    Discipline? For what?
There was no profanity in the speech. He just stated his opinion, in a speech he was authorized to give. He did not violate any school board policy.

This is the problem. So many schools put up a facade and show to the public that their environment is “safe” and “student-friendly” when in reality so much more is happening behind the scenes. It’s pathetic, really. I’m in 10th grade now and these things have really happened to me. Yet my school decides that they don’t want to take the initiative and do something about it.

I don't plan on going to my graduation. I have been to so many being in band. You basically just listen to what the school wants people to say, and nothing that actually happened in the school year. During 10th grade, a senior was injured from other students. The senior got in trouble for defending himself against them. A teacher was found to be sexually harassing the girls in his gym class. He wasn't fired for 4 years. A teacher failed every boy in their class just for existing, and gave every girl a passing grade despite not doing any work. A student had their entire backpack worth of stuff stolen. The teachers randomly searched every student's lockers. And my sister got her inhaler confiscated at some point because they thought it was drugs. I was assaulted during lunch, and reprimanded until cops sided with me as the victim. A student nearly killed someone and was just scolded. A bathroom was destroyed by a student, and was only given a 2 day suspension for it. The teachers treat you like you will amount to nothing, and only help you if you are an a or b student. Not even helping the students who are actually struggling.
Why should i walk my graduation, when the school has done nothing but cause me problems and has proven to give up on anyone who needs help?

I don’t like calling attention to myself and I don’t like being the center of attention so walking across the stage which was actually a baseball field coming from the band up steps across the riser shaking hands was just a calamity waiting to happen for me. The speech is the highlight of his year and probably his entire high school time. He did good.

You can tell that he is a good kid, and seeing this is sad,,,school staff need to do more, and take these matters seriously, but many times they dont.don't.. and they try to bully this kid after his speech, which is not cool at all..WHen schools and districts sweep things under the rug,,,they get a better score...for example only 18% of students at so and so high-school have experienced bullies,,,,when in reality it's 72% have... but now they come across as a better school and GET A HIGHER RATING, and become a more desired school for others to attend,,,and in a speech or literature they say 18% is too high,,and we keep working on taking it down to zero...The reality is, is that this lacks integrity, it hurts kids, and is a very SHADY PRACTICE..

Something... Similar happened to my dad. Grandpa went to the school and jammed the barrel of a 32 caliber browning pistol he took of a german officer in ww2 into the principles mouth where they had a calm respectful discussion of whether my dad would be allowed to walk his 8th grade graduation. Dad walked, the principle quit.

Even if it was an inaccurate statement (which I highly doubt it was), he didn't threaten anyone. That was his opinion, and they shouldn't take away his walking at the school because of that.

Hope a lawsuit is still possible. First amendment right to express any opinion even if it "hurts feelings."

Let me guess, school board was all over 70 years old or they were Karen’s and their kids were the bullies. I understand a kid has to learn to stand up for themselves, but these schools need to teach kids that. Instead they teach them that they are invalid.

What do you mean by stand up for themselves? It's their job to make their establishment safe otherwise they're being neglectful and students shouldn't go there.
