My wife and I met Mike Howe snowmobiling in Maine. I knew who he was but kept that to myself. He was as nice as anyone I have ever met on the trails. Very down to earth genius.
One thing I really appreciate about Jay is that he is a true motor enthusiast. As a fan I really appreciate being exposed to vehicles I normally wouldn't pay attention to. Thank you Jay 🙏👊
Back in the late 70’s me and my buddy Dave were trucking out in East Texas. We passed an older gentleman out in one of his fields. He was apparently paralyzed and had made himself an easy chair with a Briggs and Stratton engine. It was the coolest thing. Not as cool as these guys but hey, it was 1978.
I'm in a wheelchair and would really benefit from having one like this. Unfortunately i live in Norway and here they don't allow things like this, only slow electrical wheelchairs that can't even get over a rock is allowed here! Max 10 kph / 6 mph.
Would they allow a tracked chair which cannot exceed 10 kph? This brand, actiontrackchair.com/ only goes 3 mph. I checked the Rip Chair it maxes out at 10 mph, but I bet they could make a governed version which can't exceed 6 mph.
If you google search X8 extreme powerchair it should yeild a result for a pretty capable electric powerchair. I hunt in the woods with one I borrow from a friend.
There is no reason why someone could not build an all electric tracked wheel chair with the ability to go over 30 mph+. I don't no the reason to have such a thing that goes that fast but can be done. In fact due to the fact that the motor would weigh less and have over 100 HP easily could make for one dangerous tracked wheelchair.
As a person with a disability who lives in a climate where there is a lot of snow in winter, something like this, but small enough to get through a 24 inch wide doorway, would be great!
The Rip chair is an awesome piece of equipment that certainly fills a need in the disabled community, I'm glad to see them get some mainstream coverage. Unfortunately due to the lower volume production nature of said vehicles make them far too expensive for a lot of the people who could make use of them to improve their daily lives.
Travis Hargiss tough hand, this chair won’t be cheap but if it truly means that much to you I’m sure if you contact them they may be able to do a deal or something, you don’t know until you try! I wish you the best
the Howe Bros have been fairly lucky as recent startup constructors of mil spec hardware. The RipSaw is with out a doubt a monster!Every middle aged child needs one to work out all the age and peer stresses!
These guys should pair with Trail Hero in Sand Hollow, Utah. The Trail Hero spends a lot of time getting people with disabilities out into nature through jeeps and trucks.
3:30 "...tanks that we build for the military" No. You have no contracts to build anything for the military. They've been evaluating the ripsaw for more than 10 years but still haven't secured any contracts.
I know R&D costs a lot but 40K? Maybe if they are mass produced it could bring down the price for average person in a chair. Side note: if tank driver puts on shoulder harness maybe a good idea to do the same.
The Hov-A-Round people say their chair will get you anywhere; even the Grand Canyon. This one not only gets you to the Grand Canyon, it takes you to the bottom and back.
The ripsaw would be great for Cav Scout operations; low profile, very fast and evidently very driver friendly. If it was mounted with a .50 cal and a SAW you could lay down a great base of fire if you really needed to get away from an enemy force. Of course it may be limited on the amount of ammo you could carry and there may need to be better protection for the tracks.
It was invented in the 1950's and the Marines fielded one with six 106mm reconciles rifles on it. I was in the US Army's Combat Developments, and one experiment took off the superstructure and it ran circles around the M60 tanks. I drove one. But much cheaper wire-guided missiles were coming into being, so they had a short life-span on the test. Why the M1 is big, with classified armor. Every army wants a cheap tank but the problem is that there are even cheaper anti-tank options.
Ripsaw? That thing is a beast, surely that's the way the suspension its suppose to work to bad I dont have the amount of money to buy one of those, nice video btw!
You would think it is waterproof for as much as it costs 🤔 . At least try to protect the interior from the rain . I think Jay changed his mind about getting one after he got wet
Great concept... How many people that need wheelchairs have an extra 40 grand laying around? They already tend to have a lot of extra expenses and it can be difficult for them to get good jobs if they can work at all. Now cut that price down to a few grand and it would be good but still hard to get.
They keep slamming the front end into the dirt. You would think by now they would have redesigned the thing to keep everything behind the front track wheel.

Thanks for going to see theses guys - They gave an employee a wheelchair accessible tank which means a lot.

I'm stationed all the way over in South Korea, but it was nice to see Jay having some fun in my home state of Maine!!
Thanks for serving!
A skid steer guts in a custom rig. Woooo weeeee wowwww. That hand control is standard remote for straight trucks with a boom.
Yeah sometimes the best part is already standard in another design and you just gotta be creative
Depending where in Maine u are u can jump on the snowmobile thruway and possible cross into Canada and get to California all on trails . Great video
I would totally install a bucket, plow, and roto-tiller then call it a Bobcat.
My father has a neighbor who has been using one of them for at least 4 years on a farm. He came by way out in my father's field and it was great!

You could easily gear this to have a lower top speed just change the final gear ratio
5:52 seing Jay this happy just made my day complete :)
Jay wakes up happy every day....
As a person with a disability who lives in a climate where there is a lot of snow in winter, something like this, but small enough to get through a 24 inch wide doorway, would be great!
Are you a elf in the North Pole?
Thanks for keeping us entertained Jay.
Jay I watch your channel more than any other. Keep it up.
Very cool....I can appreciate the motivation behind the design.

At 4:40 when Jay started sending it that was hilarious, made me so happy
How the heck did I miss this video?? So cool, had to be a fun time with Jay!
I’ve got a feeling Jay is gonna get one.
I need one so bad! To bad I can’t afford one. I’ll just have to stick with my manual chair.
If you are a disabled veteran, contact Jay directly. His heart is almost as big as his chin.
SirVic42 No I was born with a disability called Spina Bifida.
Travis Hargiss tough hand, this chair won’t be cheap but if it truly means that much to you I’m sure if you contact them they may be able to do a deal or something, you don’t know until you try! I wish you the best
Travis Hargiss ever heard of mine go fund me sites man look into it might take a bit but sure you could make it happen
Good! Build your arms up
Had a blast driving the big ones in the military.....
My fiancés uncle has a ripchair and it’s such a kickass work horse. Attach a trailer to it and use it for hauling split wood
Even if I didn't love Jay, that was very exciting to watch.
Jay you need to pull up to Arnold’s house with this. The call him a girly man
As long as no one gets violated.
He has a real tank
Don’t understand howe this is just coming up, something very special is coming for these guys.
the Howe Bros have been fairly lucky as recent startup constructors of mil spec hardware. The RipSaw is with out a doubt a monster!Every middle aged child needs one to work out all the age and peer stresses!
Bright ideas from J Leno and Howe and Howe tech
These guys should pair with Trail Hero in Sand Hollow, Utah.
The Trail Hero spends a lot of time getting people with disabilities out into nature through jeeps and trucks.
I designed the "Barrier Buster" in 1985, built it in 1991, an ATV for people in wheelchairs...
"I gotta get one of these." Whips out checkbook.....got one of those. Lucky Jay.
I'm honestly surprised Jay didn't already have one of these lol... super cool
Ripsaw! The off-road Mclaren!
3:30 "...tanks that we build for the military"
No. You have no contracts to build anything for the military. They've been evaluating the ripsaw for more than 10 years but still haven't secured any contracts.
It’s still an accurate statement they built it for the military.
The Ripchair is the Perfect Platform for a Paintball-Airsoft Tank.
Very cool indeed...Enjoyed the handshake at the beginning too : )
2 questions: Whats the MPG, and how much does a replacement track cost? (On the civilian tank)
I'm interested in that too.
If you have to ask you can't afford it
@@janeblogs324 Well I wouldn't have anywhere to park one anyway, but just curious.
Oh i saw one of those at the gun show, a couple years ago. That is pretty cool.
I know R&D costs a lot but 40K? Maybe if they are mass produced it could bring down the price for average person in a chair. Side note: if tank driver puts on shoulder harness maybe a good idea to do the same.
Street legal? I don’t think this needs a street
"Where we're going, we don't need roads."
Plot twist.
Disabled people such as myself are broke.
6:09 The moment he realizes Jay isnt a spring chicken anymore lol
The Hov-A-Round people say their chair will get you anywhere; even the Grand Canyon. This one not only gets you to the Grand Canyon, it takes you to the bottom and back.
Any chair can get you to the bottom of the Grand Canyon...
@@wickedmuffin76 - I said "...and back." Two works that make a big difference!
@@scootergeorge9576 I know, was trying to make a joke.
@@wickedmuffin76 : D
Wow now that looks really fun ! 👍 👍
Drive by this building many times. It’s on the border with NH.
I need one of these!!
The IUD was a great invention 😁

Interesting.
Perfect for L.A. highways.Traffic,what traffic?...
Ripsaw? That thing is a beast, surely that's the way the suspension its suppose to work to bad I dont have the amount of money to buy one of those, nice video btw!
$400,000 State of the Art Hot Rod Tank...with NRG seats...
Lol
Any gearhead grownup would love to have one of those ripsaws. Just not to sure how the lawn would hold up.
Tbh it doesn't seem not impressive as a fun offroad vehicle a rock bouncer, ultra4, or a trophy truck seems way more fun fast and capable
I drive by their shop on my way to my camp in Maine.
But how do you adjust the track tension?
Yes indeed Jay you need to get you one of those
I've always wanted one of these chairs Wish I could afford one
Those are sick!!!
Price tag? I'm glad that the military is interested, esp. for the IED issue.
How do you load a deer or antilop on one of these things if you have no legs???
You just ask the antelope to nicely hop in before shooting it, duh.
You would think it is waterproof for as much as it costs 🤔 .
At least try to protect the interior from the rain .
I think Jay changed his mind about getting one after he got wet
I would love for a ripchair to be my new BFF :o)
Oh, the fun we'd have together!
Be real cool if Jay would do a show on Honda atc's
I'd like to see how this handles in the snow and on ice.
This is so awesome!!
Now just to win the lottery...I wanna tank!
_Jay's starting to look like "Mac Tonight". ; )_
I thought Jay was Mac Tonight. Looked like him playing piano in those old commercials.
5:10 need to get the Hamster to try it out and see if Jay is correct here

Miss that show.
This thing is awesome, but sadly it quite sucks to buy it in Germany, because of taxation and other obstacles 😐
If Steven Hawkins would have had that, he would have taken over the world, world, world, world!🙂
I see what you did there, there, there! Lmao
That looked like fun!
They keep slamming the front end into the dirt. You would think by now they would have redesigned the thing to keep everything behind the front track wheel.
That super sport tank have maybe a LSX gas engine?
Looks like Jay might’ve had a little bit of motion sickness there 😂👌
I wonder how much they cost
That thing is awesome
That bigger tank is cool
Jay looking more and more like Thanos every day.
RIPSAW EV2 for $400 000 and not even seats with suspension and without door seals...WTF??????
Roads? We don't need any roads where we're goin 😆
We don't need any roads *with what we're drivin*
I thought it would be waterproof 😉👍👍
whats top end,,mpgal,,and how much?
wow, i sure could use that!
"Stay safe, stay home, and stay sure." Bite me.
Make the Cobra Hiss Tank.
The howe brothers had a TV show once
Ha ha ha, that's not a chair
It's just a BOBCAT without the bucket!!!
if Dr. Evil's chair had tank tracks.
Quite the commercial for Ripsaw.
The evil Blofeld called in an order for one just today!!
Only $30,000 damage..... brilliant!!
did Jay one for his collection?
I bet Jay ordered one
So Jay , how many did you order ? Looks like a family type trail ride . "Deeds not words"
wow ! great for back woods and barbecue !
I would say that antelope is just delighted you got your mobility back mate... 🙄
Pretty Cool Guys.
I think Jay might be a inch or two shorter from his spine being compressed :)
It's a lot of fun...tell that to your face Jay
The picture on this TH-cam clip made Jay look like a person of Walmart
