My Husband and I have done this 7 times, every time awesome we did it twice in light Blizzard conditions, at the top there was 2 ft of snow... love the Stars! Next time do a real early morning hike leave at 3am and take in the Sunrise. Thanks guys! Great show yum yum! 🕊️
Of course! Mahalo for your lovely comment and for watching our video. We are so proud to be advocates for responsible and respectful travel and one of our biggest goals is to encourage others to respect the culture of the beautiful places they visit. ❤️
Great Video! Can't wait to go myself! Looks like you made it down in time & didn't need the headlamp! I love the Nitecore NU25 headlamp for backpacking - it's 1.9oz all in! Maybe will lighten your pack for the next hike! 🥾💡
Glad you enjoyed our video! We visited in May and experienced a wide range of temperatures. At some points we were very hot and others we were very glad that we had a jacket and a beanie. Definitely bring layers!
Thanks for the video ! I wonder, have you encountered somenone who was sleeping at the top outside? (sleeping bag, bivuac bag). I am actually travelling there this january ! Thanks for the response :)
Sorry for the late reply. Hope your trip went well. We did not encounter anyone camping here. Did you find out if they allow camping? If so, was there a permit process? Thanks for watching.
so inspiring! me and my bf drove up at sunset. it was beautiful but too cold to stay out of the car for long at the top. the snow was beautiful, and did you get a chance to see lake waiau? we ran out of time to see it
We're so glad you enjoyed the video! I (Justin) was getting pretty bad elevation sickness by the time we reached the top, so we did not make the detour to see lake Waiau. Glad you had fun and I hope you get a chance to go back and see the lake some day :)
@@JustinandJess I see! yes I hope I do and for you as well. we stopped by the visitor center a second time when we were driving home from the volcanoes park and saw shooting stars! such a special place on earth
It took us close to 8 hours to reach the top, but I (Justin) was suffering from pretty bad altitude sickness by the time we reached the summit. If not for that, we probably would have done it much quicker. We touched on this at the end of the video, but we ran into a ranger when we started our hike down who inquired about my altitude sickness and he was able to find somebody to drive us back down. Be safe out there and know your limitations.
@@teebeeishFor us, for example, it took us 9 hours in total. We have a 35 year old and a 50 year old. We have a normal physical condition, we are not sporty. The first two kilometers were the hardest because it goes up a lot at the start. No problem due to altitude. I'm French and I don't speak English well. I hope I didn't make too many mistakes
Production quality equal to the height of that hike!
You're too kind 🙏

You suck! Not everyone has your same fantasy beliefs, climbing the top won't hurt anyone.

Thanks for the recommendation! When you're carrying 15lbs of camera gear, every ounce matters!
Thanks for watching!
What month did you guys hike? I'm wondering how much cold gear to pack!! Thanks for sharing your adventure 🥰

Congratulations, I would have given you a ride down also. 🤙

How long did it take you to climb? Lowering? THANKS

8 hours to just reach the top? what about the total length of time

When measuring from the sea floor isn't Everest the tallest mountain?
The base of the Mauna Kea mountain extends down 19,700 feet to the ocean floor, making it higher than Mount Everest by a mile!
@@JustinandJessfr its taller than mount Everest even with a Himalayan boost
.
i love the blue leggings
I think i rather go there instead Everest
It's certainly a lot warmer! 🤣
