Sounds brilliant! Well done on the build. Always been curious how those Bartolinis would sound. They sounded better than I thought they would! Also great choice fitting some Deftones in there, love to see it!
There's a guy that makes custom pickguards and he was able to produce exact replicas to Kurt's through a montage of photos for reference. It's kinda funny I started out wanting to play late 60's, early 70's rock and grunge, but after a little over a year, I had graduated to metal whether I wanted to or not. *When I'm designing a new pedal or some other guitar related circuit though, I plug into a tiny Fender practice amp, a basswood stratocaster and it's grunge, punk and classic rock that pours out.*
While you were playing I noticed that you got an Epiphone ET270, do you plan to make any videos with that guitar? greetings! PS: what a genius guitar you showed
Have to admit I'm super jealous of that guitar! Honestly I'm super jealous of any good mustang because as a lefty I cannot find one (that doesn't cost more money than I'll ever have in my life )... What's I thought the reissue pickup sounded very similar just a little better like more defined and actually closer for what you're going for which is the like in utero tone..
Ever since i first heard about the Ferrington 'stang, i've been O B S E S S E D with Bartolini pickups, but pretty much nobody carries the V88-D if they even carry their non-bass stuff at all. I was worried i'd have to set up a saved search on Reverb and pay BS prices on a used one. Thanks for linking to where i can just buy them.
First of all, amazing build and demo! I watched several times already. BUT what about that ET-270? I have one, but would love to see it through a proper rig! Please!
@@THE-CRTRFUS was probably recorded with the Univox IMO. For the distortion yeah its really the SansAmp mixed with the overdrive from the amp that gets that aggressive sound
@@wastewoodrockers5526 yeah I’ve already seen a lot of people use a univox. The question is which one though? Some people think he either had the Phase 1 with the Seymour Duncans or the phase 2 with a phase 3 hum bucker in the bridge
@@THE-CRT It sounds like the original pickups to me, the squealing feedback gives it away. The Univox pickups are notoriously known for their microphonics and lack of wax potting. That’s just my best guess.
When you play all apologies do you use original or reissue pickups? According to you , except all apologies, on which recording songs Kurt did use the ferrington? The bridge pickup is cool ? Thx guy 🙏
Hey, I played on original pickups the entire video besides the comparison segment. I'm not sure which songs the Ferrington was used on, but to my ear, All Apologies and maybe Rape Me.
Awesome!! Surprised you didn't go the route of Dunlop strap locks, since that's what he has. How does the neck feel? Also, he used it from In Bloom to Polly at The Point.
@@jq.guitars Good! Was the neck finished like that upon buying or was it refinned by Lomic? I'm not sure if you said that in the video and if i missed it.
Cool build and playing, i like the pups! I have a Ferrington clone, at the time the only one i knew of, maybe one of the first?? At least in the first few id say. Its the best part of 20 years old now and was built by local guy called Cross, its a cool guitar but i mostly play Tele's. Might throw some of these re-issue pups in it though. Older me is no longer a fan of short scale guitars... I also don't play remotely the same styles of music i did.
Can't believe I've only just seen this Video, I've gotta say though brother you've missed one Major detail out & I don't know how I feel about it in all honesty
@@jq.guitars just sounds like you can hear how sharp the frets are. I stand corrected. Aaron’s ferrington sounded much smoother and rounded which is weird because you guys both use the same gear almost.
@Misledband Pretty sure you're hearing an amp difference. He's running a quad reverb in his vid (a smoother amp), I'm running a JCM900 in this video (a harsher amp)
@@jq.guitars ah sorry I thought it would be through the quad. Would love to hear it through the quad. Bet it would sound mega. The nitro finish looks great.

It’s here!! Been so excited for this one and it was worth the wait. Absolutely brilliant build my friend, it’s perfect! 👏🏻
I agree with you eric!
Thank you my friend!
its amazing! both legends youtubers! cheers from Chile
You need to make your own nirvana guitars
Yo it's you 😮😮😮😮 WASSAAAPPPPP
Ive had this rebuild in my head for YEARS. Good on you for getting Bartolini to provide the out of production pickups
i was so surprised when i saw the finish, im so used to seeing aaron's unpainted one lmao
ive been waiting a while on this video, not disappointed!

Hey! Hahaha I actually watched your Deftones video just a few days ago. Thanks for the comment!
This is an amazing build. Those bartolini pickups are extremely rare, I'm hoping they bring them back to the commercial market
They have reissued them, I show a comparison between original and reissue in this video
Waited quite a while for this upload but the ferrington turned out fantastic! Best guitar replica I've seen in a while, Congrats!
RIP, Steve, Albini
When you started playing All Apologies, it sounded SO close to the album like, that was crazy ❤
Very cool, I always liked the way the Ferrington looked. good build of it dude
Songs from live through this would sound so good on this!
Both set of pickups sound great, it's a really neat build, I love it!
SOOO Excited to see a new video!!
Awesome to see the guitar and a snippet of mx by deftones. Love that song

Your guitars and equipment, WOW.
Love it.
The wait was worth it
I think you could take the reissue set and make another ferrington style build, maybe model it after oranj stang in color scheme, great video!
That's a very cool idea
YES! It's finally here! Great job you LEGEND.
Awesome build and attention to detail. It sounds amazing!
Thanks bro!
Man that is a stunning guitar. Its a great addition to the collection !.
Wow dude, I wasn’t expecting that! That tone is perfect! Congrats man! 🎉
Thanks!
What a job! Love the dedication! 🔥🤘
Been waiting on this for a while. Guess this is the last video we will see the Univox Custom on the wall based on your reverb store.
If it sells, I kinda don't want it to. But I need the money for something else
dude that verse chorus verse tone was spot on
this is cool.

couldn't tell the difference very much between the pickups. sounded really good tho!
i miss you! new vid coming?
this is actually pretty sick
working on the cobain power chord in the middle of a video, love it.
I have this book and it's signed by Richard Thompson because there's a lot of famous Ferrington players in there!
It's a great book, very interesting to flip through. Thanks for the comment!
Nice man!
That’s the real All Apologies guitar
I can’t find logic guitars
Are you gonna finish in utero now?

One more guitar I'm waiting on for that
Valeno?🤔
Also what’s in the cab you’re using?
@@NEVERMIND_JAG I'm using my 91 JCM900 with original 12T75s

i see that et-270 back there, gonna do a vid on that..?
Planning on it
What if you tried RFUS on the ferrington? I know that RFUS probably wasn't the ferrington but it'd be interesting to see how it sounds.
