    This is what I get for not doing my homework. I am now greaving, I just poured my apple water away because it smelled like it was off! I was going to make apple jelly. Thanks for this video it's not too late to recover from any mistakes, I can get more free apples. Using all my jars up and may have to scrounge for more (Honey, do you really need that cabinet?). Bev, I want to thank-you from the bottom of my heart for all the info you put out here for anyone that want to learn. Have been canning certain items for years but now am expanding my repertoire. I've been doing this since a teen, am now 63. Mom taught us how to seal with wax but not water bath. She asked me once what is was (no Mr Google then) and how to do it; I didn't have a clue back then. All of this would have made my mother smile. THANK-YOU!

    My Pleasure! I just did a 1/2 bushel of apples and so have started another 1/2 gallon jar of cores..and I am about to start ANOTHER bushel..we got 4 bags of deer apples at the farmers market this weekend for $10 !!! out of the 4 bags..I will get three bushels of good apples..the rest are badly bruised and mushy..but I still have a pig for the next few weeks!! Make sure you dehydrate some apples slices too!

    I would not top up the vinegar with un-fermented liquid..because the liquid is " Not Finished" yet..I just make a new batch as I have the cores to do so..yesterday I peeled and sliced another half bushel for drying..and started a new jar of cores.

    Ohhh I am so THRILLED you did this video!!! I have been wanting to do this for so long but again I was waiting on you. Haha. I have organic apples coming out of my ears!! The trees really produced this year!! I'm so excited to get at this considering I've been canning applesauce, apple pie filling and apple butter for a few weeks. I think my horses, goats and chickens are tired of apple cores. No pigs til spring to clean up the rest. Imagine all the vinegar I can have now!!Thanks again sweetie!!

    Its a mother which is the same as a scoby BUT its a scoby for apple cider vinegar so it only works for your apple cider vinegar. You can put it into apple cider too to make vinegar as well there's a few different ways of cheaply making cider vinegar. Apples are just SO expensive here. Maybe if next year my crab apple tree does well I can make some vinegar with it

    • @shawnsisler3743
      @shawnsisler3743 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GlenAndFriendsCooking You don't really need to add yeast, it occurs naturally in the wild. I will say that oxygen does need to be blocked and Co2 needs to be released, so some sort of venting needs to occur though, be it a wine/alcohol airlock or a homemade corncob situation or not. As long as she is using sweet and not tart apples or fruit there is probably plenty of sugar for the fermentation and alcohol process.
