Thank you for acknowledging that not only Mennonites like to sew. I'm not Mennonite, I just enjoy watching and learning your culture. I sewed all of my prom dresses myself when I was in high school. It was a necessity because we didn't have much money, I used my babysitting money. I no longer sew, but I do enjoy knitting and crocheting.
I believe, Jesus, the only begotten Son of God, being the true reason for the season, you can’t have too many nativity scenes. And I absolutely love the concept of the “Star from Afar”! I will be sharing this with my daughter to do with her sons instead of the average advent calendars. Thanks for sharing.
I come from a family of 7, five of which are significantly older than me. When I was younger and we used to exchange gifts, I used to give a night of babysitting to each of them for Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries...
One of my favorite Christmas traditions that we always did as a kid was Christmas Eve we would leave the Christmas tree lights on. We did not grow up believing in Santa but our reason was to leave the light on for Jesus. Nothing huge but just special and sticks out in my memory. ❤️
I’m 76 years old and have grown grandchildren, I can tell you that creating traditions do stick with the children… my daughters and my grown grandchildren tell me about the traditions that they always remember and remind me of. Especially at Christmas time. Some traditions I never even realized I was making…😊. But they sure do remember and I am so touched when they remind me 💖. Loved your video especially the neat game of hiding the star and then children complete the whole thing on Christmas Day!
I want to share something special my mom, aunts and also my grandma always had us do at Christmas. We had names in a hat(siblings, cousins, etc) we each of us 16 grandkids chose a name out of the hat. This happened on Thanksgiving since we were all together. Then by Christmas Eve, we either had to make, or do something special for the cousin you chose. My grandma and then my mother wanted to teach us to give or be of service to someone other than ourselves. Teach us that giving with your whole heart is better than anything we can receive. Well we’re all grown now and I raised my children to do the same. They in turn are teaching their children the same. So if anyone needs an idea to teach their children to be more giving that are welcome to use it.
I love your decorations. Traditions are so very important. My children and grandchildren are saying how they remember what we have done for so many years. In my 62 years of marriage, I have always had candles at all of my windows year round. My mother did too. At first all of them were electric. Now some are electric and some are batteries. When I lived in Pennsylvania, I was like everyone else who did that. Even in my farmhouse with sooooo many windows. Now, living in Arkansas, I am the only home with candles in the windows. But, I will not change. Thank you for recommending books. We cannot lose books in our lives.
Paul Tripp has an advent Devotional - Come let us adore him You can read a chapter of Luke each day. There is a NIV coloring Bible, I love too! I really LOVE your videos!!❤
You out did your self young Lady, so much wisdom in this video! Wish every woman in the world could see this video! ❤❤❤❤ I just loved it, I enjoy the holiness look you carry outwardly and deep inside you! So many are letting go of holiness, and sliding worldly attire and makeup into their life! Please hang onto truth of scripture and let your beautiful light shine for Jesus
John Bevere has indeed put voice to the single most important need of the Body today. We have become much more familiar than reverential in modernity. Kudos for recommending The Awe of God.
I realize you are the Mennonite Mom…. But I’m not a mom and not married. I just like seeing your life and I like your perspectives. I’d love more recommendations for all women and all types. I love the Star and manger. It’s like Elf on the Shelf but a Christian perspective. I love it. I’d totally do that if I had a kid.
My children when they were little, and now my grandchildren, love advent calendars. One year, some of my grandchildren made their own even. They did a wonderful job! We are also reading a chapter out of Luke each night.
Yes, I would also recommend advent calendars - I cannot believe they are not a thing in the US! In Europe, you can get them for everything- tea, jewelery, chocolate... But there are also "story advent calendars" with a story or a saying for each day from 1st - 24th of December, similair to the 24 or 25 books/stories idea.
I felt your ideas for Christmas gifts were great. Books are a good one if you know someone who loves to read. Unfortunately this year my Christmas will only be myself n my sweet Dolly (dog). My son n family live in California n financially they can’t afford to fly here. I put up my Nativity Scene n a free Christmas decore but I didn’t bother with a tree. Seeing this is the second year of the passing of my husband it’s very hard to be in the spirit. Besides Christmas is the birth of our Lord. I praise God for his birth. ♥️♥️😊👍👍🌟
I loved this so much, Jeannine. Thank you for sharing. You're the only one so far I've seen be realistic and simple, yet meaningful and still beautiful with Christmas. Usually I shy away from Christmas content because it's just too overwhelming. We are very simple with Christmas - making sure our kids know the True meaning of Christmas ❤️
Love your decorating video. This is true to life. Other videos only show what looks good. I like that you show the true process and what doesn't work. I feel I buy things and am constantly returning them because they don't work.
Jenine, I love, love the candles in the window. I have one year round in my kitchen window. Great ideas for gift giving. Every year, we are scaling down and giving things we know people need and can use. Zander sliding down the stairs with Lexi is adorable. I like your decorations. I like the white lights. ❤
I loved this video! I can find myself being too practical and efficient to care much about traditions, yet as I get older I’m seeing more the importance of them. Taking Christmas goodies to the neighbors, getting out my star candle holders and decorating a bit, sending cards to friends…I try to do at least one thing each year. The book The Awe of God sounds like a great one. This year I read an old book called Whatever Happened to Worship? that really got me to thinking about how I view God. And that fabric store…oh my! Looks like a great one!
Love your decor choices. Love fabrics. Love seeing Lexi checking out the stair decorations. Love seeing Xander once again being the best big brother there is! Happy holidays!!!
Hi Jeanine, there is a young couple in W.A. Australia they are due to have their 10th baby in February, they have triplets and twins. At the beginning of December one of the things she started with her children was a new book every day, all wrapped up. The children love reading, they have an enormous library in one of their rooms. Their you tube channel is Life with beans.
The decorations you bought and already had looks so nice. Perfect design and not to much. Lexi is really admiring the staircase deco. And of course Xander is as usual being the biggest brother and protector. I love the books and fabrics. God continues to bless y'all. And y'all's faith in God comes out loud and clear. And that's such a blessing for me. I don't celebrate Christmas because it's a holiday that shouldn't be celebrated by using money over Jesus. And Jesus wasn't born in December. He was born in October and in a cave not a manger. But I love how y'all put Jesus first and don't make the tree, decorations and spending lots of money on gifts that doesn't represent Jesus.. y'all are a great example. I love and appreciate y'all and how y'all are kind gentle caring loving parents and love the Lord and follow the Lord. ❤❤❤❤
Fellow Mennonite here☺️Like the material you chose, I just received a box that I ordered a week ago! Will say it's a lot more expensive then 10 dollars getting it shipped across the border to Ontario but we really like the material!
I'm thinking the same as you, all must be practical but at the same time I love to decorate and make it beautiful. That's hard to combine...😉 one thing I did on my bookshelves was to sort them by color to make it look minimalistic...just a tip if someone needs it. Your energy is very inspiring! And the decoration looks very good!
This was a great knowledgable video Jeannine. You've made your home beautiful. You pick out great stuff. You are selling yourself short on decorating. I love it! I love the star game. Ty for this. Great video.
Hi Jeannie!! Thank you for all the thoughtful ideas for gift giving! And I love your style of decor it's so simple and beautiful! Less is more in my eyes too however I am trying to create memories for my kids. I too get stressed when there is so much going on all over the place. I love that nativity set with the star going around the house until Christmas! I most definitely want to get that for my children. At this point it'd probably be for next Christmas but it looks like SO MUCH FUN! What a great idea!! I hope you and your family have a blessed weekend! ❤️
So many good ideas. Thanks for the fabric company. I have a 9 year old daughter who is too tall for the size 16 dresses from Kohl’s anymore I don’t sew much but I’ve put as many ruffles on her dresses as I can. It does look very home- grown! I’ve been paying Etsy sellers to make a couple custom dresses for her but they are very expensive. Looking for cute but still long dresses is so hard! I’m not menonnite but am conservative Wesleyan and just want a nice midi-length . I will definitely check out that shop.
Love your videos, always meaningful, entertaining. And I just got a bag of your coffee. I hope in the future it will be lass expensive to ship. But I’m excited to try it. Merry Christmas ⛪️🦌🌲
Such great ideas, i Love the nativity set that you hide the star that is so special. Too bad my son is older that would have been a great thing to have. I'm gonna have to look for the Awe of God book it sounds like a great read. The children are growing so fast, tell them to Please slow down a bit.😊 Take care and sending gentle hugs and prayers for you and your precious family from Ephrata❤🤗😘❤🙏
I loved this video🤍🤍 also the fabric😍😍 I do sew my own dresses so I’m always interested in sewing videos and fabric hauls😉 I plan to be checking out Sew Unique🫠 also you should make a video of all the dresses you make if that’s something you would be interested in😉
For the Christmas books, i love reading and buying new books for my children. But if you want to make it more budget friendly just borrow some books from the library.
Thanks for putting out video about the coverings God use your voice to speak to me about the truth I was searching for I wasn't at peace in my mind if it was your hair or actually a vail but now after watching your video I believe you suppose to wear a headcovering. ❤❤❤❤😀
I always look forward to your videos! You have such a sweet family. Your home is beautiful and even more so with your decorations. I also love your recommendations. I just wanted you to know you are a blessing! ❤

Your decorations are beautiful.Ars you goimg to get a tree eventually? I remember as a child looking between the branches with the shining lights and it was like a wonderland,an amazing forrest. The kids would love a tree I think.I remember my mom carrying me downstairs after I had fallen asleep and she showed me tge beautiful tree shinning in the dark It made Christmas even more special although I knew it was really about Jesus birth
Trees are so beautiful! Traditionally, it's not a practice we as Mennonites have done, but I personally love them and think they are beautiful. And I love the memories it makes for children. Maybe someday we will. I don't know (: Thanks for sharing your beautiful childhood memories.
The number of videos with children in their diapers or just their little bums sitting on counters where food is prepared --- never allowed my children (who are now parents themselves) to be sitting on counters and my grandchildren are also not allowed! Seems though that times have changed with some young parents! 👎😰
Yes, very good point! I noticed that too, after I made the video. I'm not sure why she didn't have leggings on. I rarely have her in a dress without something over her pamper. I agree with you. I actually remember after the video, I went and got her some cuz it caught my attention. But thanks for sharing your ick. I agree with you. Another ick of mine, is bathing kids in the kitchen sick. Just can't stomach it.
Thank you for acknowledging that not only Mennonites like to sew. I'm not Mennonite, I just enjoy watching and learning your culture. I sewed all of my prom dresses myself when I was in high school. I want to fill cute little jars of fresh homemade jam and a fresh loaf of homemade bread for our childrens teachers this year.
Love it!! That would be a perfect gift
One thing I love about driving through the Lancaster area is how many people have candles in their windows, gives it such a charming feel! Love it!!
Paul Tripp has an advent Devotional - Come let us adore him
You can read a chapter of Luke each day.
There is a NIV coloring Bible, I love too!
I really LOVE your videos!!❤
I didn't know that. Thanks for sharing about his book.
I want to learn how to make dresses so soooooo bad!
Good memories for the children

So true! My 5, 7, and 11’yr old remember the smallest things!
I love the garland on the beams
John Bevere has indeed put voice to the single most important need of the Body today. We have become much more familiar than reverential in modernity. Kudos for recommending The Awe of God.

I like the pillow, you just need 2. I really like what you’ve done with your decorations.

😆 it was not vibing
You picked some nice decor. I love the count-down nativity. 🎄💚✨
A puppy. We all will take that for Christmas 😂😂
I enjoy your videos, your Christian help and your happy nature. 🌻🌻🌻

Everything looks great! The candles in the windows are a great idea!!
I heard of a family that puts the nativity set up but don’t add baby Jesus until Christmas Day. I like that.
It’s obvious now you mention it!
I never thought of it that way. I like it!
If you have not returned the pillow yet …..throw it on your window seat by the door in the kitchen. It is amazing and would look lovely there
Great idea!! But I did return it already...

✍Hello again...Loved the music🎶 such a pretty rendition🎶 Your manger scenes are really pretty. Oh and the candles so beautiful. I always loved candles in the windows. Thanks for sharing your beautiful childhood memories.
Hi, I’m a new subscriber. Do you ever do thrift shopping? Love watching those videos
Welcome! I don't do much of it anymore. It's very time consuming and currently I have other things I prioritize. But I do enjoy it
Hi Jeanette, Everything looks beautiful!! Where did you get the little nativity scene/figures? I love that.
It's willow tree. I just put it in the description. They are more expensive, but sometimes you can find them on marketplace used
Do you do sewing videos, too
Do you all wrap gifts and hand them out Christmas morning? Trees are over the top but I have one 🤪
Trees are beautiful! (: Yes, we do! Sometimes we do it Christmas eve.
Also wondering to mail a Christmas card to your family is your shipping address the one to use?
Thank you so much! We love mail. ❤️ yes the address in my about is correct
How long is the coupon good at Sew Unique? Lois
She didn't give me an expiration date. So I'm not sure...
Where is your white nativity scene from?
So I don't see any of the links? I have a really cheap phone so maybe it's the phone?
I was interested in the book
Under the video title click on the more button. And it will pull up the description 🙂
Do you not have a Christmas tree or are you intending to get one as I can’t remember whether you do are you done with love from me
Why don’t you have a tree.
Where did you get the count down and wooden nativity set?
I have everything linked in the description
The number of videos with children in their diapers or just their little bums sitting on counters where food is prepared --- never allowed my children (who are now parents themselves) to be sitting on counters and my grandchildren are also not allowed! Seems though that times have changed with some young parents! 👎😰
Not everyone is the same
Yes, very good point!
