The Breen buck was in a management area in SE MN. The area was adjacent to a refuge. Locals in the area have followed these large bucks for years. There is a great bloodline there and plenty of refuge to keep the big boys safe during the hunting season.
Not the way you want to end a story but you still got him for recovery, still a bummer. I sure hope you find the missing set of sheds he dropped past spring. John Breen Buck is my all time favorite above all and next is Mel Johnson’s. Even your 200 5x5 is awesome I like that big ole beast and if I ever get lucky and score a 200 buck I for sure gonna full body mount.
I found a huge dead buck 22 wide 12 points hung up in a fork of a tree somehow and it died.I was on public land during gun season near a road so I decided to call the DNR and ask how I would take the horns since the meat was spoiled they said I could put my tag on it and take it that way .I said heck no than they asked where is it they would send a warden out and look at it and put a value on it and I could buy it from them .I hung up.
@dcranch4820: I find sheds all time without rodent damage. The one had one set of squirrel teeth in it, couldn’t imagine seeing a squirrel try to carry a shed that weighs as much as it and is 3 times bigger.
@@TODinWYI use my iPhone constantly when I hunt. How do you think I find new hunting areas? I have the DCNR app on my phone so if I see someone interesting and I don’t have a tag for it, I can buy it in the moment and be fully legal lol.
Everyone who has history with a buck like that says that! N we call all the bucks we have on cam our bucks! It walks down the road n gets shot n he is whoever killed him buck! Just a way ppl speak about the deer they are after and following!
@@dustincaso6781 you don’t have to have the the physical tag? We (in Iowa) can purchase a tag online (or on the app) but the electronic receipt is not valid for taking the animal. Once the physical paper tag is in hand you are legal to take deer. Correct me if I’m wrong
You can’t judge deer age by antler size, I’ve seen 3 year old deer carrying 200+” racks. You have the deer have a biologist age it using its teeth it’s the only proven method to accurately age wild deer. Everything else is just assumptions
Years ago I killed a three-point buck I saw that there for at least 3 years so probably 4:00 but he never had more than three but they were the one was 26 inches long with the curve and the other one was 24 with the 1 just a strange dear it didn't have any injuries
@ I’m not sure who lead you to believe that Roth wear in deer is only 61% accurate but that’s a lie. Aging deer by tooth wear is location specific due to what they eat but is far more accurate than 61%. Most deer biologists would say it’s closer to 95% accurate.
@@DavidVance-p8z exactly it works both ways, some deer can grow huge racks at a young age while others have smaller racks at a old age. Genetics play a large role in it all as well as their diet & availability of nutrients they need. It’s not always an injury that makes a deer grow a funky rack although it is a common occurrence.
Can't believe the warden did not keep the skull for testing of EHD or CWD. Either way sad story I'm glad you found him! He could have returned the skull after testing to you.
7, Possibly 8? Amazing! Down South in our neck of the woods bucks don't live that long unless they are in a pen. We know for a fact that dominant bucks can and will range 6 or 7 miles during rut. No one around here has a lease that large, Making him anyone's buck.
When I first started hunting deer you had to hunt them and I mean hard and lot of years never seen nothing and now you just go out and shake it a bucket of corn for Bucky and sit down and shooting you can name him pick up the sheds every year but is that hunting
"Our buck" - just classic. Come on man - round 1 Need more information... How was this deer found? Watching birds? a dog found it? Why were you looking there? All missing pieces to this video. Come on man - round 2 Also, how can you judge the age of the deer by the pedicles? You know you have the send in the jaw/teeth of the deer to make "for certain" statements regarding the age. Come on man - round 3.
More context, please... when was last picture or sighting? How did you find him, already? Not far from road way.. but out shed hunting already? Just walking the land and stumbled upon him? Rut, gun wound, old age or covid kill him... 😮
@ hit by a car and how far away is the nearest road? That deer was healthy. It sounded like the conservation officer knew. They also found the deer days prior to this taking place. Something doesn’t sit right. But if he made a bad shot on film he needs to kill another buck to make a video. Or he already killed another buck and made damn sure you wouldn’t see a low back hit. But like the officer said deer just die. It’s nature. If the buck was in fact 8 which it wasn’t he was probably 5-6 but say he was 8 he probably died chasing does.
On opening weekend of rifle i missed my big 9 point some how he came in at 82 yards and i aimed at his chest and somehow shot low i atleast got a doe its not how i wanted to go but i accidentally spined her and she had a bigger fawn with her I felt bad i took 3 more shots and she still wasnt dead so i walked up on her when my step dad came and ended it with a 350 legend it sucks but it is what it is the big fawn is doing fine we've got her on trail camera still i just dont understand how the doe wasnt dead after the first shot i was using a HNR rifled 12 gauge she started crawling and then i took another shot but shot her in the hip the big fawn took off running looked back when the other doe screamed then i tried aiming for the neck to end real quick but shot her in the shoulder i just felt bad for how she went out it happens its part of hunting the fawn is doing fine
Sight your gun in, not sighting your gun in is disrespectful to what you’re hunting. That or need to take a breath and exhale while shooting to stay steady.
So many negative comments makes me think a lot of guys are envious and jealous. You guys keep doing what your doing enjoy the channel! 🦌🦌

I would have thought the DNR Officer would have had a metal detector just incase.
Depending on the type of metal, even that may not work.
Sad story but an impressive deer.
Never the way you want to get them!

Interesting, we’ve never had that happen!
Funny no rodent damage on any of those horns. Truly a great treasure to own. Would be awesome to find the missing set!
We hope we can find them!

one of "our" bucks. unless you are high fenced it could be anyone's buck if it wanders across the line. Arrogant selfishness is killing hunting.
What's killing hunting, and society in general, is hunter recruitment and the I-phone.
Oh go hunt your public land and stop whining

The Hansen was supposedly less than 4.

CWD they say is here in Pa but we people who are here don't see it anywhere fear mongering is real
It’d be worth a look.
Those are some great antlers to bad no one was able to tag him
All part of the cycle. In Wisconsin the DNR would have probably charged you at least $250 to keep or claim the head.
That is crazy!

I'd blame coyotes or wolves
is it just me or is thw 2022 antlers the biggest .... seems the highest scoring would be the 2022 antlers?
They are all super close. We might have to score each set

Yeah, but they named him, so that makes him their buck. 🤣🤣

Still mentioning the sponsors… even in this situation…frickin sad…😕🤦🏻

They watched him grow from fawn to trophy, Gomer
Pretty easy to age them when you watch them grow.
We have pictures of him for years -Round 4
@ yeah, pictures of “our buck”
Do better
Okay.and some of Bigfoot too@@DrivenHunter
Hi
Close to what building? I smell a rat.

They probably flew a drone over or shot him a couple days before they found him kind of random they stumbled across.
Those are previous year sheds.
And if you listen they didn't see any shots. Most likely hit by a car

As close to the road as you found him makes you wonder if he might have been hit by a vehicle.
Boo hoo hoo!Deer hunter's today make me sick.
Yep, it’s getting bad. All these rich companies making it a rich man sport.
