3rd year apprentice here and I'd just like to give my 2cents. One of the things i was thought early in my apprenticeship is to have a good attitude, take pride in your work, and being consistent. Other than my tools, these are the 3 things I carry whenever I'm working with different journeymen.
My son will be 11 soon and he laments he is not permitted to earn a wage yet, however, he notices the passion and purpose of electricians and even plumbers (i.e. Roger Wakefield ;/)). Any tips on mock ups or other training/paid work for any child, before high school and beyond? Thanks.
I'd say get him in youtube vids about handy basic DIY activities while he gets his basic theory down, an ask the school if they could get him into early extra curricular courses for an paid apprenticeship or tradieship we have things like that over here in Aus. Builds his confidence and self esteem at home in a encouraging atmosphere an lots of schools offer programs that are geared towards one of the trades. Worth looking into. If you know a Electrician or something ask if he could get a bit of handy on jobsite experience doing basic chores while hes taught otherwise there are electrician vids online you can follow here on yt that show a lot of what the on the job tasks might be an what might occur during a job that is unexpected useful experience.

I’m applying to a pre-apprenticeship program here. I’m so excited to start my journey into the trades!
