We just fished the TBF championship last weekend man we found a bunch on a brush pile in 18 feet of water that wouldn't eat anything smith mt lake mid summer fish been beat on BAD. By 1 o'clock we had 2 fish for less than a pound I pulled out a spinning rod 6 pound line a tiny marabou hair jig between 130 and 230 we put 19 pounds in the boat with small spoons and tiny hair jigs for our first win. It works brother thanks
Just found your channel recently an you gained a new sub! Absolutely love the way you go into detail about lures. That’s the things everyone wants to know and others will cover baits but won’t tell you what you want to know. I’m loving your channel! Keep it up!
Ive never thrown spoons of that size, growing up in the cooler months I would throw a Hopkins jiggin spoon. It straight up smoked'em.. (in N.C.) Im now in S.Florida looking forward to trying these big boys out.. i really dig the channel bro..
This is the video that I needed I just started to learn how To fish with a spoon I just seen An older video that you done a few years ago. Tight lines and thank you for the great info you put out here for us.
those look a lot like a silver fish trolling spoons i use. just a bit of a add on all O-rings are not the same. i know the good ones are pricey but, i learned the hard way big fish will pull the O-ring out and all you get back is the spoon. great stuff
I saw on Smith Mountain Lake they were reaching down and grabbing the spoon like a friggin handle rather than boat flip. Mainly because they were catching striper that were too damn big for the net and were way too heavy to boat flip. So don't be afraid to grab that big ass spoon in their mouth. You're not likely to get hooked since the spoon usually only has 1 treble hook and they usually choke the hook end. So it's pretty easy to just grab it and hoist them up.
I got a couple nicole's flutter spoons a while ago for these herring lakes. I haven't used it yet but I been fishing more smaller lakes/giant ponds. I'm a kayak angler so I like getting places most people can't. I will definitely use my spoons next time I'm at Murray or Clarks hill! I could get largemouth or striper there. Ton of fun hooking into a huge stripper in the yak. They can pull me around easily. Hopefully I can hook into a 25+ pounder this season. I know local guys are catching monster striper at Clarks hill this year. That's something new to me but fun & different. Plus I can fish my big swimbaits catch them or bass
all i gotta say is thank you for this video cause i have a yt called Bertha Squad so if i catch anything tm on the kayak itll be on the channel tm thanks to you i hope i break my pb with these techniques !!! your amazing for this my guy!!
Love the lake, fork, spoon, but you’re right you do need to change out the hardware. On Lanier, you can also do that last technique you mentioned, which is sometimes called power reeling. Good for stripers! Thanks Mikey!
Honestly I've never tried it in the really stiff current usually I'm fishing it more around main river and secondary Creek breaks but that big one would definitely get down I think you would just hang the bottom all the time.
Love the chatter bait never tried the mini need to get some, question I have a bunch of keitech paddle tail baits would you suggest cutting off the tails to a point? Just wondering! Tight lines
A thought…Awhile back someone sold a split ring that was designed to release the hook at a certain pound rating (don’t recall the manufacturer name). Could you use that kind of split ring with a fluoro or braid loop also attached to the hook that would act as a decoupler from the weight of the spoon…so when you set the hook the split ring would let go, but the floro/braid leader would still hold. Is that a potential way of decreasing the likelihood of a fish throwing that treble before you get them in the boat? Just curious if you or anyone you know had tried something like that to improve hookup to land ratio.
Been something I want to try around here as I know there’s not many people throwing them. How about relatively shallow stained water, would it still work
I live on a very clear lake in Fl about 12 ft visibility. The lake has 3 deep holes the are anywhere from 22-30ft deep. Would you recommend using a flutter spoon there this summer?
Is that something you use in Florida as well? Struggling to think of a situation in our shallow hydrilla filled waters where that method would work. What is the minimum depth water you use a flutter spoon? Thanks
I did fish them a bunch in Florida but it was more like on the rim ditch and deeper water on Okeechobee or in those deeper clear water lakes in Central Florida
I fully agree. I live in Soutj Africa and i have a few spoons. I never fish them but after this video i will fish them for sure. Great video. Thanks Bud.
Don't be intimidated everything has a window and they smoke it just imagine it like a really big trap and when you look at the size and profile and comparison to some of the bait that they eat it matches right up not to mention it's one fun bite you got to give it a try
Flutter spoons are not a technique I've used much before. But it's funny that you posed this video because I was just looking at buying some Nichols spoons yesterday. I think the universe is trying to tell me something...well something other than the, "That doesn't go there, you idiot!" type of things it's usually trying to tell me.
Might be something to try man I used to actually fish them all around brush as well which was kind of sneaky lost a lot of metal down there but caught some big fish in the process
I think I've touched on it but never went this in depth and especially along the lines of fishing up here in Alabama down in Florida I used to fish that Magnum spoon a whole bunch but it was a little bit different fishing around cover like brush
I’m kinda glad people don’t talk spoons. Now that we’re into September, my last several giants have been on the spoon.

Love heavy metal videos!

Have some fun man and be patient takes a little time to get the hang of it but the bite is a blast
Good stuff brother!! Caught some on the Nichols today. My fav
Thanks! Great Video, Spoon fishing is definitely something I need to work on this summer!
Thanks, I believe I will. I bought a couple of the river to sea spoons. Do you think they will be good enough to learn on?
Dude, seriously, love your format, love the way you explain, Can't stop watching
Appreciate that dude
Thanks man, great info, I've never fished a flutter spoon, but I may try it now

I love the spoons they are beautiful where can I buy them I would love this spoons for Pier fishing 🎣
Great timing on this one. Heading up there to Douglas from Florida in less than 2 weeks. Happened to buy a few of these and hair jigs for the trip.
Sweet that should be an awesome trip
Very cool Mikey. I love fishing spoons here. Really nice is a great idea how to catch him over here
At 59, I can't help but see the humor in hair jigs and spoons. It's a definite case of comes around, goes around.
It’s never went away the smart ones kept their mouth shut about it
I remember Greg Hackney won a tournament on a spoon. Kept reeling em in at a dock. When he was done he sighed the dock.
I'm going to try my Ben Parker spoon soon!
Bro it's a lot of work but when they bite that thing they absolutely smash it

I changed our the treble hooks with single assist style hooks even putting them on both ends ( money ) 💰😮
Great content.
👊
Love this series! I appreciate you sharing your knowledge on lake breakdowns!
Great info my brother!!!! Been thinking about trying this technique out. Any thoughts or advice for using it on a kayak?
Shouldn't be any different as long as you got the right rod you get more than enough leverage to jerk that bait up the right way even from a kayak
I love using the spoon ❤️👍
As always thanks for the awesome vid man.
Thanks for tuning in bro
Thank you brother! for your time to help others and save wasted time in the learning curve👍😎🇺🇸
🤙
all i gotta say is thank you for this video cause i have a yt called Bertha Squad so if i catch anything tm on the kayak itll be on the channel tm thanks to you i hope i break my pb with these techniques !!! your amazing for this my guy!!
Go get them bud 👊
Love it Mikey! You the man always delivers good content
This is fluttering awesome. Thanks mike!!
🤣

Yes you will definitely catch a few of those in the process but they pull too and they're fun LOL
Great video! Appreciate the info !
How would you suggest fishing these large spoons in the current below the G’ville dam? Or would you?
Honestly I've never tried it in the really stiff current usually I'm fishing it more around main river and secondary Creek breaks but that big one would definitely get down I think you would just hang the bottom all the time.
Great content Mikey! Always a spoon rigged personally.
As alway interesting video and good information.
Dude. I need one of those shirts.
Love the chatter bait never tried the mini need to get some, question I have a bunch of keitech paddle tail baits would you suggest cutting off the tails to a point? Just wondering! Tight lines
Bro ?? Love your Vids and Boggs " The Wonder Dawg" ! 8:53 you hook a beast OMG !! That's whats up !!

Hey Mikey i was wondering what color would you prefer in Florida panhandle area i was thinking about trying the Nichols flutter spoon
Can't go wrong with shattered glass or one of the broken up pattern shad paint jobs
Thanks bro I appreciate it
Any thoughts on these spoons for clear water (Great Lakes) Smallmouth.
Great question !! I was thinking the same thing
If you think your ripping it too fast, you're not going fast enough... I live on kokanee lakes out west.
I would definitely give it a try the only thing you have to look out for is Pike
@@jaredraynor9067 thanks for the tip

AWESOME " VID! HOT TIPS! BE LIKE MIKEY!!!

Speaking of metal, love the shirt. Where'd you get it?
TOP INFO" IMHO!
Give Dixie Jet spoons a try Mike
Will check them out man
I was looking to get another Talon a couple weeks ago. They weren’t on Tackle Warehouse anymore. They are getting harder to find.
Someone else just mentioned that I guess I better stock up because those definitely have a unique action to them
Is that something you use in Florida as well? Struggling to think of a situation in our shallow hydrilla filled waters where that method would work.

Link for talon doesn't work. Tried to find some a while back with no luck.
Damn I didn't even check it maybe they went out of business I only have like three of them left I guess I better hold on
I struggle with snags on spoons….I suppose it’s more of an open water lure though
Johnson silver minnow. Your welcome.
I don’t know why but I’m a little intimidated by the spoon! I guess I just need to go buy some and get with the program, thanks Balzz🎣
I fully agree. I live in Soutj Africa and i have a few spoons. I never fish them but after this video i will fish them for sure. Great video. Thanks Bud.

Never used metal here in Michigan
The smallest tear them up the only problem is you end up catching a bunch of Pike in the process probably or losing a bunch of spoons you know
@@mikeybalzz I will try it out this year
Biggest bass I ever caught was on a chrome spoon!
There's a reason why spoons are so OG they just work and they have for years
The fun thing is when a five foot long gar eats this thing and you donate the spoon to the God of the lake …
Spooning with swimsuit girl.
🤣
Bro how do you have 89k subscribers? For years I have scratched my head at how TH-cam is screwing you
You have always provided top notch info and content. Appreciate it
Hey Bog!
Hey swimsuit girl!
The pros should be telling u that it's so situational that's it's not even worth it. Lol
Do they sell spoons at McDonalds now?
🤣
