Historic audio.ithe fact that television was not available until 1979 had an idelible impact on how people understood the world during the apartheid era
South Africa began broadcasting television in January 1976, despite being Africa's most economically advanced country at the time. The government had previously banned television for many years, deeming it morally corrupting, but eventually gave in to public pressure and began planning a TV system in 1975. In May of that year, about 80,000 people, including some who stood outside stores, watched the first test transmissions.
Interesting Information. Australia started in 1956 ready fo the Melbourne olympics. Fast forward to 2024 and all we get is reality shows that are not worth watching. Thank goodness for old radio shows.😇
My youth.... Friday nights were never missed to listen to 'Squaddies'.....
Thank you for the upload. Brings back alot of memories. Born in 1968, I loved my radio stories. ❤ Les from South Africa 🇿🇦

There were 700+ episodes. Anyone have any episodes that are not covered here? Has the SABC archives released any more episodes?
I saw an archive with 1000+ episodes somewhere on the web some time ago...maybe do a search to see if it still exists.
