The cost may be less than a pound but the results, in terms of your ingenuity- priceless. Well done!!! 👍👍👍

The late great Shep Paine used to say that the key ingredient for a good modeler is "imagination, not skill" which you embody every day.

Great job, Don! As far as I know, there are currently at least three 1/35th scale kits of the Fries 16t Strabokran out there (two are injection molded.) But the cost of these kits is almost what the down-payment on a REAL one would have been in 1940.
Actually, the existence of these kits pleasantly surprises me. Until about ten years ago, the few Fries Gantries I've seen at model shows were all scratch built. I even remember seeing one on the cover of Fine Scale Modeler about thirty years ago in a diorama with the inexpensive Tamiya Panther kit fully detailed to show its interior. I'm even willing to bet the popularity of this diorama was the impetus for the production of the injection molded kits we have today . . . .
Again, this is fantastic work, Don! (Including your painting!)

That was so interesting and informative to watch......I would never have imagined that you could get such a brilliant result from a scratch-build. I'm wondering now why I spent all that money on the plasti version?ha,ha

Well done. Don, any ideas on how I would make a bunch of bananas, such as those that are harvested off of the tree? Thanks. Benjamin
