Is there a beginner guide? I tried to get into it. I did. For 10 hours or so. But I only got a lil' bit into the career. It just doesn't click. The strafing and pitch don't help. The inability to change or invert the controls doesn't help either. Eh. I like what I see but when I play I'm not feeling it. Also, is it worth getting RE2 if even this is hard and uncomfortable? I love F-Zero GX and other arcade racers but this is more like a sim. I just can't. :/
Hello, thanks for watching the video anyway! You may have missed it but there is an option in the controls menu to change the inputs to something more resembling F-Zero GX called the “classic” control scheme. For tutorials, our community friend Majora created a great beginner tutorial some years ago that goes over the very basics of the game: th-cam.com/video/5Al9G6OOnbU/w-d-xo.html In addition, if you go to Episode 12 from my Redout Advanced Strategy Guide playlist, you’ll see my version of the “beginner” tutorial that focuses on common steering and boosting mistakes I made when starting out and how to correct them. The game took a while to click with me but once it did, it became my favorite racer ever. It is very sim-like as you mentioned however. Redout 2 feels entirely different- the ships turn much more sharply and the game has much more of an “arcade” feel. If you keep trying Redout 1 and just can’t get into it, I’d recommend at least trying 2- the refund option is always available if you don’t like it. Also, come check out the game’s Discord server if you’d like more advice from other players: discord.gg/redout
Sense of speed is awesome. Looks like the ship itself will just disintegrate!
Thanks! Redout’s sense of speed is top-tier, especially in a few of the later tracks with long boost straightaways.
