Really annoying -- they should say up front that this is just tiny EXCERPTS from a video you'd have to buy in order to understand the process. Talk about bait and switch. Although the techniques are useful, it doesn't nearly show the entire process.
watercolornyc Here I thought I was loosing my mind!! I'll read down with hope that it is explained. Add gel medium to Claybord? No add gel medium? Is the surface scraped away already pre-applied by Ampersand and we're to scrape it away now? A lot (a major lot) is left out. I haven't run across this kind of marketing play before. But admittedly, I'm just now having the time for TH-cam.
This is indeed a short preview of the full-length video on ArtistsNetwork.tv where Birgit shows 3 ways to frame without glass, demoing each from start to finish.
She has a very soothing voice ! Very pleasant to listen to her...I agree, something is missing.... what is she taking off and why? and What does she use to attach the watercolour to the clay board? Can we use a board that does not have clay on it? maybe one used for encaustics?
for a COMPLETE, more artist friendly demonstration on this process, that doesn't assume you have paintings to "experiment with" and throw away if you ruin them..go to Dragonfly Spririt Studio's channel.
Why even post this and similar videos when you skip everything and only give bits and pieces? I understand you have a "payperview" channel, but this is ridiculous.
It's not showing he complete process. They want you to go to the website and BUY the video for 20.00, There was enough information to tease my curiosity.
I do not understand what to destroy a clayboard for if an artist can directly paint watercolors on a clayboard! Clayboards are expensive and I could not watch when she just started to destroy it.
Argh. Just read the last line of the above explanation. It does not pay to be a skimmer - and neither will I. Very unimpressed with marketing technique, Artists Network.
What the???? That video made no sense at all. It was like a teaser with all the actual information cut out. All it did was make me want to not come to this channel.

So how did you attach the water color to the board??? That part is skipped

great idea. Word a encaustic coating work?
Why is there gel medium on the clayboard? Is it normal or is it a result of a previous piece of work?
does the clay board come with the gel medium on it? I've never used it, just wondered.
thanks
no you have to add it.
Why would you bother with the clayboad and removing the gesso when you can just get a cradled birch board?
you are not removing the gesso.
