    Currently revisiting Bodom’s catalogue after Laiho’s death. I started with Something Wild tonight, and it’s such a fascinating listen from beginning to end. One of the greatest melodic death metal bands finding their sound, with everything in the world to prove.

    Something Wild is somewhere in my top 3 of best metal albums. Ever. Not because of production, technique, arrangements, mastering etc. But because it's raw, wild, dark and so very melodic. Credit goes out to the whole band, not just Alexi, they all really add to the total feel of the album and this kind of magic only happens very rarely. It confirms the saying that the best metal is made by (very) young men. I remember when it came out in the beginning i did not even realize some solos where keyboards. I'm not sure it was this record, but i think there are several licks from Mozart and the likes to be heard in multiple songs.
    Tip for vinyl lovers. Sometime soon (next few weeks) another vinyl reissue (limited edition) will come out. But remember this album was not recorded to an analog source...so there are 0's and 1's somewhere in the chain.
    Go Alexi, where ever you are!

    This album is really good for a band of teens back then. Very talented.
    Do one for "Hatebreeder" my favorite album. R.i.p. Alexi, i still have his guitar pick!

    I love this album, to me it's the best Bodom album even better than "Hatebreeder". Since 2004, the first time I heard it, every year during Christmas time I listen to this album over and over. I don't know if it's because of the keyboard sounds or the classical melodies, but to me it sounds so "Christmas-ish" and I don't mean it in a blasphemous way. Surely it's in my top 10 of the best melodic death metal albums of all time!

    My favorite album of them. I love it as much as I did the first time I've heard it when I was 11. The fact that they were so young when they recorded it makes it that much more impressive.

    This is very well made. Funnily enough it is very similar to a series we have on our channel with the same name and everything. Were you inspired at all by a channel called Therageaholic?

    This album is pure gold. Still have it. I remember that they truly hated song called "in the shadows". And i believe that they did not play it live that many times during their first gigs. Why did you play Kalmah in that "i am the cow" part.

    • @theardortraveler7920
      @theardortraveler7920  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's what I understand about In the Shadows. Also I put that part in was because I have a hard time listening to what death metal singers are saying at times. Hence why I put the words, "I am a Cow" but it's actually, "I have atoned".

      You're right, it is out of place for a metal retrospective to be a channel that's about traveling but this was before I rebranded my channel a few years ago. I just wanted to tip my hat to a band that got me through high school and I thought it would be cool to do a retrospective from Something Wild to Hate Crew, but just did this one video. Why couldn't I continue on? I guess my mind and heart was not feeling it to do a series.
