Ive recently done something similar and started sleeping on the floor, i cant afford expensive mattresses, and the cheap box springs are more harmful then good, i tried an air mattress but they kept deflating, so my temporary solution was to get 2 1.5 inch foam mattress toppers and stack them on top eachother, what they dont tell you is theres a transitioning process for sure youll feel some discomfort for a bit while your back is trying to realign itself properly (specially if you had a hunch problem like me standing was fine but when i sat down i have a bad tendency to hunch), its my first night on this new journey, and im excited to reach the point this guys at and eventually get a futon.
