Hey, really nice to have discovered your channel man. I actually plan to do a similar challenge for myself, but first I need to do some research on the conventions of various genres haha. I think something like this helps greatly with finding out which genres you like, and to find 'your sound'. An added side benefit is that you will inevitably learn a lot about which features make different genres work, and how one might combine them to create a new genre! As I mentioned, I want to do the same thing, and once I have made at least one track that I'm happy with for several genres, I plan to actually continue the challenge by always randomly picking two distinct genres, and then trying to make a hybrid between them. Perhaps you had the same idea, I'm looking forward to seeing where this series of yours is going! Edit: Perhaps it would also be fun to randomly choose a genre, and then randomly choose a sound. For example, if you get DnB as a genre and Saxophone as a sound, you gotta figure out a way to make Saxophone fit into a DnB track. Perhaps this could be done by taking a Sax sample and turning it into a bass or a lead. Idk man I'm just spitballing haha but I'm excited to see that we had a similar idea.
