Hahah, oh man I totally meant to mention your comment on the survey announcement video. Not trying to stir anything up, that comment (hopefully) lead to a helpful video.
@@makeorbreakshop Just as an FYI, I thought you were one of the best laser channels even before you replied to my comment or made these videos. It's just nice to see someone making content FOR their audience and not just sponsored videos to profit FROM their audience.

Etsy has many laser patterns. As a full time pattern designer I need to say that many pattern sellers are selling copyrighted patterns. Many of my designs are being sold without my permission. Etsy will not help with this and all of the sellers of my patterns are overseas so I am not able to do much.
The design ecosystem especially on the paid side seems pretty crazy, especially with copycats.
Is there a good way to verify if a design is original?
@@tatordad It is extremely difficult because there are so many designs and designers. All I can say is that if someone is selling a set of patterns in the hundreds and the patterns have multiple styles then there is a good chance they are not made by that seller. I don't even fight it anymore because 99% of the time it is fruitless.

Nice job on the video! I would get a Thunder Bolt in a heartbeat if it did better at cutting material that is around 1/4”(6mm). At that thickness, I swear a 30W+ diode would cut faster. And the next stronger Bolt is ridiculously expensive. Bummer! I’ll wait for the Roly MK3 40W extra wide model that is coming towards the end of the year.

I just got mine. LOVE it so far.
I have owned several lasers over time. From my first Laser Master 2, to the Xtool S1 and P2. I wish I had known about the survey, I would have contributed. I actually sold my P2 because it was just way too cumbersome. The Xtool machines are a good bang for your buck, but there are two things I absolutely HATE about them. 1st, the hose size for the exhaust tubing is 3 inch. This means it won't fit most standard duct tubing which is 4 inches or more. I had to print adapters for the S1 and P2. There is no good reason for them not to use the most common size. Though I guess this could be some attempt at proprietary BS so that you have to buy tubing and exhaust accessories from them. 2nd, the implementation of lightburn compatibility is terrible. It's janky as all hell and badly thought out. Plus the camera functions of the P2 never worked in lightburn for me. If I could do it again, I would go with a company like Thunder Laser. They are also Chinese, but they have USA based support and sales people. So my issues are never brushed aside and the BS claims are less.
what do you think about the Neje Max 4 E80. It looks like a very interesting machine with the motorized z axis. A review would be cool ^^. Thank you !
The thing i notice is that you do not make a difference yet between the kind of laser
glowforge for example is a CO2 laser , Creality is a Diode Laser , Xtools got Diode and Co2 depending on what one you choose
i can not say if it would make any big difference, but i can imaging that some people are less happy with a 5K printer that get outperformed by a sub 500 printer because of diode vs co2
so if enough data is present, can we get a quick breakdown of the co2 / fiber / diode classes so they stay equal to a certain point ?
also i love the video, it is well done and it was interesting, i expected way more of sculptfun but seems people thinks otherwise
this also makes me wonder, atomstack for example (if i am not mistaken ) is just a offbrand ( or premium brand ) of a other laser company, so maybe those can be split up to ?
Yeh totally get that, at first I wanted to break it down by brand but didn’t have enough responses so had to do it by machine. xTool was the only one that had enough individual responses for the machine though, so I could do that in the future.
I’d like to know why so many don’t like Ortur. I’ve had great luck with mine. Such a simple machine. Got my feet wet with CNCing with them.
It might be one of those loud vocal minority type of things.
Results for Glowforge (12:30) are hardly surprising. Why anyone would accept this workflow is beyond me (same goes for the Cricut devices btw). For my own shop, I went with Roly's LaserMatic 2 (30W version). I have a CNC background and proper linear rails and absolute coordinates make this machine a winner.

My full spectrum laser fell apart and rusted. The support was awful, they lied to me at purchase about upgrades and then went on a twitter tirade that I was an unreasonable customer. Absolutely would never recommend full spectrum to anyone!

Full spectrum customer support is terrible. Had a problem with my laser not cutting and they asked me to send my power supply to them for testing. When I was finally able to get them to return my power supply it was not even the one, I sent them. Then they said I was wrong and would not give my original back. Ended up finding a used one just like mine and got replacement parts. it lasted another year and a half. Purchased a Rabbit 80 watt after that and am happy with it.
Odd about the ortur. I have 3 and they are great!

I’ve had a glowforge since day 1. I give the machine a 2 and the company a 0.
The company deserves a -100. Such scamy behavior.
I just dropped $18k on the Redline order so we shall see if that comment at the beginning of the video holds up lol 😅

Holy crap, what a joke. Xtool is the perfect example of people flocking to the thing most advertised despite how stupid ridiculous the price is. Charging what xtool does for a fricken diode laser is insane and people don't have the common sense to know any better.
To small a sample size to make the info useful.
There is no free lunch with lasers. If it is underpowered it will cut in a more shallow way and it will require lower speeds for engraving deeper.
For laser work, remember the price, quality, and speed triangle:
Fast!
Cheap!
Good!
Now pick two options but only two options.
Remember this triangle because it rules your world. You might want to reach an economy of scale, but for that you need a lot of capital.

Well said. I got an xTool M1 as I have a background in vinyl cutting and liked that it was enclosed and not a gantry. It's fine for that but the 10w laser is painful to use. I made a nine-layered 3D mandala out of 3mm basswood. Roughly 5 inches square so I could do four squares of each layer on a 12 x 12" sheet. I believe the overall cutting time was north of 3 hours total for all layers. Pack a lunch. Some layers of mandalas in cardstock can take upward of 20 min/sheet, and that's just a single layer/12 x 12" sheet. Lighter colors take longer to cut, with white being the worst; I suspect more reflection than absorption of the beam. I resorted to covering the white with a black sheet of construction paper to speed up the cut time. I need, as Tim Allen would say, "MORE POWER". 🤣
