It all brings back memories. I lived in Norton Road and while walking the family dog with my father early one morning we found a body in Mary Stevens park lake of a man wearing a kilt . He had committed suicide . It was around 1963. I also helped build a canvas canoe and we trialed it on the lake. I can also remember the 1962/3 winter when I spent months coming down the hill from Love Lane all the way to the lake every night after school. I was brought up in Amblecote and ended up in engineering in Cradley Heath for 50 years. I can remember the coal mines over what became Withymoor housing estate as I used to do cross country running from King Edwards Grammar school rugby pitches behind Amblecote church. Where the engine sheds were. Many memories.
I bet this was amazing to see with the coal mines glad brings back many memories but the park I bet that was a bit creepy seeing that body . Thanks for sharing 😃
This vid takes me back. Living in Pedmore Fields as a kid we played in Stevens park all time. Later on I played football for Lye Town and we used to train in the park running up and down those hills. Happy days. Thanks for posting Drew
Bostin place, had a few wild nights knockin about down there, things might av happened in the old bandstand with a couple wenches after a few bevies at que pasa 😂
