Thanks Aaron and Tactical Hyve, great video. Sling knowledge/use is something I think most CIVs (me) don't learn and practice enough. I took a rifle class years ago at the SIG academy and it was immediately apparent who in the class had/had not used and trained with a sling. The same can be said for the occasional 3-gun competition that requires sling use. Now I need to try moving the front connection point back and get some reps in! Looking forward to your/Aaron's next video, very well done.

Thanks Aaron, I definitely needed this video, bc I have slings, but never really thought about training with them. They always just kinda hung there. I like the idea of swapping my firearm to my back the way you showed, I tried it out while larping half way into this video, & it's a good skill to practice!

Very good demo. Agree with it all one hundred, brother. One thing I do differently (personal preference) I attach the rear side of the sling to the other side of the stock. Seems to get caught up less on things. I've tried both for years and I keep going back my firing side on the rear sling mount

The outdoor range I belong to is very strict on muzzle down, civilization has moved in and no muzzles over the berms! Otherwise I'm happy that the training classes I have attended have taught me the same methods you illustrate. Now I just need to practice more!

Good short and sweet video, I have an identical 2-point setup, and learned from other videos how to do the "front admin" and the "rear admin" swimming through the sling, but never considered just letting it hang around my neck in front in cases where I might need to get into firing position quickly. I'm a cake eating civilian now, former military, but USAF, qualified on the M-16 in the 80s but the only weapon I was ever actually issued was a .38 Special revolver for aircrew, so I need all the info I can get. I also appreciate the nod to variations in personal preference, but everything you said makes sense. Things that make you go hmmm.... 😀😀

Man, excellent instruction. I run my rifle sling, when we are training medical scenarios, muzzle down, and on my back. I am not a fan of having my rifle on my back with muzzle up... however, I do understand that it has its applications. When? if we are working MSO on a boat. This will probably be the only time when I want to have the muzzle up. But again, it depends on the application. Great job on the video.

  • @DrewD748
    @DrewD748 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

Swinging or sliding the rifle around may cause it to get caught on gear more than going muzzle down. Also it normally sits tighter muzzle down especially if the sling is attached to the butt stock.

I see the point about flagging everyone but you're also doing it (putting it on your back, muzzle up) the hard way. You could just grab the stock with your support hand and rotate it around your body while keeping the muzzle pointed down and to the rear until it's on your back. Return it to your ready hang position by again grabbing the stock with your support hand and pulling it around your body.
It doesn't negate flagging people if you lean over or crouch though.

Obviously sling manipulation and this video works for everyone. But for other things, I wish we could get some Law Enforcement guys on this channel to give us pointers and tips. I'm not in Iraq and don't have military support/equipment as a civilian. Police in the United States (especially small town cops and, not big city cops) would have the type of training and tips that bleed over into what every day Joe might run into more than Special Forces experience operating in a Military capacity. And I don't mean big city SWAT guys either.

Just another data point that supports the argument you should configure your sling in the way that best works for you. I prefer a single point with my left arm inside the sling, but I also like unanticipated groin shots so it is only for masochist. Which now that I think about is probably why so many SEALS like them... Given there sadomasochistic tendencies.

I hoped I would get some deeper universal knowledge about sling manipulation from this video, sadly thats not the case.
Herre are some points i criticise about this video:
    1. "barrel down on back = not flagging anybody while bent forwadrs to pick something up. ?! yeah, you don´t flag whats in front of you, but you still flag whats behind you (watch 7:10), because your barrel still tilts from the ground: It´s not avoidable unless you keep the gun pointed straigt down with your hands!
    2. If you have to use a 16" or 20" military rifle, and not a SBR, and may be a little shorter too, you´ll muzzlestrike the dirt everytime you kneel down to pick something up.
In the military we have a saying rughly translated to "It dosen´t rain into the muzzle!" - means: If you carry the rifle on your back with the muzzle up, you´ll be fine!
Anyway good content, but sadly not much "universal usable knowledge"

Why do guys come on here and hate on people. This guy has probably seen more real life action than the rest of us could fantasize about. Anytime I hear a seal or any other special forces guy giving out tips, I’m all ears! Everyone has a different style so each one will have a slightly different take and that’s ok.

A Police officer and a soldier is also a CITIZEN, but not a civilian. His distinction makes sense.
