Not gonna lie, the idea of this season caught me totally of guard cuz its not what i imagined we'd be doing. My interpretation of events of the end of Season of the Witch was that we were gonna be raising and trying to deal with a new baby ahamkara with which to make the wish with. I mean that was back when we thought this was the ONLY egg left
Well it might not have been what we expected, but there’s so much potential with this storyline. Bringing the dragons back? Potentially having them hatch and grow and spread throughout the system, perhaps have whims of their own (I think Ahamkara can literally just lay eggs on their own)…It may not be much more than an egg now, but this is essentially a new batch of future characters
Yeah it would've been way cooler if we hatched the new egg instead. As is Season of the Witch didn't even need to happen. Sure we got our clue to the 15th Wish from Savathun. But we use Deepsight to reveal the actual wish, which we theoretically could've done regardless. And if we're just gonna rezz Riven anyway we didn't need Savathun's heirloom, Riven could've just led us to the other eggs.
The Cabal would *love* the story about Efrideet throwing Saladin. I wanna see that cutscene, cutting from the actual story to Saladin with a group of cabal soldiers laughing their heads off.
I will forever remember that story told in the mission to reclaim part of our Light. It caught me offguard and felt ENTIRELY in character for the both of them.
EXACTLY!!!😂😂 Given the Ascendancy's view of Cabal Culture, they're gonna be be VIVID about the whole story about using each other as throwable weapon, coz yknow, Guardians are conditionally Immortal, and so long as you could bounce back from getting downed -- there's all sorts of crazy ideas that would be lethal for someone without such a safety net
@@SergeyWaytov You just gave me a HORRIBLE idea... Caiatl throwing Saladin in a Fastball... In Ephridite's memory what caused the monumental ravage was the height of the Wall... But considering how monstruously strong Cabals are... You imagine the canonball throw that'd be ?
@@Nimi450 you mean like having someone with brute force of Cabal a size of Caiatl use Saladin as a thrown weapon against some sort of vehicle, ie Shadow Legion general purpose tank, something like a bigger House Of Salvation Brig, or any other "big tank" class vehicle ? That would be Devastating attack with capital D
@@SergeyWaytov Exactly, though I was more thinking yeeting him into something bigger where it might not destroy it outright but leave a steaming crate through which we can get in and revive the old man to just see him grining from an ear to the other and say. "Aaaah ! Brings back old memories !" before jumping into action with us. A thing we know will never happen.
I'm hoping we get weekly missions where Mara, Uldren or even Petra task us with a mission that they Believe could lead to an alternative to using Wish Magic, only for some to fail or have consequences. Like maybe we accidentally kill an Egg and we loose contact with Riven for a time while we find the rest of the clutch, maybe learn more about Riven and her motivations and the motivations of the Ahamkara as a whole. There's genuine potential for this story
Am I the only one that was terrified that it looked like the Vex were trying to convert Riven's body? I could be remembering wrong, but I thought the big reason the Vex don't pose much of a threat was because they didn't have any way to access any paracausal powers. If they could get their hands on wish magic.....that would be horrible
Im hoping Shaxx does come into the story. Every time i think of my favorite characters in destiny, he comes to mind, but he gets to do so little, the only main story relevance he had was in Red War for a couple seconds. Now truly is the best chance to get more from him as a character. Truly ironic Drifter gets to do stuff in the story all the time and Shaxx does not.
is it me... Or the premise it's the same as the season of the lost? Ley lines, get Eggs/techeuns, and talk to our sassy "friend" just because we need her...
If I’m not mistaken, I think Petra even says it’s the same strategy to recovering the eggs that we used for the Techeuns. So yeah, it pretty much just is Season of the Lost 2
It would be an interesting subversion if we start off one week with the find the egg mission, but at the end we just find an egg shell. Now we have to find a freshly hatched Whim (Baby Ahamkara)
As soon as Riven said “but if you were to collect them for me…” I’m the cutscene my face dropped. I was excited for another season where I honestly didn’t know what was going to happen every week, but so far this is looking to be just another season. I’m holding out for the dungeon and exotic mission, and a bait and switch would be awesome, so I won’t judge it yet.
@@Triforcebroanyone who owns Ghosts of the Deep will own Warlords Ruin as well, they're part of the same dungeon key. Which means that's $10 per dungeon, and given the replayability of most dungeons its almost always worth it, disregarding the scumminess of the business practice.
@@kais295if you want, you can reduce almost every good thing to that. You just named how most story in video games work. It's about how substantially the story and activities become. Last season was fantastic on that front. This season the activity so far is good, again.
Can we appreciate that the Undying weapons are all named after different "voices," as in different parts of speech? Very appropriate for Riven as the vendor.
Wasn't there a story in one of the Neomuna lore cards about a Vex mind that stole a generation of children out of the Cloud Ark? I feel like that could be a compelling face for a Vex antagonist. A body snatcher type that uses your own people as material/soldiers? That's certainly something that can be written about.
So far I have been enjoying the season and its story seems good so far despite me not progressing too far, the polysemny mission is a bit tricky to solo. I agree that there is some tone-deafness on regards to the executives they and a large majority of AAA gaming companies are focused too much on the short term gains. If they realized that having higher player retention will end up boosting their profits in the long term I’m sure the community would be a quieter in their grumbling.
Thank god this is the last season. My heart sank when I saw the 50 step long story quest pop up again… Edit: I will say on the antagonists part, Mara does mention that the Witness specifically sent the Sol Divisive to the Dreaming City. That still doesn’t give us a particularly compelling antagonist, but we at least know that the Vex are taking orders from the Witness.
@@TriggerHappy-mo3fr Yeah my bad, I know the Sol Divisive work for the Witness. I just meant, to say that this season completely lacks a main antagonist (outside of Riven, maybe) is a bit of an overstatement.
Well it doesn’t seem the witness is communicating to things OUTSIDE the portal. Osiris mentions in this seasons veil lore drop that the communication has seized with the witness and that it was all about the Ghosts.
Thanks for talking about the current exhausting thing we are all contending with in the community. As we learned just a month ago, that so much of community feedback about broader monetization never is listened to. Unfortunately, so many people that put there time and effort into making something they enjoy gets completely screwed by some finance/marketing “strategist” looking for the quick buck. It’s sad and upsetting. There will be people that play that will never see the bundle and start to wonder, sadly, where did all the players go? And all the hard work by devs will scrapped for parts as so many companies do these days.
It’ll be kinda cool if one of the episodes revolves around the fallout of us releasing hatchling Ahamkaras into the system. Also, I like the bargain we made because it’s sort of an “either all of us survive, humanity, the awoken and the Ahamkara, or none of us survive. Your choice.”
Don’t forget that shaxx’s castle was also a seraph bunker so there’s definitely some residual rasputin tech in there. Not necessarily siva but im interested to see if the dungeon is actually his former castle.
What i hope happens as a twist is that someone, Xivu, maybe Fikrul if he aligns with the Witness, or Eramis, or whoever, comes in and takes the eggs from wherever they're being kept, and so the only one left to give is either the Heirloom or Mara's taken egg. We've kinda had things extremely easy when it comes to collection based seasonal activities.
There are going to be some good twists in this season, I think. And Byf just pointed out why, maybe without even realizing. Riven's language to Mara was highly specific. Secure my eggs and you will secure "your heart's desire." But which desire would that be? Her desire to get Sjur back? Or maybe to restore Uldren? How about removing the curse on the dreaming city? Having us collect her eggs to ensure the Ahamkara's survival is a wound, but, for Mara, having to forsake those other desires (or granting them in place of the wish to follow The Witness) is twisting the knife. I can't wait to see what happens if I'm right and Mara finds out.
Could be interesting if Eramis manages to steal one of the eggs because she'd see it as the way to undo the curse that is the Scorn. Or that an egg suddenly hatches before we can retrieve it. So we'd have to kill the Ahamkhara that hatched from it. That'd be cool. Since we wouldnt break out bargain because it wasn't an egg anymore.
To fill up the antagonist department, bungie might bring back Fikrul, the Fanatic. There was a mention of him possibly leading Scorn at Witness' command so it would make sense. And what would be interesting about him returning this season is the fact that Crow is part of the story
It is probably the first time I ever encountered Riven since I never ran the Last Wish raid (since I can't solo through all 6 encounters) and I bear the burden of being a major solo player in a game where interacting with people is crucial to do things like raids and dungeons. Needless to say I am intrigued since this season is Dragon themed and I always bear a love for Dragons but I am well aware Bungie has not been forward with their necessary requirements in keeping a fanbase and first time consumers happy with Destiny 2 overall.
15:15 last season was the same. Difference is it had added story elements at points that ran along side/ the main plot. The premise of last season was established in the same exact way. Eris Morn turned into a Hive and we were to tithe to her every week.
For the vex it could be cool after the final shape we get like an ultron type of vex character who’s voiced and calling shots and maybe be the first of the species to use paracausal powers
i'm so happy the Ahamkara as a race is getting another chance to come back because i still think since before Forsaken, when we heard about wish dragons i thought the coolest race to fight would be them. and us bringing them back to the narrative may not mean much from a gameplay perspective but i hope Bungie does turn them into an enemy race at some point. cuz it sounds so damn cool to have an Ahamkara strike/dungeon/raid with the minions being smaller ahamkara factions
There is a particular line that excites me, in terms of the need for a “bait and switch.” Riven alluded to the idea that our enemies could find the eggs and bargain with her before us.
I am expecting some developments past the retrieving eggs every week. For one there will be the wishes activity that was mentioned by Joe so I think (heavy speculation here) that we will also be hatching those eggs into Whims this season. And while I think the first part could be boring of getting them I hope it picks up when we have ravenous little hatchlings running around.
The wishes are coming after February, so are post seasonal content. They may have been thrown together once the delay was internally announced. I hope you're right in that they will be engaging, but I don't think the seasonal content will include any of that sort of stuff
“Somehow, shitloads of dragon eggs survived!” Alright bucko. I thought Savathun keeping one was convenient enough. Then there’s the taken one. Now there’s 6 more. K then.
I would love for them to bring up a named Vex Boss.. One that converses with us and is a super big threat. We are yet to have ANY dialogue from the Vex, and I really like them as an enemy. They are pretty complicated, and yet simple to understand. All we would need is some form of dialogue with them and it'd really flesh them out.
the chat between Mara and Riven in the cutscene was interesting bc Riven said they would "grant Mara's hearts desire" and i think the only thing her heart really desires is Sjur Eido comeing back to her. Sjur herself said she had a vision that Mara destroyed a pyramid ship and she was dead but that she was close to finding her way back.
On the dungeon, the lore on the censor says that there may still be 7 Ahamkara, that escaped the great hunt. We know Shaxx was very respectful to them, and there's a chance that this is his castle. What if Shaxx hid 1 or all of them in the castle. It says the Scorn are trying to get wish magic, which at first I thought was them trying to get another egg, but that sounds too anti-climatic and why isn't that same language used when they are trying to steal them? There has to be something more. I think either Shaxx has the bones of an Ahamkara there, or there's a living one hiding there. Though it is notable that the castle has a House of Kings banner there. I'm not sure how that would factor in
Who exactly is the name on the wish contract with Riven? We use the wall to initiate the wish, but Mara is the one that speaks it out, but she says "in the Guardian's name" is that Guardian singular meaning us, or is that Guardians' plural meaning all guardians. Then she has that scene with Riven alone where she makes the deal which would imply her. But every interaction with Riven she's really creepily throwing out "guardian mine" which would imply its us. But then overarching it all is the fact that it's Savathun's last wish?
I think I am the only guardian who actually wants all the eggs restored. Riven is dead, after all, so why not raise a couple of dragons with proper parenting? Can anyone imagine how ridiculously awesome guardians riding dragons would be? I really want to explore the dungeon castle! Medieval fantasy is my favorite genre of fiction, and castles...heh heh, sends shivers down my pale spine! I hope though-on the behalf of Shadiversity and myself-that they DO NOT FORGET the machicolations! Seeing proper castle architecture will make this dungeon so much more interesting.
That line from the riven lore video echoed through my brain throughout doing the opening quests given the nature of this arrangement "Most of those who [bargain] with me do not win" And it makes me uneasy
As a very much solo and matchmaking player, the initial mission to get to Riven's body was amazing; places I've only seen in raid videos were open to me. It reminded me of when parts of older seasons took us to the Vault of Glass. Just that feeling of going into the space that six Guardians would go in and get crushed was intimidating. It sounds like no one knows who grabbed the eggs or when it happened. This could be anyone from Oryx all the way to the Witness or one of his disciples since we do not have a time frame to work with for the event. What I would LOVE to see is a Vex Sol Divisive queen or controlling power that's the power level of a disciple; something that could be responsible for the eggs being stolen. I also felt there were many "Wait, what?!" moments in the weapon and armor tabs for this season. Dragons using the light...possible ones that escaped The Great Hunt?
I definitely was hoping that we'd also deal with the newer ahamkara alongside riven, s that was imo a bit of a letdown. That being said, I believe we are going to fall into the same monotony of 1 egg a week like last time, despite Bungie saying they'd change the format. After the twab telling us things would be different, everyone should be held accountable for that. Finally, the main twist of the season will likely be its antagonist, because everybody was wondering who scattered the eggs in the first place. I believe that will be the intrigue they hope people will come back for espite the weekly formula, and imo, it's a bit weak.
Did anyone notice that when Mara and Riven actually made the bargain, Riven said "if you secure my clutch of eggs then you will secure what your heart desires." Riven didn't actually say it was to open the portal while striking the deal. For all Mara has been toted as being good at bargaining with ahamkara, to make a bargain based on "your heart's desire" is wildly open to interpretation. Will the story team use that as a backstab and have Riven actually summon ser eido [I know it's spelled wrong] instead of opening the portal? I don't think they will, but it would be absolutely perfect. It would offer a good chance for a mid season conflict as well as have us rope in the egg we found in the Spire that has apparently just been forgotten. Even during a lot of seasonal activity dialogue I kept hearing Riven say "find all my eggs or the deal is off" and "you guardians are after the Witness". Maybe I'm wrong but I haven't heard her say the line "our deal for you to follow the witness" in plain words.
I think this vid is a breath of fresh air,, hopefully they listen and take notes. Gates are open finally for honest discussion about Destiny 2's direction. I can go on for days about the Characters that have passed, lost their light, lost their Ghost or just nerfed for whatever reason. I would love to see who was the central figure when the Witness was created to pursue the Traveler, there had to be one being that everyone merged to from that ancient civilization
Hey @MynameisByf I’m not sure if you noticed but I wanted to mention one thing that peaked my ears in the dialogue of the coil activity. In one of your previous videos you mention forsaken and how weren’t sure who fired off the shot that killed uldron sov in the coil there’s a line crow says to Petra and he says “come on Petra you’ve already shot me once” so it was Petra venje who pulled the trigger on uldron sov. Thought it was neat to hear that thought it would help! You make great videos and keep up the good content🙏🏼
I know that the season just come out but one thing thats still bugging me is just how little the Veil has been brought up seeing it was what supposedly was Lightfalls biggest mystery. I thought we was going to learn more about light and darkness but instead we get Lakshmi's origins...
Riven basically going, "You slay my entire race, myself and most of my eggs, then have the gall to approach me and wish for something that would allow you to save everything else, so it's only fair if my race gets to continue existing too" is some huge justification on her part honestly. I think I like this alternative over a new dragon making the wish more because it gives us a chance to see a pre-established and loved character put us under their boot just as they have always done when they were alive. We never got to see much of that ourselves in real-time before(we have lore tabs for everything else we know), our introduction to Riven was "hey there's a dragon here, go kill it" and after getting a brief look into her personality we killed her, the end. Despite the potential repetitive structure of the narrative this time around I am looking forward to seeing things play out. I do at least hope we get an answer to WHO threw those eggs across the Ley Lines in the first place because that answer is the crutch of why we have to wait to find them all in the first place.
Don’t think I’m alone in this, I’d happily watch Byf talk about the lore of any topic he’s interested in. My interest in destiny is absolutely wavering due to bungie’s awful business practices lately, but I’ll still always tune into Byf’s vids, simply because I like listening to this dude talk.
Even with everything we know know about the story and guessing what's to come, this season is hindered by the Final Shape because we already know the outcome, no matter what happens in Wish. We get the wish, we enter the portal. What other implications can happen between now and Final Shape that will chnage any of that? Someone would need to die (most likely unceremoniously) to have any impact.
There’s some lore tabs that have some extremely intriguing bits about going through the portal, like who does first, and what said character might do with the wish to enter. I do think it’s..fairly obvious the overarching thing that happens will be, but we’re not fully aware of smaller potentially more impactful things might happen towards the end.
One thing that would be cool is having an Aramkara enemy faction. if not for the way Destiny does its enemy factions and ranks. It could be like Garuda from FF where there are mini versions that you fight. I think it’s time for Destiny to evolve bc it is fairly limited with the way they do their enemy models.
I really wasn't expecting the Sol Divisive to return, nor the Undying season weapons. Your point about how "Hey, maybe the Taken abscond with one of the eggs", that could lead into "Riven is agitated and sends us off to save the egg before it gets corrupted". Then a late-in-the-seasonal-story week has us find only broken shards of an egg, and we then need to track and catch the Ahamkara hatchling (Whim) before it grants someone's wish/gets captured by an Ascendant Hive.
The castle artwork for the dungeon matches the castle in the icon for Felwinter's Helm, and there's some promo imagery with a Scorn logo. Makes me wonder if Fikrul hasn't hunkered down there and the green shit is a new strain of Dark Ether he's trying to make that'll create Scorn unbound to the will of the Witness, or something like that. The Exotic Mission being in the Black Garden is confirmed by Bungie, it's mentioned in the Season of the Wish website page which also tells us it comes out in Week 4. The hex code lore tab seems to very strongly imply the reconstruction (somehow) of the Black Heart, and the Queensfoil Censer drops a note about the possibility of an Ahamkara from the time of the Great Hunt who wielded the Light. Somehow.
I think it can be a cool twist that Riven lied to us in the bargain and she can't grant the wish because of her death. And to ensure that the eggs won't be destroyed we will be forced to hatch one of the eggs and bargain with the newborn Ahamkara
I thought it would’ve been better if we still had Rivens spirit but we’re also hatching and raising a baby ahamakara. They could make some lore up about how ahamkaras grow faster when they grant wishes and in order to grant the wish to enter the portal the baby ahamkara needs to be fully grown, so each week we fight to get to the wish wall in order to safely be granted a wish from the baby ahamakara and each week we’d see it grow a little more. Season ends with Riven talking with her child (little touching scene of mother and daughter) before departing this world and the ahamkara we raised granting the final wish to aid us in following the witness.
Can we also talk about them bumping everyone back down to guardian rank 5? I took time off, came back during the last season and bought just that season and lightfall. I grinded all the way up to rank 9 and was working on my exotics. I needed 8 more and needed to put in the catalysts. Thats going to xur for like 8-10 weeks for cipher quests too....
"We used this method to find the lost techeuns, were gonna use it to find the eggs." That line set the precident that were gonna be doing an egg a week, and I was immediately turned off. I hope you're right, and this season isn't that, but the track record speaks volumes.
I, like others, was anticipating that this season would be hatching the egg we found in the Imbaru Engine as opposed to another collect-a-thon (In this case, a literal egg hunt). The only way out of this I see for the narrative team is the fact that we don't know who scattered these eggs across the Ascendant Plane. That's basically the only question mark we have right now, the only touchpoint that can lead to unexpected places. Otherwise, yeah. Log in each Tuesday, grab another egg, listen to some lines exchanged between Riven/Mara/Crow/Petra, rinse and repeat. I really hope there's been an overhaul to this in The Final Shape. I like what they've been doing as far as experimentation with the gameplay. We at least aren't getting a series of Battlegrounds anymore. The introduction of deckbuilding and rouglelite elements has been fun and interesting. The Coil is a high water mark for PvE content, I think. But the delivery of the story desperately needs a similar shakeup.
Episodes appear to be Bungjes response to the weekly 20 minute format. 3 separate acts that take place over a longer period. Ideally these will play like a mini-campaign that would totally reimagine the ongoing story model.
I think it would be intresting for it to be Dul Incaru who stole the eggs and took control of the Dreaming City Taken. Not sure how it would fit within the 3 week cycle but we haven't heard anything from her.
Who knows, we’re getting a Strand Bow that doesn’t match the aesthetic of the other new weapons, and Sjur was the most famous of the Awoken when it comes to archery, so we may at the least learn more about her.
the exotic mission being in the Black Garden isn't rumors, it's listed on the season's website you start in the Dreaming City then move to the Black Garden :)
As soon as i heard riven say "grant you a wish? I......refuse" I checked out. I knew nothing we do for the next 2 months actually matters. I knew at that point it was going to be a "tune in next week" type of thing
My first impression of the week one mission is that it's a dnd session. Think about it, the queen asks you to go into a dragon lair that is filled with traps, goblins and hobgoblins. Plus at the end you get loot.
About a month or so back, Digital Etremes did a livestream talking about their upcoming expansion for Warframe, Whispers in the Wall. In this stream, they presented the idea of a paid story skip to access the new, free content out of order with the rest of the story. When the fanbase made a large outcry about this, they listened and canceled it, instead choosing to make it easier to progress through the story in the first place. Bungie, please take notes from DE. Listen to your fanbase, and stop trying to swindle players out of every dime they have.
I think we could still see another character pulled in, there is the part about who moved the eggs. It would be great story telling is it's Sjur Eido, who's been trying to hide the eggs from Riven, then has to be in conflict with Mara over it. I also trust the narrative team to switch the story up week to week and make it compelling like Witch. What I don't trust is if the extra work to do that is deemed as wasteful use of hours by management and tell them to go back to a simpler story progression
There's a hidden enemy that I hope comes to light soon is, the one that hid her eggs, and my theory is 1 the nine, we KNOW they made bargains and deals and that they wanted to hide/kill all of the wish dragons and 2 sjur eido in attempting to combat the hunt and without her bow she couldn't destroy them
Byf I want to thank you. Finally someone who sees this for what it actually is. All the streamers and content creators are going over the moon for the mounds of loot from the coil and the rogue like quality of the activity, and I am sitting here like, bro, dudes, ya'll got some "loot coloured goggles" on! Its the same activity over and over again. The rogue like aspects aren't even spicy.
It feels very... contrived. Like, we spent so much of forsaken destroying those eggs and killing riven. But oh! Now she's back! And guess what, theres a whole dang clutch of eggs that no one ever knew about even though we destroyed them all but not this set! It felt super cool that there was a secret, hidden egg inside the engine last season because it was just one. A single, new ahamkara that wasnt taken. Raisibg our new wish dragon by feeding it wishes would have been awesome. But that reveal is so cheapened by this season imediately going "oh, btw there's like a dozen more of them, and the wish dragon who's entire story arc was already completed four years ago is back"
The irony was Friday, Saturday and Sunday I was shooting eggs with wishender only to find out we gotta find eggs I'm like well shit :/ basically the sad Linus meme
Just because you assumed Riven was the last doesn't mean she was. It was literally in her name "The last KNOWN" plus we know how they work and she was working with Savathun
I'm loving this new season, every part of it. Granted, everyone's so used to the weekly run around, I wasn't even thinking of that until you had made a mention in your video. Also, just a take from my point of view. I don't think we should be bashing Bungie Execs for putting out **Optional** Micro transactions. It's optional. A flood of hate for an action with be much less received as compared to a flood of good ideas and hopeful prospects. It's obvious that they're struggling and they need the money. Instead of making it blatantly obvious and watering dead roses, regarding the bundle, we as a community could push suggestions like a tsunami. Bungie needs to make money, so why don't we give pave then some roads of the ideas that they could drive on. That way, they can hit their numbers, help us as the community, get more of what we want and everyone would be happy. I think we've grown toxic overall as a community and I hate that. We need some more love. Take it from someone who complains about PvP everyday.
Byf always hits the nail on the head when it comes to shortfalls of the game. Being one of the players that has been turned away so many times for the reasons in this video, and beyond, I am hopeful and always check in with byf because ultimately, this game is and has been one of the best story telling experiences I have ever played. I hope bungee figures out their current missteps, as I look forward to being enthusiast enough to continue to keep playing the game beyond the annual releases.
You guys are prob too young to know but back at first (d1) bungie was controlled by activision and blamed them for making them do 3 annual dlc’s for money , with a halfass game. Super ironically, after splitting, they kept the same model and even raised the prices 😂 I don’t even think it’s what killed the game tho, granted I skipped several dlcs cuz not giving $500 to a single game. What killed it for me was the seasonal reset grind. They catered it for diehard players, everyone else had no chance to enjoy endgame content before artifact reset. Sort of a failure considering most d1 players are at an age where they have responsibilities can’t grind like that anymore. Basically they catered it to a very small niche of players. Also changing how the ranking and leveling sunsetting works 10+ times didn’t help either
@@carsonhunt4642 I’m 34 bruh… been on this destiny coaster since first call. There have been a multitude of things that have affected playability of the game over the years, some as you noted, are directly contradictory. What seems to be the largest downfall of the game is continually cutting corners while nickel and diming every aspect of the game.
@@chadbrochill1764 imagine playing cod once a month and everytime you log in you are reset back at level 1. It’s stupid, and a grind that most adults don’t have time for.
One thing I did not like is that Riven having many more uncorrupted eggs undermines Savathun's ahamkara egg being guarded behind lots of puzzles and being so important the previous season. I hope it is explained in the lore and connects it with stuff we have seen before. Not even Mara was aware of these eggs and never before have we heard even a hint of Riven having so many eggs. It feels like a plot device just to spread out the content each week and giving us a "reason" as to what the Guardians have been doing all this time... chasing eggs across Sol.
I really hope the Sol divisive becomes more central to the story. There's dielogue in this season where they saybthag the Vex also want to contain the Taken. And theres the exotic mision for deterministic chaos, where the taken are actively attacking the Black Garden. Maybe they could build a mind that simulates Ahamkara (just like they had Quoria, a mind for understanding the sword logic) and said mind and communicates with us with the voices of other characters to trick us into containing the taken so they can "Vexify" the dragon's lair. Like, they are betraying the witness because their simulations start to show them loosing.
I do think it will be a weekly thing. I don’t believe they said how many eggs though, so who knows? I think the weekly thing works when the story fits it. Usually the seasonal stories don’t. Weekly delivery has to escalate in a way that is meaningful, a way which makes me look forward to what is new. Season of the Seraph did this well at the start because every week we worked towards unlocking the Seraph Station. And then Clovis tried to take over and that conflict caused everything to change. So I think we’ll have to see how it goes. My worry is that it can’t escalate because the characters present don’t have the history for it. No inherent conflict. I’m hopeful about the Vex though. And it was really interesting that they trapped an Ogre, and seemed to be worshipping Riven’s corpse. So if the mission is in the Garden, maybe there will be some conflict there. Maybe the Vex pressure can ramp enough to provoke Mara/Osiris/Petra/Crow into doing something foolish that shifts the narrative.
So initially, I thought we were going to have to hatch Rivne’s 1 egg by giving it tithes but instead of just regular kill anything and everything, we would have to complete wishes like missions, patrols, take down a number of guardians because spider enjoys seeing their bodies flop in the crucible or raids for double the reward. Then half way through have us find out there is the taken egg has already hatched and hidden itself among the floating mountains, and is controlled by the witness. An then we would later after powering up our Ankara, have a kaiju battle. Us having the wish dragon on our side leads to us null of taken wish magic so we can slay it. An utalize maybe older weapons from the days of the great hunt! Like have us forge a sword or a new bow as our weapon by going to a great hunt location or utilizing shax’s bone in the tower as a weapon. But if this is the season we are getting an egg a week, I’m just gona stay out of it. I already don’t normally buy the seasons for this exact reason. It’s always fetch quests after fetch quest. Same back in season of the worthy when we sent satellites to space, and just as same now . An it isn’t making me change my mind to buy it. Seasons are not worth it at all. I’m also starting to thing that maybe the big dlc to last a while isn’t such a bad idea now considering the content back then. Honestly, at this point, I’m fed up with seasonal stuff. I’m ready for final shape. Hope it kills it. Hope the new “chapters” are just an epilogue to end story lines left bare, and we can close the light and dark saga. Then get Marathon. An from there, instead of Destiny 3, I instead would want a rebooted collection of destiny 1-2 called Destiny:the light and dark saga. Basically D1-2, all raids, all seasons, Any progression and changes in your world are your own. You want to play an old mission, meet ikora and meditate and team up with friends. Old D1 lore and cinematic story beats are re-animated and made better utilizing the D2 in person story points. Seasons become a thing of the past as they are re-worked to be 3-5 missions cutting out the grind. Make it the ultimate way to pay and enjoy destiny for what it was and is.
Beyond the aspect of the seasonal cycle containing the (sadly) typical repetition, the bargaining mission was rather unique. It held at least one mechanic that I feel is usually found locked in a dungeon or raid encounter. It took me a bit to establish it, blazing though as I try to do 😂
I appreciate what you are saying. I opted out of Destiny about six months back. Felt like the game just wasn’t what I needed as a solo player and that I was not the target demographic in that way. Fair enough. No shade on them. Still love the lore though (thank you, Byf). Just wish they’d made it possible for single players (filthy casuals like me) to enjoy it more.
I've been waiting for Sjur Eido to return for years. My enjoyment of Mara's character has gone up and down a lot over the course of D1 and D2. It started pretty high back when she basically just a cool lady in a leather jacket voiced by one of my absolute favourite VA's but took a hit in Forsaken (due to some doofus writing a lot of her content such as the Marasenna and brawling with people on reddit who didn't like it) but has rose up again in recent years as Season of the Lost, Witch Queen and Season of the Defiant fixed a lot of the things I thought was wrong with her character. That said, I've basically been worried she's going to die with each new season she appears in and I don't want that to happen before Sjur makes another appearance because that would be some amazing drama. I imagine her brother coming back from the dead was pretty rough for Mara but her old lover too? Oof.
Lore will always be a big factor to me. Lore masters i watched were Byf, Vaati, Sirwallen, and EpicNameBro. This kinda started back in high school at least for enb. Where the lore for the world sounded so cool i had to play the game to experience it. Destiny lore is there but kinda goes meh in some cases. I havent played destiny since witch queen and ive seen no incentive to really comeback. Feels like im not missing out on anything.
I'm liking the gameplay and activities so far, but the fact that there's just several eggs just hidden laying around was kinda out of place, Savathuns and Maras eggs should have actually been the last ones
I think that the Egg Hunt is already going to be different from the coral or the memories simply based on the first mission. Is that giving them too much credit? Sure, but it's possible. They could have had us go and get an egg, and then say that we gotta go get the rest, but the eggs weren't there. Supposedly the only person who knew about the eggs was Riven, which means that someone or something is working behind the shadows, which could also give us more of an antagonist.
Yeah, I preordered Witch Queen and I'm not upset about preordering Lightfall IMO, but I haven't even thought about preordering Final Shape yet. The destiny 2 starter pack makes me wanna think about it even less.
That was what I was hoping for. Unfortunately, it never happened.
So the purpose of the egg was that it was the last clue to figure out the last wish
“With which to make the wish with”
Absolute tongue twister
As for enemies they could always bring back Kelgorath, risen from eggs 😃
😂😂😂 mans can't never get a break..

Taniks: The Hatched
Why Uldren? He’s dead. We have Crow. He’s far more pleasant.
@@acgearsandarms1343 🤣 that's my fault. I wasn't thinking.
It's possible we might get more info about him in the new dungeon
Now that you mentioned it, we don't have a season focused Shaxx like, at all
is it me... Or the premise it's the same as the season of the lost? Ley lines, get Eggs/techeuns, and talk to our sassy "friend" just because we need her...
Yeah, I feel the same way.
I thought the same thing. Doesn’t give me confidence. Lost was a great season but it’s over and the story has changed drastically since then.
But our sassy "friend" is a dragon
@@johngancarcik5682a *ghost* dragon, no less 😂
If I’m not mistaken, I think Petra even says it’s the same strategy to recovering the eggs that we used for the Techeuns. So yeah, it pretty much just is Season of the Lost 2
It would be an interesting subversion if we start off one week with the find the egg mission, but at the end we just find an egg shell. Now we have to find a freshly hatched Whim (Baby Ahamkara)
Yes. I want that sort of story beat.
i was hoping for a baby dragon even if it would be an absolute menace
As soon as Riven said “but if you were to collect them for me…” I’m the cutscene my face dropped. I was excited for another season where I honestly didn’t know what was going to happen every week, but so far this is looking to be just another season. I’m holding out for the dungeon and exotic mission, and a bait and switch would be awesome, so I won’t judge it yet.
Yup another season of get me this get me that then something will happen then it'll backfire then we start the next season same thing
You are gonna pay $20 for another dungeon?
@@Triforcebroanyone who owns Ghosts of the Deep will own Warlords Ruin as well, they're part of the same dungeon key. Which means that's $10 per dungeon, and given the replayability of most dungeons its almost always worth it, disregarding the scumminess of the business practice.
How can you even say that? We have zero idea what will be revealed in the story. To say it'll just boil to collect eggs is weird
My heart sank when I saw the 50 step long story quest pop up again…
Edit: I will say on the antagonists part, Mara does mention that the Witness specifically sent the Sol Divisive to the Dreaming City. That still doesn’t give us a particularly compelling antagonist, but we at least know that the Vex are taking orders from the Witness.
There's one more
No weve always known the witness controls sol divisive.
Not sure what else you were expecting

I’m expecting a big twist a la season of the seraph. I was not expecting Rasputin to give us that incredible cutscene
Riven said she wanted the uncorrupted eggs im pretty sure
In the new seasonal ship, Crow talks to Mara about his regrets. I think you really, really, need to see it.
Right?! Makes seeing Cayde make a lot more sense. Riven was lying with the “last wish I will ever grant” seemingly…
I just read it… oh my is this gonna get interesting!
There’s lore where she’s leaving the system so no
To fill up the antagonist department, bungie might bring back Fikrul, the Fanatic. There was a mention of him possibly leading Scorn at Witness' command so it would make sense. And what would be interesting about him returning this season is the fact that Crow is part of the story
There is an episode with scorn or looks like scorn so that might be about the fanatic
Destiny 2: How to Charm Your Dragon🔥
There is a particular line that excites me, in terms of the need for a “bait and switch.”
Riven alluded to the idea that our enemies could find the eggs and bargain with her before us.
I've been surprisingly enjoying the season overall so far, but it's still the first week.
its the second day
yeah im excited and we just need to see what this season can do in the future, its just a little to early to tell for me personally
Don't let big name content creators change your opinion

“Somehow, shitloads of dragon eggs survived!” Alright bucko. I thought Savathun keeping one was convenient enough. Then there’s the taken one. Now there’s 6 more. K then.
I’m so excited to see the Ahamkara return. Something tells me this will be fun.
I'm not sure how that would factor in
The bargain Mara and Riven made was to grant Mara's heart's desire, not what we wished for. Hope there's more to those specific words.
With Shaxx having new lines in Relic and Festival of the Lost, he is very likely may get involved in this season also.
That line from the riven lore video echoed through my brain throughout doing the opening quests given the nature of this arrangement
"Most of those who [bargain] with me do not win"
And it makes me uneasy
I'm hopeful that we get some interesting turns in the story. There's entirely too much potential.
You got better story telling skills than 1000 employees.
I would totally be grinding out the seasonal stuff if this was the story, that sounds so much better than what we have now!
What's cooler than a magic space dragon, a magic space dragon ghost.
"We used this method to find the lost techeuns, were gonna use it to find the eggs."
That line set the precident that were gonna be doing an egg a week, and I was immediately turned off.
The vex could use something like a retcon tbh
I see byf I click, simple
I think it would be intresting for it to be Dul Incaru who stole the eggs and took control of the Dreaming City Taken. Not sure how it would fit within the 3 week cycle but we haven't heard anything from her.
Who knows, we’re getting a Strand Bow that doesn’t match the aesthetic of the other new weapons, and Sjur was the most famous of the Awoken when it comes to archery, so we may at the least learn more about her.
the exotic mission being in the Black Garden isn't rumors, it's listed on the season's website
you start in the Dreaming City then move to the Black Garden :)
As soon as I saw that we were going to be collecting eggs every week, I heard your voice sighing "collect the MacGuffin".
There's a hidden enemy that I hope comes to light soon is, the one that hid her eggs, and my theory is 1 the nine, we KNOW they made bargains and deals and that they wanted to hide/kill all of the wish dragons and 2 sjur eido in attempting to combat the hunt and without her bow she couldn't destroy them
The final boss of Fridays dungeon is gonna be “Atraks revived by eggs”
Ill always wonder what wouldve been if the vex stayed the main villian before the first reboot
One nice nod from the story was Petra referencing what we did in Season of the Lost, bringing back the lost Techeuns.
I've already decided to just follow this season through you Byf. I'll get back into the game for Final Shape but that's it.
But that reveal is so cheapened by this season imediately going "oh, btw there's like a dozen more of them, and the wish dragon who's entire story arc was already completed four years ago is back"
The irony was Friday, Saturday and Sunday I was shooting eggs with wishender only to find out we gotta find eggs
I'm like well shit :/ basically the sad Linus meme
Just because you assumed Riven was the last doesn't mean she was. It was literally in her name "The last KNOWN" plus we know how they work and she was working with Savathun
@@YungSnoopyIt's just bad storytelling. The lead up to find the egg last season is just diminished.
Super ironically, after splitting, they kept the same model and even raised the prices 😂
I don’t even think it’s what killed the game tho, granted I skipped several dlcs cuz not giving $500 to a single game.
@@carsonhunt4642 yeah, I get it man. That’s why I didn’t get an annual pass this year. I haven’t been able to play endgame material in years
I think it'd be a pleasant surprise to see whatever scattered the eggs hatch one through some manner or other, and we have to hunt another Ahamkara
The one th9ng that goves me hope about the season story is that so far all of the activities take olace in the same area
I'm sold on this season for one reason... Breaknecks return... I got a roll with Pugilist and Demolitionist, I'm having a blast
Aesop showing up on the side of the Sol Divisive would be interesting.
I would be shocked if this season amounted to anything other than the usual format. 1 egg a week. Until June. Woof.
When I realised it was a POSSIBLE egg a week shindig?
I verbally, exclamated a right ol' "fuck"
Oof.
Ahamkara are dangerous to make bargains with, and yet Riven is our seasonal vendor, whom we’ll be making lots of bargains with.
Feels like im not missing out on anything.
in one bit of positivity i would like to think that id be a huge protector of a new clutch of ahamkara
We definitely need the Taken pulling a mafia move. " those are so nice dragon eggs youve got there. Be a shame if something happened to them!"
…Grabs his popcorn…
Complicated….hmmm…
It just hit me: we’re gonna be fighting Riven at the end of this.
She’s still dead lol
@@Arctis326😂Literally encountered her body in the first mission
@@YungSnoopy no wonder you rely on bfy for lore, looks like you’re not paying attention 😉
