My grandfather, his parents, and his 7 siblings emigrated to Canada way back in the 1920's. They were from Stonehouse. And while I have never been to Scotland, I have always felt that Stonehouse is the town of my heritage. I was nice to see a little bit of it on film. I wish my grandfather was still alive to show it to him. He used to talk about Scotland, and his accent would come back as he remembered it through tears. I hope to visit one day.
That was really interesting, I thoroughly enjoyed, I was born in Swinhill, but we used to go and paddle in Cander water, we called it The Conner, Thankyou Hugh Burns, . 👏👏👏👏👏
Can someone answer a question please. When my father was cremated (1998) my elder brother took his ashes to the old part of the graveyard in Stonehouse, I recall he had problems finding the "old part" but someone helped him find it. I no longer have contact with my elder brother and I'm wanting to visit the part where my late fathers ashes are. I haven't seen scotland since our family left in the 1940s and wanting to know the location, address etc. I intend to travel from west yorks in the near future and would be grateful for any help, thank you.
