Recently I finished up a fan project of The Overwatch movie. Been a year in the making and with my friends help we have poured every asset into making this film as top notch as it can get. Would you be interested in a video reaction if I sent you the link? I promise it's not just the clips in order of events, we took the time to make some serious changes to tie everything together.

Widowmaker's backstory is actually so damn sad and tragic. in her former life, Widowmaker was married to Gérard Lacroix, an Overwatch agent spearheading operations against the Talon terrorist organization. After several unsuccessful attempts to eliminate Gérard, Talon decided to change its focus to his wife, Amélie. Talon operatives kidnapped her and subjected her to an intense program of neural reconditioning. They broke her will, suppressed her personality, and reprogrammed her as a sleeper agent. She was eventually found by Overwatch agents, apparently none the worse for wear, and returned to her normal life. Two weeks later she killed Gérard in his sleep. Her mission complete, Amélie returned to Talon, and they completed the process of turning her into a living weapon. Slowing her heart beat and supressing all of her emotions expect when she kills. There is also the fact that every christmas she leaves flowers to his grava meaning her old peronality is still in there.
It’s my belief that, given what her cinematic said (at the moment of the kill, they never feel more alive) or something like that, she is a killer because it’s the only way for her to feel something anymore. Another layer of tragedy I’m afraid.
Fun fact. Ana has a sleep dart. When Pharah ults she says, "Justice rains from above!" If Ana sleeps an ulting enemy Pharah, she says, "It looks like Justice could use a nap." Thought that was funny / cute from the mom / daughter perspective.
There’s no way that’s true he came out like a year after the cinematic and it takes a long time to character design for games, he was most definitely in development before the reception
Made junker queen after hearing her voice in junkertown. Made echo cause she was in Cassidys short. Made Mauga and ramtra cause he’s in the comics. They made a lot of people.

I just love the small detail in the Soldier 76 short, at the end when he's watching her walk back home. Means he made sure she got home safe before he went on!
For me, the lore of this game is what made me a fan and kept me invested. I like the gameplay as is, but I'm absolutely hyped for the upcoming PVE Story mode! I've bought official books, short stories and comics, because I love this fictional world and it's characters so much. These cinematics are a testament to the quality of this games worldbuilding. I hope you react to more Overwatch content in the future! My suggestion is all the Hero Gameplay trailers.
OW lore is what keeps me playing,, I'm fr nitpicking every voice line and piece of dialogue in the short stories and comics for little things about the characters. Recently got physical copies of the London Calling comics and it's so cool (iggy on top fr best omnic)

Yeah you’ll hear it if you are the one playing the hero, or if they are on the enemy team. I love genji’s ultimate voice line so much that I’m still not tired of hearing it after 500 hours on him.

1:06:06 Those were Genji, Jesse McCree/Cole Cassidy (his name was change) and Garbriel Reyes the man who would later be know by the name Reaper. You can even see the tests being done at 1:05:27. They were part of Blackwatch, Blackwatch was the covert ops section of the Overwatch team. Whereas Overwatch was a public group of heroes, Blackwatch engaged in secret missions that often included assassinations, torturing enemies, and other morally questionable actions. Later on Moira and Garbriel would go on to betray Overwatch Genji and Cole didn't.
So some backstory to the Bastion short - part of why Overwatch was originally created was the Omnic Crisis - basically self-aware AI robots who rebelled against their human creators and waged war against them, and Bastion units were basically the Omnics' frontline forces. His mission had been to attack Stuttgart, Germany, but Bastion himself was damaged in the battle, basically knocked out for over 10 years in the forest. So that was the reason for the waypoint when he woke up, he was resuming what he believed to be his current mission, not knowing that peace between the Omnics and humans had been achieved.

But the factories restarted under the command of the AI Anubis, who went rogue and restarted all the omniums, starting off the war. What led to the original shutdown of Omnica was the creation of the first sentient Omnic, Aurora, though at the time of the Crisis, she was the only truly sentient one, all the others were non-sentient (so the AI controlling them was self aware, the Omnics themselves were not, so an error in my understanding in my original comment). Eventually during the Crisis, Aurora sacrificed herself to transfer her sentience to the other Omnics, which was the spark that eventually led to the end of the war.

The Overwatch cinematics are kinda like Tales from the Borderlands (the original one as I haven't played the sequel yet). They're both written well enough that anyone with an open mind can enjoy them. Even without knowing anything about their respective series.
I guess someone must have mentioned it already, but Im gonan say it anyway. I think the Crusader's armor is literally their coffin as they fall in battle, They will just be left there in honor of the crusader.
It's also very likely that the castle in Eichenwalde belongs to him. Balderich was born in Eichenwalde, and the Junkenstein versions of the area are known as "Adlersbrunn". Adler was Balderichs family name. It's loose, but Adlersbrunn can translate to "Source of Adler" if you stretch it (Brunn means things like Fountain, Source of a River, etc). He has no known family, and Eichenwalde has been mostly abandoned since the battle, short of presumably Rein and possibly Torb. Basically, the entire city is a memorial to the crusaders and their leader, with Rein being the only known survivor. The whole reason for the Payload Mission on Eichenwalde is that Defense is trying to prevent the taking of Balderich's body.
Loved your reactions to this & glad to see you get into the characters. I don't play it much anymore myself, but one thing Blizzard does well still is their Cinematics. You really feel for the characters as if you knew them for a long time. Also, Mei is of Chinese origin. Although in game she is an annoying character to fight she is still one of my favorites representing as someone who is also Chinese. Also her story like a lot of the others really had me in tears. I have to say also if you ever think of checking out Arcane even as some who has maybe played 2 games of League of Legends even I found the series worth watching. I find their lore interesting too even if the game isn't something I'd get into.

Man, this brings me back to watching these for the first time. I was so excited to play the game. Overwatch was the FIRST game I've ever bought and immediately loved. . . and then I played it for a few years. I admire the effort that's gone into the game, but a part of me wished they put an inkling of that effort into an animated series. Arcane did it and absolutely annihilated that success standard. I'm still holding out hope they create a series. I think, if given time and attention, it could be stunning!

I honestly want Alejandra (the girl Solider saves) to be a playable hero at some point. Like an older version of her.. Inspired by Solider to become a hero. :) Yep Ana is Pharah's mom.. The looks run in the family O.O
Since overwatch 2 went to 1 tank per team you really have to utilize map geometry better so ironically rein kinda plays like how he started in the cinematic but you do need to know your limits obviously. Absolutely love these cinematics though thank you for the videos and regardless of you try overwatch 2 out or not, Im glad you enjoy the cinematics, the best in the industry imo.
What’s sad is that Rein used to be able to do a good job shielding his team even agains bastions but with how much he’s been changed, he can hardly keep it up for over 10 seconds.
Oh we definitely for sure need a movie still, or several. And a tv series, the lore and the story of Overwatch is absolutely astounding! So much expansive details to build on. The cinematics are ofc astonishing and beyond great. But want more! Blizzard is sleeping on this for sure, we know from Arcane that there is success they can get here.. but seems they are dragging their heels for whatever reason Oh well, atleast we have all the animatics lore videos and cinematics to come back to! Sadly Overwatch 2 has not gotten as much love as far as cinematics that went into these. But yes I love these ones. I'd played Overwatch since its release. I hope they pick up the slack.
You can't rebuild omnics, at least not these humanoid ones. They actually have sentience and consciousness and aren't AI. And if you get to Ramattra's origin later on, you'll learn that the omnic race is a single generation, all the omnics alive are the only ones left, forever, so if they die that's it
Because those 3 characters are the most recognizable characters in the industry. You can’t go a day without seeing a Dva cosplay, Tracer is the cover girl of the game and Mercy is a huge fan favorite. It’s crazy how that works 😭

Mccree and Genji were a part of Blackwatch which was a branch of overwatch but they didnt join talon afterwards like the others

Since overwatch 2 went to 1 tank per team you really have to utilize map geometry better so ironically rein kinda plays like how he started in the cinematic but you do need to know your limits obviously. Absolutely love these cinematics though thank you for the videos and regardless of you try overwatch 2 out or not, Im glad you enjoy the cinematics, the best in the industry imo.

Oh we definitely for sure need a movie still, or several. And a tv series, the lore and the story of Overwatch is absolutely astounding! So much expansive details to build on. The cinematics are ofc astonishing and beyond great. But want more!

Sadly Overwatch 2 has not gotten as much love as far as cinematics that went into these. But yes I love these ones. I'd played Overwatch since its release. I hope they pick up the slack.

And if you get to Ramattra's origin later on, you'll learn that the omnic race is a single generation, all the omnics alive are the only ones left, forever, so if they die that's it
