    Great breakdown. I use the Rhode, but I position it close to me, I don't leave it on the camera. I also slightly edit the audio is post. But I'm curious to try out the MKE.

      The MKE is amazing. After more time with it, I essentially leave my rode at home just for voiceovers. I use the MKE everywhere else.

    Picked up the MKE 400 a few days ago, let's be real just the way it looks is light years ahead of the Rode.

    Hi man! I really like the video you made, I've just subscribed to your channel. What would you recommend if I film videos during basketball games?

      Hey, thanks for your kind words. And I really appreciate the support. And def! You should make videos of whatever you are passionate about. Just be careful when doing so as you don't want to break expensive equipment while filming intensive stuff haha

    This was much needed.. Thank you .. better review than so called youtuber.. orignal , genuine .....and finally i got an answer of why i get buzz sound in my video .. thank you for showing the levels.. just one question .. have you tried the video pro + on camera with any gimbal ?

      Hi. Thanks for watching and for your feedback! Appreciate it! And to answer your question, yes I do that but I use either a friction arm or a side handle and mount the mic there instead. You wont be able to balance it easily if you mount it on the camera and it is likely you won't have the clearance to go into briefcase mode which is why I do what I did. Hope this helps!

    Hello! Very informative video! I have problems with the microphone Sennheiser Mke 400 - its self noise! watching your video noticed that you know how to eliminate this problem!) How you make mic gain level negative to mic gain level neutral or plus? Because such settings eliminate the problem of microphone self-noise. Thanks in advance for your help!))

    • @BernardLau1991
      @BernardLau1991  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Thanks for watching. You can change the gain level from negative to plus via the controls on the side. There is one that has a + and - sign. Hope this helps!

    Thanks for a very useful video - new subscriber! These are exactly the two mics I am looking for. I record a lot of theatre productions and (where possible) I have two small diaphragm condenser mics (SE Electronics SE8) positioned left and right of the auditorium, going into a Zoom or Tascam field recorder, as well as a shotgun mic (AT8035) in the centre, also going into the field recorder. I mix the resulting audio in post as required. This all works great, although sometimes I am very limited for space (or cannot run cables) and can't have the luxury of external microphones. In these cases I am looking for a camera mounted mic that can either plug into the camera or into the field recorder. Which mic would you recommend for theatre productions where there is a wide dynamic range, between softly spoken dialogue and cheering audiences? My thought is the Rode, but I'd welcome your opinion. Thank you.

      Hi! Thanks for the support! It means a lot. To be honest, I’m not a very technical person, and I’m not a sound guy and all, so when I listen to my audio recordings, I can barely tell a difference unless I try.
      But I’m sure a pro sound guy would tell you differently. In any case, what I would tell you is that I miss the safety dual channel on the rode because I reach for the mke 400 for all my shoots now.
      I also recently got the Sony mic which is my second mic. My rode is just collecting dust at home at this point

    Great video Bernard! But im not sure if the tests you did truly showed the quality of the mics, since one of the camera's/mic was pointed to the side of your face instead of directly in front. i know you were just trying to save some time 😂 But thanks for the information, Keep it up!

    • @BernardLau1991
      @BernardLau1991  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the support! Which one was pointing at the side of my face tho? Like all of them? Or one of the examples.

    • @bryanwanphotography

      @@BernardLau1991 yea alot of the comparison shots one was from the front the other camera was getting a side angle. I dont think people would REALLY notice a difference but keeping it consistent helps. Just nit picking tho still a great video!

    I have both of these mics and the rode seems 20db more sensitive , did you find the same ?

    • @BernardLau1991
      @BernardLau1991  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      hmmm. I didn't analyse it to that extent. I just went with best settings and real world use. I have since sold my rode. Didn't bring it out on shoots anymore haha
