"Overcast" | Digitakt 2, Perfourmer, Empress Reverb | 29 Kits

Ahh chill vibes time! Off the heels of the last jam with the split 2 voice bass and lead from the Vermona with a slower pace I did this one similarly which is a more cheerful peaceful little jam.
Track 1 on this kit I noticed was a kick from a longer drum loop, so I took some slices from that and made a choppy fun little rhythm. Then some light hihat-adjacent elements on tracks 4-7, and then a chip-tune sounding copycat melody which copies most of the lead melody from the vermona, delayed by 4 steps by shifting it over in the sequencer.
Again it seemed appropriate to go heavy with the Reverb pedal and I really love the atmosphere it made here, with one of the modulation reverb settings adding some wavering and airiness.
Kept the bass on the Perfourmer subtle with one set to sine and one set to triangle which are both quite soft in the lower registers and I feel like make a very nice bed for chill tracks like this.
I had to record this three times! Last night I recorded once and then looked and there was no audio at all, great. After I went through the audio settings again which sometimes is what it needs to fix bugs like that, and then verified I was seeing waveforms in the recording and did try two, which was even better! Of course then when I listened back, it was completely distorted and crackly because the Digitakt decided it had a random USB bug and needed to be restarted... So this morning I did take 3, which is probably not the best one and doesn't have the nice dark lighting from the first takes, but it does the job!
