I know you probably get this a lot, John. But you’re one damn good storyteller. Not super into 355s but that is one beautiful car. You just had me listen to such an interesting story behind a beautiful car.
I own a ‘94 F355 GTS, manual transmission. It has one of the only options that were available back then which is the lightweight racing seats. Very special car. Hope I never have to sell it. To find such a low mileage, manual car from the last year of production is indeed the proverbial needle in the haystack. Great story and wonderful pictures! Greetings from Belgium.
@@myleskitchen4328 Hi Myles, thank you. It is indeed quite unique as it is a pre-airbag car with the 2.7 Bosch motronic system. It was delivered new in Belgium through the famous importer Garage Francorchamps and I’m the third owner. The car has about 40k miles now.
@@wimdepril6920 , Interesting. I just checked the 355 Registry, and there are only 24 '94's listed out of 187 total '94 F355s! (www.ferrari355registry.com). Very rare indeed! FYI, the '95's also have the 2.7 Motronic systems. In '96 they had to update to the later Motronic to comply with Federal OBD II requirements, which continued through the run of the rest of F355s. Mine is two owner, with 54K miles. I think the F355 GTS's used in the filming of James Bond "Golden Eye" were likely '94 models. If you look closely, there are two. One has a small silver rectangular emblem on the rear valance panel, and the other does not. I've never seen that on another F355.
@@myleskitchen7650 Hi Myles, I didn’t know about this registry. Thanks for the tip. My VIN is the one ending on 100480. I may complete the data on the registry if I find the time.
FYI, the '95 F355 GTS is the rarest of this breed. First, very few were imported in '95 as they showed up late in the year, well after the release of the Berlinetta. They are certainly all 6 speed manual shifters, as the F1's arrived in '97. '95's are OBD 1, and NOT OBD II. As such, they are a bit simpler and easier to work on (no SD1 necessary), and they have a unique intake via dual air cleaners to mass airflow sensors directly into the heads. '96 and later are OBD II, and have different ECUs, and use a siamese'd intake, with two air cleaners merging into a single mass airflow sensor, then back out to two air intakes to the heads (as seen on this car in the video). This results in slightly less total airflow and HP than the '95, which has a bit more responsive throttle. There are a few other minor differences, but regardless of year, these are wonderful cars. The late Gerald Roush of Ferrari Market Letter in 2002 advised me that according to his records, he believed that there were only 175 total '95 F355 GTS's produced globally. Of those, there are currently only 49 listed in the F355 Registry that came to the U.S. (the registry is Global). Later years were produced in much larger numbers. How do I know this? I happen to own one of the 49, since 2001 as the second owner and love the 355.

Would probably pick a really good 355 over most super-high-end cars. The fact that I was 14 when this particular car was produced might have something to do with it ;)
With the exception of the F40, the F355 is my favorite Ferrari and I think the best looking. Mine will be a GTB in an unusual color with the gated shifter.
I found and bought a Ferrari 456 I found on Craigslist just north of San Diego several years ago. The price was $38,000 firm and the owners were similar to the owner of the 355. They were older and had a neighbor helping them sell the 456. I received some grainy videos and had some pictures sent to me that I wasn’t really sure weren’t just found online, but I got a cashiers check from my bank and booked a flight to San Diego and luckily it was 100% legit. I was worried it was a scam and that I was going to just be robbed but I took a chance. The owner was a 76 yr old man with his 86 yr old girlfriend and they just purchased a BMW i8 which was the 8th car they had with only a 3 car garage so they decided to sell the Ferrari. Ive now owned the 456 for about 4 1/2 years now and I was lucky I bought it when I did because the average low price for the 456 seems to be $65,000 and pristine examples are listed for over $120,000 now. I found out from the neighbor that about a month and a half after I purchased the 456 the 76 year old man I bought the 456 from passed away. I was lucky I was able to meet him and hear all the stories about the previous cars he owned.
