- On today's episode of Homeworthy we're going to Dallas, Texas to take you on a tour of interior designer Javier Burkle's eclectic and cozy bungalow. He renovated the home in 2015 and restored all of the rooms to their original glory---the home is beautifully layered with textiles, patterns and color and is filled with treasures from trips abroad. Fantastic home! He should get special recognition for proving you don’t have to tear down a bungalow and rebuild a house three times the square feet of the original structure, which is very common in Dallas. Here’s another lovely option. Thanks for showing us this tour!

This home is beautiful. It's nice to see a home with personality and not a big gray boring box with no art or collectibles. He's lucky to have family pieces and it's obvious that he treasures them. I could live in this house!

This home is a maximalists dream. As someone stated it's so refreshing to see a home rich with layers,pattern,texture and most importantly color. I can't tell you how many magazine subscriptions I have canceled because of the all white and gray trends of recent years. So happy to see collections proudly and artfully displayed. This is one of my favorite homeworthy tours.

My most favorite Homeworthy house ever! Love how he embraces his love of collections, sentimental family pieces and art. The gallery walls are amazing and the decision to go bold with color creates a wonderful backdrop. I’m sure I will revisit this one over and over.

@@rosemarynewman1876 Watched it AGAIN this morning. Seriously can.NOT. get enough. There are so many lessons on layering, cohesion and color on display here. The gold curtains in the den perfectly match the dining room chandelier. And it's all in the same line of sight. He uses black to tie everything together both inside and out. And never have I ever been more inspired to "collect"! Whew! This was a treat!

When I saw “Ralph Lauren inspired,” I had to watch because I love his style. This place is stunning. I love the owner’s designs, selections, and placements. The dark and moody paint colors look amazing. And tequila and Topo Chico is my favorite. Casa Noble, please. Gorgeous home.

@@gambrydew2059 Good question. I was thinking about that too. Maybe they keep it tidy and have a cleaning service. Its a problem that can be solved with effort or simply money, kind of like the prep but never cook lifestyle he touched upon in the kitchen.

It's a sophisticated, cosmopolitan timeless room. I'd expect a well-traveled person to live there, worldly, refined and yet casual and comfortable. I'd love to see his table-scapes. Sounds like they're entertaining and unique. They will soon need a larger home or a storage place for books and plates for the growing collections.
This has to be one of my top five homes on your channel. Filled with family treasures and the designated hangout for supper club-loving friends. The best example and true meaning of home.
I love Javier’s use of pattern on some of the walls and ceilings. I’m an artist, and never imagined drawing with pencils on a ceiling. His home is very inviting, and gives off a vibe of being everybody’s favorite hang out place. His grandparents’ artwork is amazing, and it’s no wonder he inherited the artistic gene as well. Considering black is the dominant color in each room, all I feel is the presence of light. What a great home!

As a Dallas native with roots in Monterrey, Mexico.. And being a vintage, eclectic, art lover… this house is everything to me. Javier, if I ever happen to win the lotto, I’m buying a 1920s - 1940’s house around the M Streets, Lower Greenville, Lakewood or White Rock area and I’m hiring you!!

This is my absolute most favorite home and design. This is EVERYTHING EXACTLY I am trying to do to my home. I love fun /funny things but also very traditional and vintage and I have never been able to describe it but this is it. Being very southern and have deep history and love of past and grew up in old southern grand home and now own a property since 2015 in GA I have been renovating and had even once brought a well known designer who had show in but couldn't get across my vision and articulate this look . I have very large walls that are stucco and have terracotta tiles on top and iron gates and walled garden and long brick drive and the house is so different in design and trying to change completely as roof is French pitch and odd 70s shape and boring and pool area and trying to make cohesive and think next month going to paint it black but want the pool and garden and area around to look like his exterior. Watching this got me so excited and will probably watch 100x to get inspiration to use. As I love ceilings like his and have loved and so much Ralph L and always done my 4 sons rooms in that and very preppy and posh. I have wood library and several rooms to do left. I am fortunate this home has 4 fireplaces all different and it's definitely smallest sqft home I have lived in but perfect as kids going off to university for us and to entertain but has lots of land. I've had the vision since I bought it and did major reno and got screwed and could have built new with what just did half of interior and having to go back and fix few things. I wish I had brought in this designer or one like him from get go and saved myself lot of heart ache. I'm retired military at 32 now 40 and just want place to love with my newly remarried husband. Sorry so long just excited to find this!

'Cottage' in the US is nothing like a 'cottage' anywhere else, especially not in the UK. A 'cottage' is two rooms downstairs and two attic rooms up.
This home is everything! That backyard is amazing and I MUST recreate it. The comment on the latex glove being the regular kitchen one and not the special one gave me a giggle. Just spectacular home and I am not a maximalist but I could convert for this!

I love the gorgeous mural in the bathroom and the unique top hat ceiling lights in the dressing room! I also love the vintage “tortoise shell” rattan furniture. I love this! I love the high/low decorating and items. The house is beautiful and well done without being stuffy. I also love that they serve Cain’s chicken fingers and Cain’s sauce at their Christmas party. No need to knock yourself out when hosting parties.
