    Dear Kirby,
    I work at a small leather shoe boutique that sells products from the likes of Alden, John Lobb, Tricker’s, and Paraboot. We recently received our order of the Invuner from the Kirby Allison store. It arrived quite fast! We appreciate it, however, the packaging paper seemed to have some small cockroaches nesting in it.
    Great video, and thank you to your team for the timely delivery.

      Indeed it is. For one pair of shoes, i dont need more than 50ml-100ml water + around 10-20ml of shampoo.

    I've watched several of your videos and few of them I've watched multiple times. This is one of the multiple-view videos. I am in the process of restoring a few high-end handbags, some with suede accents, and with the guidance in this video and the products mentioned, good results are assured. I've seen so many strange approaches to cleaning leather and suede so when I want to know what won't damage my item, I come here. As a funny sidebar, I now look at cleaning/polishing any leather/suede item and think "Hmmm, what would Kirby do?" /laughing Thanks for all you do.

    Thanks for a video. But I must say that was a total overuse of shampoo. Personally, I use it either neat or diluted 1:1 with water. When it's neat the cleaning goes much more dryer. There is still lather but less water. Probably good for very delicate suede. Anyway, for me it's enough about 1oz of shampoo(neat or diluted) on a pair. Looking this video one may suggest a100ml bottle is only good enough for two cleanings))

    Just bought a new pair of AE Tate Chukka Suede boots. I got the Saphir water proofing spay that you used in this review. I would assume I should put it on the boots before I wear them the 1st time? Do you use the brush after the application of the water proofing has dried or wait a while before using a brush. I have the Saphire Crape Wood Brush to use on the boots. Thanks again for all your great content.

    I'm adding this question as a top-level thread in case someone else is wondering the same. I have been charged with dying a very deep blue, nearly black, pair of Ecco loafers. Because the shoes are so deeply pigmented already, I'm thinking I could properly prepare the shoes [as shown here] and then use Saphir Renovateur Suede & Nubuck Conditioning Spray in black. I don't think I need to go to the point of Saphir Decapant then Saphir Teinture Francaise Dye, however, it's worth a sanity check.

    • @kirbyallison
      @kirbyallison  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      What color are you trying to take them? Black?

    • @CoriZuppo
      @CoriZuppo 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ugh, yes dyeing to black. I was twice interrupted by The Golf Shoe Project, which is a soliloquy of woe for another day. Heh.

    • @kirbyallison
      @kirbyallison  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The pigment on the Saphir Renovating Suede & Nubuck sprays are not meant to change the color. The pigment is quite light (similar to a shoe polish) and is meant only to accent or fill-in an already-existing finish. You could try it, but I don't want to guarantee it will deliver the exact results you are looking for because I've never tested it in this application.

    • @CoriZuppo
      @CoriZuppo 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That makes sense. With regard to dye, some suede and leather dyes [not acrylic paints] seem to leave a purplish cast. Does the Saphir Teinture Francaise black give a true black finish (assuming correct preparation and application)?

    • @kirbyallison
      @kirbyallison  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Do these products work on shoes that are made with different colour suede. I have a few pairs of suede Oxford brogue shoes that are made with 2 and sometimes 3 different colours of suede. I call them Gatsby's because they evoke the two tone style of the 20s but I don't know if there is another name for them. The shoes themselves are quite expensive (Purchased in Jermyn Street, London), and so I don't want to mess up caring for them. I also have a pair that are mixed materials with a strong canvas laid over leather and calf leather toe cap and sides. These are in a Derby style. They are two tone as well (Chestnut Brown leather and camel colour canvas. What should I use on them? Any advice and recommendations for products are greatly appreciated.

    I really like the Saphir Renovateur Suede Spray and the Super Invulner, and use both after cleaning with the Omni'Nettoyant. I follow up with using the Super Invulner every once in a while. But when do I use the Renovateur again? I wasn't sure when to spray the Renovateur again. Wouldn't spraying the Renovateur over Invulner prevent it from being absorbed into the suede?

    • @kirbyallison
      @kirbyallison  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would recommend using the Saphir Renovating Suede & Nubuck Spray periodically. Basically, it is reapplying a light pigment and helping to condition the suede. Definitely after using the Omni'Nettoyant, though. But otherwise, every few months.

    Do you have to use Renovateur spray on new shoes? When is it necessary to nourish suede shoes with Renovateur? Can you do without this product if you keep them clean with a brush and apply Super Invulver spray? And will the Renovateur get through the Super Invulver to 'feed' the suede?

    • @kirbyallison
      @kirbyallison  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Super Invulner will not feed the suede since it does not contain any of the almond oil used in the Saphir Renovateur Suede & Nubuck Spray.
      The Saphir Renovateur Spray does a good job conditioning (it's the only such product available) and help elevate the natural "shine" of suede. It wouldn't hurt to use on a new pair of suede shoes, but might not be totally necessary.
      As far as how often, I would recommend using it a few times a year. Of course, that depends on wear.

      There is no reason you can't run a leather sole under the faucet. Especially if you immediately dry off any excess water.

      wowbagger68 The Saphir Omni'Nettoyant can be used on any textiles, so you could use it on shearling. I would test it on a small area first, though.

      @@DavakiDnD I understand and completely agree about the learning part, and I am more than happy to be lenient and helpful when possible to people who are trying to learn another language and making an effort. This however is not someone learning another language, it is the usage of some very specific words. Were I going to publish something like this, I would either research how to say the words and their pronunciation, or alternatively, translate them (Nettoyant= Cleaner or cleaning product) and have the full name on screen (which he does). It seems to me that if your channel is branded with the tagline "Quality, Craftsmanship, Tradition" you should ensure that you are doing quality work on your craft, including the usage of other languages. Still, it's useful information, and I appreciated the help I got.

    • @frankpichardo5299
      @frankpichardo5299 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Christopher K Maybe the issue is that chairs have sponge inside. I’d probably shampoo the chair, then I’d use a damp towel to thoroughly wipe off shampoo, instead of running water on it.

    Also, you mentioned that the Super Invulner is safe on any leather. Would you recommend using it for normal calf skin dress shoes as part of routine care? If so, would it go over/after the polish and wax? Even with the polish/wax, I am concerned about the shoes getting water stains, so I was wondering if I should apply the Super Invulner on top of the polish/wax. If so, would that change the weekly/bi-weekly maintenance with regular polish/wax? Thank you, love your products!

    • @kirbyallison
      @kirbyallison  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are concerned about water stains, then the Saphir Super Invulner Medaille d'Or would be perfect for your calfskin shoes. And, yes, it is completely safe to use! It would be the last thing you apply.
      What's great about the Super Invulner is that it will not leave any rings and isn't forever permanent, like something like the Tarrago Nano Protector. One water stops to bead, just reapply.
