The Manchester science Museum has together with many other exhibits a display of operating Steam Engines shown on this video. Watch more of my videos on my Playlist: / @scalejetfred
G'day, Yay Team ! When I was a kid my father retrieved & restored some late 1800s Steam Engines which were locally abandoned at the end of WW-1, and put them in the "Land Of The Beardies History-House & Museum" , at Glen Innes (NSW, Oz, 2370), and he got a few of them running on Compressed-Air for the local Annual (Agricultural Society) Show...; so on the one hand this touches a nostalgic Ancestral Chord, the only Steam Engine constructed in Glen Innes was made in my Granfather's Blacksmith Shop - twenty years before he went there as a Journeyman Wheelwright & Woodsman. On the other hand, the people who designed & built these Steam Engines set Humanity on the path to Anthropogenic Greenhouse-Effect initiated Global Warming, with the Coalburning Furnaces which they used to boil their Water to generate their Steam... So, yes, "it's all very clever", and suitably shiny as well, but so is an Atomic Bomb ; and only a total Idiot would ever want to build such a thing, because in the long-run such inventiveness has proved to be an Existential Threat, to Life On Planet Earth... It's the Conundrum of our Times. But, Coalfired Steam-Powered Industrialism is what broke the Biosphere of the Planet ; so this Video should probably come with a Cultural Health Warning, or something ("This is how our Ancestors broke The World ; Warning, Beware !") ? Just(ifiably ?) sayin' , ;-p Ciao !
It's not broken, the earth goes through changes. The earth has been through 5 ice ages and warm periods with no ice at all. We are coming out of an ice age... The ice will melt, we caused nothing.. Hats off to your father
Very interesting
I am happy you like it. See more of my posts on ScaleJetFred.
