    The first thing to do when looking at apartments in a converted building is to pound the walls. A lot of conversions have nothing but drywall between you and your neighbour, which isn't ideal if your neighbour is a cop going through a serious issue with his girlfriend or someone who loves to play combat video games at volumes high enough to feel that you are immersed in the simulation yourself ( just some examples....maybe). Corner apartments are thus ideal, and the higher the better as to minimise the chances of a leadfooted neighbour above you.
    I do totally agree with the idea of natural light being a high priority, and as much counter space in the kitchen as can be reasonably expected. Location of the building is of course the main attraction, but in a city where you may be driving a lot ("everything is far away in Texas"?) one may also want to consider traffic to and from home during certain hours or events being held downtown, if that is a thing in Dallas.
    One odd thing about floor plans, especially for one bedroom apartments, is the popularity among architects for having the bathroom positioned so that guests have to tromp through the bedroom to get to the toilet. The convenience of having the bathroom nearby the bed is great, but sometimes having privacy for the bedroom is nice too. I prefer the extra half bathroom or a detached bathroom from the bedroom. Just my few centavos....

    Moving is not fun. I remember living in an apartment and now live in a house. Loud to me is slamming doors and people blasting their music past midnight. I would go there on the weekend to give myself an idea what it's like because more people are at home. That might give you an idea what your neighbors are like before you sign a lease.

    You are just like me when it comes to apartments. If I’m paying all that money, I need the view that you’re charging me for. Dallas is beautiful❤

    i have a friend who lives in 1900 Pacific and he loves it! i would also recommend the Turtle Creek-Katy Trail area for safety wise, and also being walkable to a lot of stores/places to eat!

    I love this content because I work for a company that builds high rise apartment buildings in Dallas and it's fun to compare these to what we've built. We built AMLI Fountain Place in downtown and The Victor in Victoy Park, along with a couple of others in DFW!

    I’m glad you didn’t go with the Mosaic, I lived in Dallas for a couple years and that building was always very sketch, I went there a few times and it was very loud and the parking situation is a mess. Stay safe ❤️

    I hope if you move you get the 2br that is 60$ more at that last place you viewed the 1br was so pretty. I just moved into my dream apt all redone white everyth and grey wooden floors. I had to wait for one on the 3rd floor it was worth the wait. Love you girl 😸

    Marlee zonked out on the coach kept grabbing my attention in the beginning ... Sweet, Sweet, Serenity! Coolness! Apt situation sounding MUCH better. As with all problems ... they must be properly identified to be remedied. That the contractor also talked about non apparent window seals seems a signal he was knowledgeable and thorough in his inspection. Problems probably should have been fixed long before you moved in. I think before you said the manager was a "sweetheart" ...ability to placate and "handle the situation" and maybe eager to fill out all the maintenance "band-aid" requests you desire while failing to realize the situation called for more expertise in the matter. Some shallow people skills but not so much on critical thought. How long has it been going on? How long would it have continued if you hadn't gone up the proverbial management "food chain" to address the issue properly? I mention this as it might be useful to remind them you were not just a complaining tenant but took an active role to force the identification of a structural defect. The longer a structural defect remains hidden the greater the water damage and the greater the cost to fix - in other words - he would have kept putting band-aids on it if you hadn't gone up the chain. So it just seems reasonable they should show some appreciation and be somewhat accommodating to your future plans - whether that be rent reduction, maybe something as simple as a reduction of past rent applied as credit to future rent payments, another unit, or lease termination - as to your preferences. If it wasn't for you pushing the issue how long before they would have realized they had a structural defect beyond typical maintenance fixes and at what cost? A Thank You might be appropriate as well - Just Sayin'! Peace out!

      Yeah I’m glad it’s not taken more seriously. But this started back in mid August hahaha so hopefully when they come seal everything, all will be better again

    • @quintusmaximus7295
      @quintusmaximus7295 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is looking GOOD! You just found this place that fit your needs and literally "some rain fell" and moving is an option if it becomes necessary ... But the previous trend was wheels spinning aimlessly with no solution on the horizon ... YOU took strong action to change the trend line to a direction of a solution ... GO YOU! On a couple other positive notes - You now know the managerial staff's "philosophy or mentality" when it comes to issues and that could be useful in any future dealings - and - Checking out apts makes for some interesting content and it seems like you enjoy it as well. YOU ... changed the trend line while also looking for a backup ... You got this!

      @@MadisonWestbrooke I saw your apartment tour film and the large walk in closet would be a perfect spot for it (in the deep corner). It's hidden and there's plenty of carpet so your cat won't track any litter out onto the bathroom floor. If you're worried about your clothes smelling because of it don't be because I've had no issues with it in my parent's house.

    The guild is building apartments in Santander tower right now too!!! Floors 18-25 and 38-39 will be all apartments soon. Right now they have VBRO type rentals on floors 49 and 50. (just stayed there myself) Check out their 1 bedroom VBRO type rental, can't beat the location!! th-cam.com/video/aAuruaShNr4/w-d-xo.html

      She’s only moving this time because she’s had so many issues with her current apartment. Ideally she doesn’t want to move and I would assume the next place she lives she’ll be in for a while
