- "To Love and to LARP" follows Matt and Katie Dean, a married couple who met in an unusual way - on an imaginary battlefield as the characters they created for themselves in the fantasy role-playing game of Amtgard.
The two 28-year-olds spend their weekends in Ottawa LARPing, or Live Action Role Playing, as members of the baronetcy of Felfrost, one of 400 chapters of the game in North America.
Katie, a theatre major from Rochester NY, currently works at a tea store, while Matt, an engineering grad, is in the midst of job hunting. Amtgard is the centre of their social life, and offers a weekly escape, as they leave behind the real world and become someone else for awhile.

I've been playing Amtgard for a little over three years now. In "mundania" I work in security full time as well as going to college full time. I regularly struggle with chronic anxiety and depression. Sunday afternoons have become my saving grace. I've become a member of a fighting company that has become my second family. My girlfriend's father is my knight. I've met more people than I ever would have before joining Amtgard. I probably would have broken down a long time ago if I didn't have Amtgard in my life.
They have a healthy new kid and continue to be awesome people :)
I tried the academic route but found I could not tolerate a office setting,wearing a suit or any of that bullshit
I turned my back on that life and embraced living off-grid and writing,composing music,crafting and wilderness survival. I am so much more happy out in the wild and away from metropolitan life.
I do have solar/wind power and wi-fi to communicate with the world but I can go 3-5 months without seeing another human.
LARPing is a fun escape from the last vestiges of the world I grew up in and was expected to conform to.

i go to way better larps then these, we are in the woods so its more secluded makes you feel actualy way, and it lasts the whole weekend so we sleep in tents, we even have a tavern and camps, things you see in the video.....scrub level larping
