      @@dondada8534 trust me they wont. Take it from the youtube comment section, if you feel something is wrong ask them to give them their phone to you so you can go through it with them. Also dont follow their socials. Check in once in a while, but dont follow. They either block you, make another acc, or just not feel right to express themselves. Set boundaries, but dont be too strict. Also, dont go through every text. Some are fine, but literally going thru every text is unnecessary. Plus if you are too protective or snoop, the relationship can be damaged or broken. They probably wont trust you and will be protective and hide things from you

    Nothing pisses me off more than parents trying to "catch" their kids in the act. Why scar them so badly and yourself. Give advice and be smart but draw a line of privacy somewhere and let go of control. The thought they will just grosses me out.

    • @The_Custos
      @The_Custos 4 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Is it really scarring if a parent finds and takes away something children shouldn't be looking at? 🤔

    • @Wishfull171
      @Wishfull171 4 ปีที่แล้ว +243

      @@The_Custos it's not scaring to take away what is wrong for them, make rules and boundries, etc. What I think is very wrong and scarring is trying to witness and catch them actively doing something that will greatly embaress them and make them feel deep shame. Not to mention feel like they have no personal boundries.

    • @The_Custos
      @The_Custos 4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@Wishfull171 you are clear, but embarrassment is not scarring either. You are using imagery, scarring, but if children are doing or looking at the wrong things, why shouldn't they be embarrassed? If they are embarrassed they know it is wrong, they are simply embarrassed because other people now know.
      One of the stories covered how when a boy would start to give lip back to his parents the past embarrassment would be brought up. First, he should be respectful, and second if he did something embarrassing this can of course be used against him in the future. So...? Don't do embarrassing things!
      We tolerate far too much, but the costs still get paid, and children get into all sorts of warped shit. Embarrassing is not scarring, pointing out what is wrong is not scarring either, and shame is useful to control wayward behaviours. If parents' don't do their jobs children will turn out corrupted by so much of the depravity around us. Then they will be harmed and have to dig themselves out later (see porn and drug addiction).

    • @Wishfull171
      @Wishfull171 4 ปีที่แล้ว +116

      @@The_Custos Yes, but that scenario implies the reason those children will do what their parents think is right, is because those parents will exploit their children's actions and damage their self esteem and self worth by making them feel that they themselves are wrong and gross, instead of understanding why certain actions are. If any parent would rather their child learn through embarrassment and shame rather then conversation and understanding, then that is their choice. But it's a very toxic one that I think the parent should then dig within themselves to understand what issues they have that can cause such strong negative feelings that they will use unhealthy tactics to control their kids and damage their self image and opinion of themselves. There's no need to embarrass and publically shame a kid when you can easily have a conversation and set boundaries. Sure the first can be effective, but those parents shouldn't be surprised when they see what great hiders their kids become as a result of fear of ever experiencing that again and what people think of them, and also creates great resentment towards the parents that can take years if ever to be dealt with and healed from. There's a difference in teaching someone not to do something because it makes them gross and everyone will judge them, and instead respectfully discuss any issues and help them understand the power certain things have and why boundaries are set and not crossed.

    • @The_Custos
      @The_Custos 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@Wishfull171 why not both? Conversation is good, but shame works too, and really has its place. As for resentment, yeah if parents are right, and not hypocrites, children will realise with maturity that the parents were right--as I later realised with my parents and how I was raised. My wife and I were both raised strict. We will both probably be Tiger parents. 🐯 🐯
      If kids do embarrassing and very wrong things, laugh and correct, or shame and correct. Parents have to correct or we all get brats.

Best place to hide (weed in particular, but also other small things) is the inside oof a lamp, piece of electronic such as a PC (desktop PCs are great for this since you can hide so much in one and your parents will never think to open it and check), taped to the inside of shirts hanging in the closet (this one works 99.99999% of the time unless your parents have somehow been told of this spot, which is unlikely)

      If these conversations were good, then why did the mother need to know who was hosting the party or the bad decisions of her friends? If something like suicide is what you are afraid of, you probably wont need to have secret comversations for someone to know that something is wrong. If yiu need secret conversations, that just brings into question how shaky your relationship will have to be. That would mean your child does not trust you. That would mean that these secret conversations, if found out, would do a lot more harm than good.

    When I was like 6 - 7, my mum took away my PS2 because I was misbehaving. She would always put it the bottom drawer of her nightstand. For some reason, I thought it would be a good idea to sneak it back while she was out grocery shopping. So I went looking for it. The only thing in the drawer was my PS2 and very old, thick book. I was instantly interested what the book would be about considering my mother NEVER read books so therefore it must be one hell of a book for her to even own it. I opened it up and to my horror, the book contained incredibly graphic, hand drawn pictures of sex positions along with long, detailed paragraphs about god damn everything to do with sex. I left my PS2 there and decided to ride my bike to clear my mind from seeing such traumatic images.

    My parents used to conveniently “reorganise” my room as they told me when I went for sleepovers as a teenager. They were definitely just invading my privacy and trying to make sure I didn’t do drugs. (My dad accused me and my friend at the age of 12 of having drugs. What we actually had was pizza) They never found anything interesting. I knew they did it so I never owned anything interesting. Worst they could do was tell me to hang up my tops instead of folding them. Did the same with my phone, nothing interesting here. Then they could never catch me out.

      Dustin Rodriguez yeah I think if a kid is like 12 and under it’s ok to monitor them once in a while, cause they’re more susceptible to weird shit like that scooby doo porn. So maybe tryna teach them why it’s wrong. But like 13 and up they start to have a more mature understanding and if they dig scooby doo porn then fuck it, why not, everybody’s got their thing. My Mom has a bad habit of *not* knocking & just letting herself in at anytime into my room or bathroom... While I'm still in there... Switched to night time showers, which helps me regain bathroom privacy for the most part.
    Biggest pet peeve is when she leaves stuff on my bed. I can't stand it when anyone leaves anything on my bed. You name it, I don't want it on my bed. Especially if it's clothes or items that came directly from the store & wasn't cleaned/washed first. Or if it's things that can't be thrown in the washing machine, like suitcases, shoes, the laundry basket itself, ECT.. Leave them either atop the dresser or on the floor. I had THE nosiest of parents (who will claim to this day that they aren’t) they often read my diaries when I was young so I learned at a very early age to keep everything on LOCK DOWN. everything was password protected, nothing was in writing, songs I wasn’t supposed to have on my iPod were under different artist and title names, no tab of social media was ever left open. They’re the kind of parents that had a location tracker on my phone till I was 20, would ask extremely detailed questions about what I was doing even if I just was going to the store. Thankfully they were also a bit naive and so before I did anything suspicious I always had about 12 backup-stories and lies prepared. Turned out to be good and bad when I got my first boyfriend (at 21, yes I know I’m a late bloomer) they were so incredibly over protective, demanding to see messages and shit but I refused and never let my phone anywhere they could grab. Not that it wasn’t password locked but stuff can come up on the screen. Me and my bf got away with SO much because of my skills he was honestly shocked at how well I could pull that kind of thing off and it’s because I’d been doing it for so long. However they also didn’t know just how depressed I was since I’d had years of practice hiding self harm tools and scars and eating disorders. So when said boyfriend left me after we’d been planning on getting married I had a break down and attempted suicide and my parents didn’t see it coming because of how sneaky I’d learned to be. They’re starting to realize now just how much I suffered silently through the years but they’re probably Triply as nosey (read journals for therapy, try to read the unsent letters I write my ex as therapy work, try to get things about my ex out of me, walk in on me in the bathroom, interrogate me on the daily about mundane things) I mean they have good reason now but it can be exhausting

Treat them how you'd want to be treated if you were them, but know what you know about life and the world, they will be the happiest most open person in the world with you if you grant them this luxury.. no snooping necessary, trust me you wouldn't believe how many stories I've been told that was never told to parents and even most friends to this day.. treat it like a problem and your kid will distance themselves from you in any of many shapes and forms,,, distance.., for the exact same thing... the world takes an unconscious interest in... pretty much following right after the start of their childhood..

But snapping on a clueless child, cmon we gotta stop, you might as well be angry at a dog for not coming with built in potty training.

    My parents found me reading adult fanfiction once when I was 14-15. Soon after regaining my parents' trust, I was allowed to browse freely on the Internet again.
    However, soon enough I started reading adult stories again.
    Now that I'm 18, I can read freely without getting in trouble, but I still use incognito mode for obvious reasons.
