30 years old and I just made my first bird house because of you. Took me 5 hours. I kept on having to go back to your video and I couldn’t find my tools. I’m new to learning how to use a measuring tape and I think some how my 45 degree angles didn’t match. It was a mess. But it’s built. Thank you.

Nice house. 2 points of attention: 1: large hole, you have a specific bird in mind? Dodo? :-) 2: how you're gonna clean it in winter? You nailed it all, no way to open it.
Thanks for posting this I know you didn't have to show every cut but I think it was very helpful that you did because many of us beginners needed to see all the steps. It was important to show the adjustments you made both to the speed square alignment and to the roof pieces. Very well done video. Thanks again.
@@AlesEveryday The way you used your square as a guide for your saw is genius. I will definitely incorporate that into my routine. Takes all the guesswork out of it. My eyes aren't as good a they used to be, so this will really help.

Good video but dont use pressure treated lumber for bird houses. The chemicals will harm the birds. Best to use 1*5 common boards, either pine or oak. You can clear coat the outside of the birdhouse to help weatherize it, just dont coat the part of wood that will be the inside of the bird house.
As long as you treat the lumber with linseed oil it should be ok. I have a yard full of babies and most came from pine fence board with linseed. But I learn more everyday.
Nice project for your kids and someone getting into woodworking, But to build a birdhouse for outside to use in the wild you need to change your plans a little. Don't put a perch are a porch two stand on because predators can also stand on it and get the babies, also make the front so you can open it and clean it once a year. and cut the corners of the bottom to let any rain drain..and drill some vent holes on either side to let air in at least 3 to aside.
This needs Vent holes, Drainage holes, a way to open it for a yearly cleaning and possible resizing so predators can't get to the chicks in side. Also a Predator Guard should be used at the hole. There is a science to building a Bird House regarding floor area, size of hole for specific birds, height of hole from floor, mounting height from ground to list a few.
Thanks always looking for options! I have about 50 or so love Birds 🦅 . I took this book shelf , and made boxes , with little ledges like you did so I could check for babies and clean um out . It looks like a hotel , came out pretty cool 😎
Love this, best one yet I have some pallet this may work with if not I have a wooden fence section a storm laid down that I had to replaced this I know will work .
Ive gotten so many mixed comments and found so much mixed information on this topic of adding a dowel so the bird can stand, that I decided not to include it. Some say it helps intruders or other animals get in, some say it doesn't. It's up to whatever each wants to build. But Thank you! And yes some screws on any one side to clean it out. Thank you!
i finally made a bird house, but it turned into a bird apartment. hope the can get along. nice bird house though, some people go all out for some reason and build one better than their own house....hahaha.
A little glue will seal the cracks and keep the moisture out. Just thinking about the babies. Also scrib below the hole to give some traction for the little ones to get to the door
That looks like pressured treated wood. DO NOT use that wood to make bird houses. It can make the birds sick. Use cedar fence slats instead. Great video other than material used.
You can use pressured wood but you have to wait. I have used it for years. I do not put the nest out for immediate use by the birds. I put it uncovered outdoors to weather where the birds can’t get at it for a few months. I agree you shouldn’t put the nest out for immediate use, but it would be a shame not to use perfectly good wood. I am currently using a piece of pressured wood that has been weathering outside for over a year and this nest will be put out for use immediately. I haven’t come across any problems to date.
The only time you really should of used the clamps and you missed it lol.. you clamp down the wood a million times to do straight cuts but then don't use them when your drilling holes with a forsener bit lol . Well done lad
I used 1 inch nails, any would work. Make sure you leave one side with screws to be able to open it to clean it. I did so on my second video of building a birdhouse

It's all good but You should not use chemically treated wood to build a bird house. You should use non-treated pine or cedar. A tip. GLUE the edges of the roof together and nail it. The glue will waterproof the seam.
Or put a V shaped metal aluminum on the roof seam as well. 🇨🇦. 👍😷. 💉

Before 2003, pressure-treated lumber was often treated with chromated copper arsenate. PT is safe now days

Untreated is recommended won't harm the birds then
What size hole for the bird ?
It depends on the bird you are looking to accommodate, you can check online for what birds are around where you Live and find the right size. I think mine was about 2in
Smaller the better 1.25 is best, any bigger the house Sparrows get in and kill everything. Chickadee, wrens likw 1.25. 2.0 is too big

How are you going to clean it out?
Could you add metric measurements?
You reiterate this just decorative. No way to clean, no vent, no drainage, hole is too big, landing just invites predators.
What is the easiest way of hanging it?
How many inches thick is the wood
It’s about 1/2 inch
How did you hang it?
You can use a long screw from the inside on the back, or hang it and secure the back and bottom.

What’s the length of the board
The standard fence board of 6ft
You didn’t say what size hole to drill
So how long is the wood?
6ft tall by about 5in wide
Where can i find the dimensions?
How to you attach it to a tree, wall or fence?
You can use a long drill bit and attach it from inside or any way you’d like as long as it is secure and will stay put

You did not make a clean out ... Also there should be more ventilation than just the bird hole
Be sure to NOT use pressure treated wood for birdhouses. It is very dangerous to baby birds.
