This video looks how did the combat on the Eastern Front of the First World War interact with the Western Front and why did the war result in the dissolution of Austria-Hungary and the Russian empire.

I don't care how much spam NordVPN tries to shove down my throat or if they sponsor every single video in every single channel of TH-cam; for this reason alone, I'm NEVER playing their stupid fucking VPN for that reason alone.
Besides, Shadow's Law states that any app that spends as much money as Raid: Shadow's Legend does in marketing is filled with predatory microtransactions, is utter garbage or both.
Why is your quality lover than in previous videos?

I think the defeat of the Ottoman Empire is worth mentioning here.
Watch out for storm of pissed off turkish ultranationalist trying to convince you they didn't lose the war (although they did) because of Ataturk xD
@@abbfilmann3735 Australians have great respect for Ataturk, why would you blame him for the Ottoman collapse?
The point I was trying to make was that the Ottomans gave the Central Powers access to vital materials and secured their South Eastern flank by controlling the Black Sea.
@@abbfilmann3735 The Young Turks & Pashas are more to blame for the destruction of the Ottoman empire by bringing them to the war rather than ataturk, even if he offically ended turkey being "The caliphate". The treaty Entente ended up giving to the ottomans would've killed the future of turkey for good had ataturk not intervined.
So in short they did lose the great war, but they also rejected the original peace treaty and fought for a better outcome which they won.
That’s not part of the eastern Europe front.
@@19MAD95 Obviously, but the Ottomans fought the Russians until 3 March 1918, ultimately diverting around 1 million Russian soldiers from the Eastern front.
Your new editing really improved the already exciting experience it has been before. Thanks and don't stop 🥇

I hate to imply anything you do isn't perfect but a video like this really needs a date ticker. Your narrative is great, it's very concise and a litany of dates would be detrimental. But it would be nice if the month and year is always visible somewhere in the corner of the map. That also helps when you need to switch fronts/theaters as things can happen at the same time.
Absolutely love your work. The moving maps are such a great aid in understanding the operational level of the wars, and something we never had before you guys started doing them. ❤
That is great advice and if I was eastory I would heart this comment but he only hearts donations but I hope he uses this
My great grandfather was a draftee from South Alabama in the 81st "Wildcat" Division and participated in the Meuse-Argonne offensive. He spent the last night of the war in a shell crater in no-man's land. In letters he wrote home, he said that he and a couple of his buddies were there together and too scared to sleep because they were close ebough to hear the Germans talking. We have an antique, WWI soldeir's trunk at my Grandmother's house that holds a collection of his things. These include letters, pictures, souvenirs in the form of bullets and buttons, and a "naughty" finger ring wuth a peek hole in the side. If you look into it, there's an image of a naked girl.
Woah
Loved the ad routine. Great maps as always

Great Video! Will you make a video about wars in europe after ww1(1918- 1923)?
I dont know of a more charismatic you tuber. My guy, you are so charismatic, even when u plug ur ads i still watch :D
i dont do that on any other channel i watch. Hope you all the success and prosperity in the world
Im ok with this new style of mapping but I think the old style like that of the 1941-1945 eastern front series style was better than the current one. Still tho, cool vid and cool mapping, just hoping that one day u would return back to ur old style of mapping.
There is no much mapping the fronts barely moved or moved super fast with almost no battles.
This video is a summary of the video serie Eastory did and completed.
I liked the old Eastory where it had like every single division fighting the take cities
This exact time period already has a complete 3 video series in that style - this one looks like more of a overview that gives a quicker run down and more context about what's happening on the western front and how that plays back into the eastern front. So this one is a little more macro, while the previous three are more mirco. Would be nice if the title or description was a little more obvious about it, though.
@@NLuck-eh5cd I can agree with that
Now the title is a little more obvious :)
The title literally says it’s an overview of 3 other videos about the ww1 eastern front
That mapping was at the corps level I believe. At least it was for Eastern Front. Corps -- not divisions, which I would've preferred, but settled for Corps, as it was well ahead of anything else at the time/
Hey eastory, i've been a patron for a few years now. Just a few things I wanted to comment about the videos.
While the content is great as always, I really prefered the old art style, the music, design of the map of the WW2 eastern front videos. I think a lot of others did too with the extremely high views they received. They were just a bit simpler and flowed really nicely.
But yeah, the units, design, commentary, everything about those videos were just perfect. While these videos are good they just can be a little too much into the detail, quality not quantity.
Either way keep it up! Will continue to support you.
It must have been terrifying for soldiers in eastern front to be encircled in fort, then get saved by friendly forces but soon they fall back but you are ordered to stay there and get trapped again
You already made high quality videos, but I think this was even a step up!
As soon as he said "Encryption", I knew the ad was coming..!
I love the ad with the German spy
Wonderful video! Thank you for putting the work into it. Just one request: could you please put a timeline on it next time? Just a ticking clock/calendar to know when these movements on the frontline happened. Thank you!
Cool mappings and visualizations. Keep it up the good work bro! Greetings from Brazil!
My great great grandfather fought on Italian front. Can't tell which side, it was complicated with Czechoslovakian troops switching sides :)
Dr Eastory, can u please make an animated video about The Korean War.
Quality of the video is amazing.
The increase in quality in this video and the exploration of new ideas is amazing.
This and Vultures 2 dropping within 24 hrs of each other is a miracle
Germany and I have key things in common. We could and probably should be the winners but we picked poor friends. That's the difference between winning and losing in life. The people around you.
Your content could be even greater if you mentionned the actions of the Allied Armies of Orient in the Balkans, because it was a very big pressure and threat against Austro-Hungarians and prevented them to allocate all their troops to the eastern front. And also it prevented Turcs to support the other central powers. Also, US Expeditionnary Corps joined too late on the western front to have a real impact on the combats, but it was a great signal for central powers that they would lose finally.
Incredible as always, thank you!
This channel is the reason why I got addicted to strategy wargames, btw W vid 📷
Wait, isn't this just a condensed version of your previous three videos? Thought we'd get a video on the russian civil war.
Have patience my guy
Perfect balance of big picture and small picture to really explain the war and its outcome!
Love your videos mate!
the best channels for showing WW2 frontlines
When the world needed him most he reappeared!
Also, im now upset that I've seen Eastory's face!!
Well done!
I think this new style of video is quite nice, but keep making the old ones. Maybe make an overview video for every series? (like you did with this one, with some videos about the battlefield and one looking at the whole strategic picture)
My great great grandpa died in trenches in ww1 on austro hungarian side.
Best mapper just dropped a new art
Imagine if Soviet Union was replaced of Russian Empire and then Monarchist Revolution happens...
Amazing video, thank you. In near future to be also western or italian fronts?
It will be the Civil War in Russia
You forgot the Vittorio Veneto battle that led to collapse of Austria and prompted the armistice request by Germany, who felt menaced from South.
"Eastern front WWI animated"
Ah Austria, a genuine handicap for most of the war incapable of holding it's own against even just Serbia. Alongside starting the war...
@@commisaryarreck3974 When Austria collapsed she lost the only quality she had: being a kind of cork against the formation of a southern front for Germany. Ludendorff clearly stated that Vittorio Veneto was the final nail on the coffin of any resistance strategy for the Reich.
Great video, as always
Love it when a new video of yours comes online
very good explanation of everything. Please start making your videos as this, and please make WW2 video on the same scheme. It's a lot more easy to understand everything and a lot more simple.
This shorter format was incredible!!!! When you can, make more videos like this ;)
Can you do a same video on WW2
Love your videos so much
This is the best explanation of the eastern front I've ever scene, and that Tannenberg-to-NordVPN segue would have gotten a chef's kiss from Ludendorff himself. 😚👌
Despite being a minor historical enthusiast I didn't know a few of these things. A very well-made and entertaining video this is

The other video are really great, but this video is good to Present it in classroom (without bore too much my classmates not interested in history)
I wish all sponsor ads were done like this.
Thank you for the film, in the future will you also make a film about the First World War outside of Europe?
Nice video!!! If the numbers mean the 1st, 2nd, 3rd Army... What does it mind the letters like D from Romania, the letters S, G, B and W from German Empire or the 1G from the Russian Empire?
Finally. Always wanted a video like this ❤
Please keep up your amazing work. Great video ❤👍
09:39 i like the little music clip when that front opened
Excellent video, graphics, and information!
Can you do Battle of Odžak
Love how close the Germans were to victory in WW1 altogether
They were never close
Why u think they surrendered before allies even entered German territory
@@jamessickerBro they were close, look at their offensive into France before trench warfare took hold.
@@jamessicker Once defeating the Russians they can use their manpower on the western front and don't send the Zimmerman telegram and do things in the Pacific that would annoy America because they did do a lot in the final months and defeat France and Britain
They would have been close if the US didnt join the war
hey man great video! I know you probably won't reply but I know you make your maps in blender, could you explain to me how you rig the moving borders (if that makes sense)

Fantastic video.
Not to nitpick, but Ukraine was separated into two states, the one in the west called Western Ukraine. Also, there were two Lemko-Rusyn states (initially three) in southern Poland.
Would you ever do a video on the US Japanese pacific islands campaign to go with your Sino Japanese war series?
It is a good idea
Eastory how do you make this kind of videos? it's very good.
Eastory is back!
15:01 what is this sheat? No such a map and border existed in november 1918. Belarus didn’t proclaim its independence in 1918. Ukraine didn’t have these borders. Actually there were two ukrainians states (west and east). Its just some imagination.

Hi my fellow estonian
Tiny Estonia is lucky to host such a youtube channel
What a great visualization
Hey Eastory, or the editor, I have some suggestions to do with this specific video. It seems you or someone on your team has altered the standard a bit.
- Sound effects should be reduced or removed, they are repetitive, unnecessary and the audio mixing is jarring.
- Simplifying the positions of army groups/subgroups (as compared to earlier videos) doesn't hurt the product in my opinion due to the broad coverage of the entire war this video is attempting.
- As another commenter has said, adding dates in the corner like had been done in earlier videos would be nice.
- My main issue is that the writing is slow and of noticeably less quality than previous videos... it should list city names, territories or other important objectives rather than listing "another advance, more captured..." and instead of saying "other entente nations launched their own attacks... one being russia (segue)" (9:55) you could've simply stated "Italy and Russia launched their own offensives... the russians had... (segue)" because your infographic already shows who is attacking. This mistake is repeated again around 11:32 with "the war exhaustion". The writing and visuals convey the same thing like it's trying to be a youtube short. It feels like a 15 minute 10 minute video due to the breaks in dialogue not being cut. The video isn't centered on the eastern front like the title would suggest, so a better title (in the future) would simply be "World War I - military strategy animated" or something such.
Otherwise, the animation quality has improved and your videos convey military information much better than history textbooks. Your previous videos were of very high quality and informational value so I don't know what happened here. I hope you are having a good day nonetheless
Insanely well made video
I want to make a video request, if you are open for that.
I know it is hard to find good information about this, but I would love to see an in depth video on the russian civil war in ukraine and how the factions developed, with the red army, the soviets of Ukraine who were not under control of Lenin and Trotzki, the German and Austrian troops with Skoropadskyj, the republic under Petljura and the green armies as well as the black army.

Good stuff, although I would have preferred a timeline.
I find it interesting how long Lithuania was to become.
I now have an urge to play bloody Europe 2
Eastory >>>>>>>>>>>> Your an og man
Damn, it's always little details in history which had huge impact.
For example Russia not surrender but to stall.
Or Italy not joining as part of the CP
They omitted most of the conflict by being hand-wavy about the eastern front in Australian high school of the 90s
WW1 is so tragic
Wilhelm ii & Nicolas ii were friends but that didn't stop them from going to war with each other , the monarchist empires destroyed each other in a terrible bloody war , WW1 was a lot more then muddy trenches in France
The biggest mistake of the Entente in preventing another great war was not breaking Germany up into smaller states like it used to be pre-1870.
They could have used whatever precedent really. Napoleonic Confederation of the Rhine, splitting Germany along religious lines ie. Catholic Bavaria and Protestant Prussia.
They could have prevented the reunification movement, at least for a few decades, by placing most of the war reparations on militarist Prussia, while being lenient on other breakaway German states.
you are handsome
