Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous to expect every content creator and their dog to voice their opinion on a war they, deep down, might not really care about at all. The vast majority of people likely don't really care about it, and the only time I've ever seen anyone menton the war over there is either online or in those annoying protests I sometimes see on the news. The average Joe doesn't care, they have their own lives to worry about, so why do we expect a DnD streamer to voice an opinion? Matt Mercer doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, his word carries no weight, least of all when it comes to the wars between foreign nations, so why do folk expect him to denounce one side and support the other? It's all a little silly. I wonder what the next trendy tragedy will be in a year or so? Something that will make us all forget about the current big thing, just as that made us all forget about the thing before that.
He doesn't need your sympathy, he's more successful than you will ever be and has helped support charity campaigns that have brought more good into the world than you possibly could. Have some dignity you pathetic child.

I fully recognize the importance of mental health issues, but it kind of burns me a bit when you have someone with fame and money say they are "depressed". Brother I wish I had your problems. At least you have the resources to get the help you may need, unlike thousands of other people with similar problems.
@@TiaraStarbrighter And, the squeaky wheel gets the oil. The Celebs that "come out" with mental issues have all the resources to get the help they require, while the average person with clinical depression is left to own devices. Which in many cases isn't enough. But, yeah, lets give all our sympathy to the celebs that air their laundry on tik tok.
I think you are perhaps being a bit too hard on him here, but that point about cutting the toxic people out of your life is a good one. I have a distinct feeling you might be right about that one. Still doesn't fix the depression, but hey, keeps it from getting fed. To be honest, I think the better advice here is make up some savings and throw the 'fans' away. You've still got your voice acting career, and plenty of not woke lunatics (still lunatics, but hey, at least they don't secretly hate you) that will happily go to bat for you. Signed, a not woke lunatic.
It amazes me that one conflict can garner so much attention. According to Google there are 35 armed conflicts going right now in Africa. Does that left care, hell no!
How exactly do you expect "the left" to care about every conflict in the world when there are so many? The problem with supporting conflicts in Africa is corrupt governments that have proven time and time again that aid money gets used for things they are not intended for. It's why The Red Cross and many other humanitarian groups are supported and they travel to effected places and actually help people there helping to create housing and access to clean water and medication for people displaced by wars. If you think about your comment for a few seconds with any shred of intelligence you would realise how stupid it is.
Come on, Mr. D, you can do better than that. Stop beating around the bush. Stop sugar-coating your advice. Tell Mr. Mercer what you really think about his lack of masculinity.
Brother DD, you wouldn't believe the lunacy man! I've been playing a lot of Helldivers 2 lately, which is basically Starship Troopers and Terminator lovechild. But this has opened this whole discourse around Starship Troopers and lefties siding with the bugs because the humans in the movie are "FaScIsT" even tho...in the book...that's absolutely not the case. But side with the genocidal bugs over humankind...it's something sick in the head brother!
Even in the movie they aren't, Verhoeven dressed them up as N@z1's but failed to make them act like them, the humans even in the movies are the good guys, despite Verhoeven's intent.
@@Daredhnu Yes, between the young, good-looking humans and the giant bugs, I'm going to side with the humans. Seriously, was it supposed to be a trick question? I don't want to tell Verhoeven how to do his job, but maybe he should have read the book first.

Saw this on X about an hour after it was posted. I knew it was an ad for the US to get in the middle of something that is none of our business. I often wonder if Matt and friends only started streaming because they thought it would help them become more popular VAs. They admitted that they changed from Pathfinder to D&D when they started streaming because D&D would be easier for an audience to digest. I wouldn't have changed my home game to fit an audience if streaming my home game was just for fun. Not bashing Matt, but just puts the whole CR thing into a different light. I honestly think Matt might be completely different than he portrays online. He takes all the blunt force and kick back for the group for the dumbest stuff. I think he has been almost forced into his role as the face of the group and has been trying to get out for a while. It's a weird thing to watch for sure.
The "spoons" thing has always been lame but at least at first it was supposedly used by people with chronic illness when they described trying to accomplish what they could with the little energy they had. It's strangely despicable to see a millionaire invoking it because he's got the sads over happenings across the globe.
depression and sciatica (which he mentioned in his video, although only referring to it as back pain) are both chronic illnesses and can often be disabling. depression can be a very serious illness, and sciatic can cause people to be bed bound, which has happened to matt in the past
Ignoring the shrieking harpies, or better yet meme'ing them into oblivion, is the only acceptable means of dealing with them, otherwise you give them control over you. It always kills me when modern adults, especially modern men, put themselves out in public and shine a spotlight on just how weak of body and mind they are. Grow a pair and grow a spine Matt.
"It's really rough?" This is so ridiculous and fake. I don't even know where to start. Others have mentioned the painted nails and blanket. The rough life of the millionaire voice actor? Does he realize that the same side he's endorsing would not react well to the painted nails and blanket? Or to anything he does or believes? How is he not ashamed with this whole video? Assuming he eventually has sex with his wife and they have children: Is this what he would want his sons to be like? Or his daughters? He's not an adult. This is just sad.
Matt has had painted nails in many videos, what's the issue? Not something the CR community has ever cared about or any adult should care about how other people dress. I think the size and gross characters in this little right wing cult show how uninterested most people are in the D&D community about people like you.
Performative appeals from a position of effete meekness only succeed in stoking my complete and utter indifference. To be a savage in modern times is to be honorable and free.
I have a hard time taking people serious on Gaza/Israel when they have never mentioned the ongoing war in Yemen that has infinitely higher body counts. Or any of the other massive tragedies going on in the world that won’t gain them clout.
So to be taken seriously by you people have to talk about every single one of the many conflicts going on in the world right now? What a silly thing to say.
Big reason why I can't get into 5e, fake fans and grifters like this guy and the rest of Critical Troll have helped turn it from a niche nerd hobby into something infested by normies.
My daughter when little, loved painting everyone's nails... so her brother and I often had painted nails for a time. I don't know if he has a daughter...
Can you PLEASE do a list for Board Game companies? I know it's not exactly your thing but you're the only voice that might get heard. Love what you do.
So, is the new Critical Roll campaign about a God-like entity directing a group of alleged adventurers crying into their elven ale, feeling sad about wars happening on different continents? Sounds a bit too Zoomer for my tastes.
Yea, no, big X to doubt here. I don't buy it from any American that is not of some appropriate regional descent when they (so obviously) pretend to care about stuff like this. That goes for either side, and any of the myriad conflicts that are currently ongoing in the world. Unless it directly affects you or your loved ones, your tears are empty virtue signals to me. I care a whole lot about all the money that we're burning on these conflicts, but I literally could not care less about the conflicts themselves, and I have a hard time believing fkn Matt Mercer cares, either

I used to like Season 1 of Critical Role a lot. Season 2 began ok but that's where it started to go awry, the second half is when i stopped watching. I checked out some later stuff out of curiosity and it was depressing, the lgbt and feminist pandering was off the charts. Thing is, some of the cast including Matt were pretty decent, likeable people who got gradually more progressive, i think mostly just by their circumstance - being voice actors in California - which means not being (or acting) progressive would effectively mean the end of their careers. This video is a one of many signs of what the sane/former CR fans have been seeing for a very long time - he and others in the cast are trapped in by their incredibly woke audience and dont know how to get out of it. That, i think, is what makes him depressed - pandering to what he though are kind, sometimes even vulnerable people, because he's a good person, too much so for his own good - not realizing how many of them are absolutely toxic assholes. Matt doesnt strike me as a greedy person. Dont get me wrong, im sure thinking of the finances is part of it - going against the woke would mean not only losing CR revenue but possibly his voice acting career as well. CR also employs many people who he considers friends so if he gets backlash, they do. But also, it wouldnt just mean financial loss - it would mean loss of friends, colleagues who would have to distance themselves from him, immense hate on social media and in person at events and such - it would be a disaster for him, his wife, friends etc. I think that's what's more scary to him than losing the money. So he's kinda stuck where he is and i expect it will end up with him leaving CR, leaving the spotlight in general, and just keep to himself. They made their bed, yes, so now they have to lie in it. Still, i have some sympathy for them, their circumstances didn't leave them much choice. Well, technically they had a choice, but it was a very hard one, and they chose poorly.
I think you've totally lost your mind. If you look into any of the history of the cast you would know they're pretty liberal / left leaning and have for a long time been against bigots and right wing politics. They're not trapped by anything and they certainly aren't struggling. If you snowflakes can't handle people being empathetic and caring about others and asking if people are able to help support good causes then good riddance, no one wants you degenerates as part of their community.
As someone that has studied psychology , philosophy , sociology , biology & etc. He is a lier. The simple cue is he keeps looking to away from the camera when he is talking about depression and he only acts sad during the moments he says he is sad or depressed which is the moments he reminds himself he is supposed to be sad. But otherwise when he doesn't mention it for a while. He starts to cheer up & start looking at the camera more.

Matt's video makes no sense. It has no purpose other than to tell his fans that he's depressed over stuff happening in the world, which will only fuel those who have a parasocial relationship with Critical Role. Those who watch it for entertainment/escape won't care about this. I think his video was done in poor taste. Now, if he had said he was depressed and taking some time off from CR as a means of letting his fans know why their content would be going on hiatus, that's one thing. But this just sounds like a video with no obvious message for people to interpret, which will lead his fans to have conflicting interpretations and cause a ruckus.
I have no interest in depressed millionaires. "It's real rough out there." Not for you Millionaire, Matt.

Me losing my pay increases cause all the budget went to Ukraine and Israel last year IS my problem- though.

Matt Mercer's response while counting his money: "yeah things are tough out there right now."
He donates money to the causes Critical Role support every single time. Let alone using it as a shallow excuse to virtue signal.

dont waste your tie giving him advice, he's where he want's to be
I think you are perhaps being a bit too hard on him here, but that point about cutting the toxic people out of your life is a good one.
Hamas is the problem here.
Huh...if that's a professional actor, I guess anybody can do it.

But side with the genocidal bugs over humankind...it's something sick in the head brother!
Been following that debate on Twitter. It is crazy!

The book is positive toward fascism while the movie is making fun of fascism. You might want to took into the director and why he made the movie satirical of it's source material. You look like a dingus.
Saw this on X about an hour after it was posted. I knew it was an ad for the US to get in the middle of something that is none of our business. I like watching the CR campaigns but I hate most of their politics. Travis is ok, I think Laura avoids politics and focuses on sex jokes. I can respect that. the rest push for questionable things which is sad because Liam O,Brian is one of my favorite in the group but his politics make me question his sanity.
I suspect a _lot_ of it is performative.
Matt’s self inflicted problems are not my concern
I often wonder if Matt and friends only started streaming because they thought it would help them become more popular VAs. They admitted that they changed from Pathfinder to D&D when they started streaming because D&D would be easier for an audience to digest. I wouldn't have changed my home game to fit an audience if streaming my home game was just for fun. Not bashing Matt, but just puts the whole CR thing into a different light. I can't blame them for seeing a window of opportunity and taking it.

Ever since CR chased the easy money of LGBT pandering, they've been enslaved to their audience.
The "spoons" thing has always been lame but at least at first it was supposedly used by people with chronic illness when they described trying to accomplish what they could with the little energy they had.

You're such a bully! I'm gonna go paint my nails and watch CR!
