It was obvious the Centur-ion player wasn't familiar with the matchup, but they were such a good sport I decided to try and help a bit. First of all, the matchup isn't as one-sided as chat made it out to be, with only Ex milling Agg being a little problematic. - We can easily "cheat" a wincon here using Packbit (the field spell counts S/T as well) locking them out of Detonator for the rest of the game as soon as the field spell negate is used. Preferably not use the effect on Synchro summon but instead crash it in battle so that we can abuse damage step shenanigans (Det wont pop itself, but note the potential Zeus if their trap is in play) - Setting up Primera in the backrow during game 2 then immediately going into Typhon would have solved the followup issue, the same would have if Wake milled either Bonds (for those who play it) or Phalanx so we can get followup in the end phase. Generally Typhon is great at dealing with Detonator requiring non-engine, and simply turning it off can allow you to setup plays for the followup turn using Stand Up or Emblema. Going for cleanup with SP was on but that SP could have become Typhon later, then after all that use the field spell to have Primera grab you some followup and Druis + Primera would be a double removal LIGHT/DARK Chaos Angel - Ryzeal works exactly like Centurion albeit their "bad" cards (field, reborn, trap) are infinitely better than ours (Atrii/Gargoil/Wake). This is why Josh waited on the Veiler for your extra deck monster. Going out on the little monsters gets easily punished if they drew more, hitting them on Duo Drive can be very annoying, also hitting them after they lock themselves into 4s will eliminate surprises such as pivoting into Fiendsmith where Desirae control seals the deal. - The handtrap lineup post side needs optimizing. For example, Imperm plays too much into Detonator (also doesn't work when drawn on the opponent's turn) so it's safer to have something in hand, while Ogre can be a bit situational. For that reason, Veiler and Mourner are excellent against them, while Droll is typically powerful enough to turn skip them or at the very least make them pass into Nib. Nib is exceptional when paired with a second handtrap, and Bystial control hits hard the Fiendsmith variants but will also overwhelm pure Ryzeal stacking up a lot of unfavorable annoyances (banishing Agg, the Xyzs in gy so the field cant grind, forcing the field spell on both turns since it doesn't destroy, stop the already difficult otk lines) Finally if you want an engine to help you extend, you should try Ascator. It's 4 cards giving you a synchro 8 without the normal summon. So basically the same as what Fiendsmith tries to do but with less cards in both main and extra. It has a much lower ceiling, yet it works very similarly to Sengenjin and keeps the Fiendsmith engine weaknesses out of the deck. Hope these help.
Sorry for the long comments, one addition for siding. While Ryzeal is a "shifter" deck, it can hurt quite a bit, especially Ex that creates most of our problems immediately turning of the field spell. If you go with Ascator instead of Fiendsmiths you can also play Shifter into them so that they won't get their bonus effects. For going second post-side, after you see they aren't on Fiendsmith (desirae cooks them) you can safely pivot into breakers such as Evenly that will typically go unanswered. One particular breaker that pairs well if you also play Fiendsmith is Metaltronus, targeting and negating (only) their Detonator then giving you an Underworld Goddess (LIGHT/3k ATK) thus becoming both an answer to their strongest end board piece and a full Fiendsmith combo in 1 card. The extra is too tight however for other applications. I personally prefer Xyz Encore, but it will give them followup so I prefer to pair this with Shifter
I'm just hoping that Ryzeal prices drop a bit. I don't expect Ryu-Ge prices but I don't want to pay current rates. I want the deck regardless, just at a logical price point.
The sad thing is, it won’t. Ryzeal is dominating YCS Anaheim with 14 out of 32 players in the Top 32, and 7 playing Maliss. That’s 21 out of 32 combined, that's similar to OCG percentages.
I know this isn't exactly a TCG question, but I'm wondering about opinions on Zoodiac Ryzeal when it comes to MD, I've seen it very fringly in OCG, but I'm wondering if it will be better in MD, considering 2nd Drident is a decent boost to the deck (mainly because of the Full Armor engine ATM, but I imagine Ryzeal does similar for that specific interaction), and 3 Barrage is a VERY large boost in all formats for Zoo even as a very minimal engine, especially considering that we're willing to play Tornado Dragon in this list and Drident can act similarly even if we only play say 3 Barrage, a Blade, and a Ramram
I am curious on what people use when it comes to dueling programs. I’d like to know people’s setups along with programs they use. Looks like a good way for testing
Hell yeah new background noise just dropped for my testing session on 100% Konami certified Ygo sims
This is my favourite content on this channel by far! Understanding the deckbuilding process and then testing the decks is just so exciting

They can dump Mereologic off Ex to negate their own field spell, or the Detonator stuck can be sent by some of the MD monsters
