I love my Carter and Son tools. I can see I NEED another set. My favorite wood is anything with lots of figure and or “flaws”. I enjoy seeing what emerges from my Carter and Son tool.

Nice set of tools, mr. Mahoney and excellent work. Right now my favourite wood is any type of hard plum wood.
I have a large stash of white oak the wood at it's base is very dense and the end result is very satisfying

I enjoy using my carter tools to turn maple and cherry hollow forms, those are my favorite wood types, and I'm looking forward to trying some spalted hackaberry in just a few weeks, so who knows maybe that will become the new favorite... Mike is a great teacher, thanks for making these great tools!

Nice piece Mike! I’m sorry I missed your visit to the Bay Area a few months ago. Was out of town. 😢 I’d like to see a video showing how you completed this piece. My favorite wood is claro walnut, with carob as a second choice. There are so many I haven’t had a chance to work with yet!
I love working with white oak. We have a lot of it on the east coast. It's a very durable wood that makes for great utilitarian pieces such as bowls, plates and platters. I recently have been looking for a new holllowing system. I trust and follow Mike on all his turning recommendations. I'll be checking out the Carter and Sons new hollowing system. Great video! Black Walnut is my fav to turn.

Great video Mike, always love your how-to videos and knowledge sharing!! My favorite wood is Sweet Gum, everyone hates those pesky gumball trees, so they cut them down, but the wood is fantastic to turn, lots of lovely features.

Mesquite is my favorite, but if I lived where you are it would be walnut! I bought your 40/40 gouge at SWAT this year, love it!
