This scene was beatifully shot. Danny Glover slowly approaching with uncertainty on what to find ahead just to stumble and see his friend being brutally kill in the distant, still not knowing the magnitude of the killer being chased. Then the Predator escaping fast. Even though we know how the Predator is from seeing the original, they used the same slow approach on revealing more of him kill after kill until he is fully reveal in the final showdown with the main protagonist. This movie was a super decent sequel to the original, which to be honest, is never going to be surpassed. I'm totally baffled to why it has a low rating by the critics and general public, even though it became a cult classic afterwards. The only explanation I can think of is the expectation on having Arnold and continuing the same formula as the original. This one is eons ahead and better than Predators (2010) and The Predator (2018).
@cam3lopard I agree with you. I think it worked out better that he wasn't in the sequel. It shows that Arnold is not the only person who's had to deal with a Predator. It gives the studios a chance to use other talent as well then sets up a future interaction/film when Arnold is face to face with another Predator but this time knowing what he's going up against. Thats a film I'd pay for and love to see!
@cam3lopard Many people dont like P2 but I thought it was awesome. One would think, oh Predators are in the jungles in war zones, I have zero chance to run into one of those. Then they put one in a crowded city! Now its just as terrifying all over again --- there are no safe zones or boundaries with this thing.
The predator choose Jerry out of all his kills for the trophy. You can tell he previously worked the body before dragging it down into the tunnel. You can see he clean the head prior to ripping the bone out.
This scene was definitely toned down from the original version of the work print. I pray everyday fox will release the uncut NC-17 version of predator 2.
The so callled "NC-17 version" is not all that scary. I've read the script. The Predator just used more of his razor darts and threw his combistick more often. Some of the kills were different, but the extra gore and blood did not exist. It's an urban legend. Predator 2 comic is basically the NC-17 version everyone's looking for (it's page is even included in this vid).

What i absolutely love about the scene is the character building: Harrigan has vertigo and when he climbs on to the step in the subway station at the beginning of this scene (not in this video) he walks slowly and presses up to the wall, looking down on to the track as if it was a houndered feet below him.
No, if you didn't knew the original version had to be cut for a R instead of a NC 17 instead of showing the spine ripping far away. It was instead in close up and featured a lot of blood before reshooting it to the scene we see now. other scenes had to be reshoot or cut (the subway scene originally had the lights kept on instead of flashing and other scenes) nudity had to be trimmed as well
Your ribcage is actually free floating bar the linking cartridge. Now while it's doubtful one could yank in just a few vertebrae and pull your whole spine out, two deep cuts through your musculature (like the two wrist blades on predators forearm) could theoretically allow this move. The real question, however, is that if they only value the skull, why not just decapitate?
