Traxxas Revo 3.3 | Short Course

  • The Revo 3.3 handled great at the track today. Temperatures ranged from 224°-285°, the 285° was brief and dropped back down pretty fast. After a few adjustments it was driving great, accelerating fast, and it was staying pretty cool. Off camera I dropped the idle down slightly which really helped the idle speed. I ended up leaning out the bottom end more, and the Revo started coming alive.
    Any suggestions you may have that can help me better understand tuning would greatly help. I’m sure over time I’ll be able to adjust the Revo without even thinking about it.

    Nitro vet here, your high speed needle setting is about right, you want to aim for 230 degrees F, and your low speed needle is too lean, your engine is shutting off after 2-3 seconds so you need to richen it slightly so the engine shuts off after 5 seconds. Make each adjustment in 1/8th turn increments 👍

    • @ironhead320
      @ironhead320 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The 5 seconds is that with the pinch test

    • @lorenzfriedmann2829
      @lorenzfriedmann2829 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s wrong in two ways. If it was lean it would shut off after a longer period of time due to it using less fuel. Secondly 3 seconds after pinching it is perfect :|
      Respectfully, you’re wrong.

    • @Lander76
      @Lander76 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@lorenzfriedmann2829 Incorrect. Do more research or ask any racer and you'll find I'm right. 3 secs is lean on the LSN and the richer the needle is set the longer it will take the engine to shut off because there is more residual fuel in the carb and engine. This is nitro tuning 101

    You can adjust the transmision to shift sooner or later. This is also affected by the spur gears and pinion gear combinations.

    your not doing anything wrong. you just have to understand that with nitro you'll have to tune the engine to whatever the current environment calls for. literally every time. maybe during long run times the environment will change and so the tune will change along with it. and when adjusting it make small adjustments. in nitro we refer to them as "hourly" adjustments when turning the mixture screws. slight changes make BIG differences

    • @redbanditracing
      @redbanditracing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome thank you, I have heard of hourly from other videos. I’m switching to sidewinder fuel after I run out of the top fuel. I heard too fuel has too much oil.

    On your Nitro truck adjust your top and needle first for top speed then go to your low speed needle and adjust it until it comes out of the hole faster if you think you got it right pinch your fuel line off it should take 3 1/2 to 4 seconds to kill the motor if it does that you have it really close but adjusting the high and low at the same time you're going to be chasing Your Tail cuz every time you adjust the high speed it screws the low speed up think of it this way the high-speed needle would be your fuel flow going to the motor so when you got your top end consumption tuned in then go to your low speed needle and adjust it then pinch the fuel line off going from the carburetor to the gas tank it should take about three and a half to 4 seconds to shut the motor off but you need to run your truck for at least 2 or 3 minutes between every time you adjust the carburetor it doesn't have enough time to clean itself out

  • @calsportsmem3786
    @calsportsmem3786 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Start with the HSN and adjust for max WOT performance. Then If you lean your LSN too much you won't be able to bring your idle down low enough with the idle screw. If you can't lower the idle with the idle screw the richen the LSN to bring the idle down and then re adjust idle screw to bring the idle into the correct range.

  • @TFWS6
    @TFWS6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    If your temps are good and it’s not loading up too much at idle you need to adjust your idle gap to drop the idle.

    You're low speed needle needs to go up you need a written about the thickness of the screwdriver head times two and lean the top end out the same amount you got to set your top and needle first cuz it screws your low end needle up it builds a dead spot in the middle of the carburetor which you have when I do is when I get it tuned the way I want it to run and it runs good when I'm done for the end of the day I reach in the high-speed needle up an eighth of a turn for the next time I run you need to check your coolant temps right down the center of your head that's the only place to get a true reading once you get the carburetor set you'll never have to touch the low speed needle again when you're done for the day just reaching up the high-speed needle for the next time it's going to be rich and you can adjust down to it don't adjust your low end needle because your top and needle takes care of it I hope it helps good luck
