I have never spun a fractal but you make it look so easy. I am wishing for a blending board for Christmas. A few months ago I asked about yours. Thanks for your quick response. I took a look at all the products in that line and the quality looks amazing. Thanks for all that you do.
Thank you for this video. I am about to try my first fractal, and I stewed over how to do it for a couple months. I finally separated out the fiber the other night, but I have a combination of batts and braids, and I wasn't sure how it would all work. Now I know what I'm going to do!! My blending board hasn't gotten any love in awhile, but it's about to!
I have build a blending board by myself with a kitchen board from Ikea and have tackered a carding surface on it. Very cheap solution !! Happy spinning from Helga in Germany !
I missed Bean in this video. Took me a minute go realize the puppy wasn't her. My own small human had to point it out. Maybe I need more sleep. I loved the husband cameo. That fractal makes me want to buy a blending board right now! It was so gorgeous!
Hi Grace, This was a nice relaxing video to wake up to. Your husband is hilarious! Now I'm ready to get up and dust off my blending board. I was wondering if you might do a video about rolag tips and tricks. I made a bunch of rolags in the beginning of the year for a sweater spin but I'm stalled on it because the rolags are so tight, they don't draft easily and I feel like I have to rip them apart which is hard on my hands as well as giving me an inconsistent result. Since you work with rolags a lot I thought maybe you would have some incite on do, don'ts and troubleshooting to make spinning them easier. One of the things I would like to know is if it's possible to take them apart and re-card them.
Zira Michelle LoveoftheDark giggle! Yeah he's a goof. :P I decided it would just be inauthentic to hide them since they're "all up in my business" all the time. In real life I never am seen without Bean and typically not C soooo... Why not online too? :P
HI grace. I was wondering if you are going to do the hanukkah this year as well. I loved it last year. I was also wondering if i can send you something for it. would be super fun. I dont sell fiber or anything like that but i would love to help some.
Is that a bog standard hair brush? I don't know if it would help you but I was told not to hang on to fibres as they go onto the drum carder as that's what causes it to stick to the licker in brush, might just be my carder though!
What make and model is your drum carder? It looks like a baby brotherdrumcarder. (Which is the brand I'm looking at; good reviews and they're more affordable than others). I'm just trying to figure out how big a carder I need. I'm torn between baby and standard. Thoughts?
It is a brother baby brother! So is the blending board actually ;) I've used all of the brother products because I did there brochure rewrite and several videos for them. I highly recommend them! Grace, their customer service lady, is absolutely the most Charming lady you could ever hope to talk to!! As for a standard versus a baby it depends on what you want to blend. The main limitation I find is horizontal real estate. So if you want a long sexy gradients you may want to go for the standard.
Melissa Hall watch my three ply fractal video for an explanation on what a fractal is :) basically it's stripes within stripes. So here we've got one big rolag which means one big repeat of stripes. Ply that with several tiny repeats, the rolags, and you've got a fractal. :)
I love seeing little peeks of your baby in your videos!

You are too cute. Thank you for your videos. They really are helpful. I’m excited to use my new blending board.

awesome!! That's such a good solution!

Little bean is in the video at the beginning when she is using the drum carder in the harness she's wearing little beans in there😊

This was so much fun! Your hubby is a hoot! I love that you share your family in your videos. :)

Oh my gosh! Your hubby is so good looking! Go you!
Love the yarn and your husband is hilarious 😂😂. Waving back 👋🏻
Love the baby on your back!!
Nice how your dress /apron matches you yarn while you are plying
Thanks for mentioning the weight you spun your yarn at! It's so hard to tell on these videos.
You are my hero. I could never do that with a babe on my back . You rock.

Since you have rolags, do you ever spin them woolen?
hey grace, wondering what brand drum carder you're using??

Your assistant is too precious! What does fractal mean in the context of fiber?
cool
This wasn’t just blending board some of us don’t have drum carders etc it’s pretty for beginners we need every step too not sped up footage .
What makes this a "fractal?"
