I really come to love these character reviews you do. It’s so much more fun to listen to than pretty much all the guides out there. The fact that you don’t just rattle down the meta relevant facts but talk a bit about the character and your relationship to them makes these always fun even for characters I don’t play myself.
Yes! Genshin has both intense combat and leisurely exploration, calm music, interacting with characters, etc. But Genshin-related media is almost exclusively in the "intense" category. Saurus's videos are the only example I can think of that, like Genshin, also have those calm and leisurely parts to balance out the intensity of combat, theory-crafting, artifact grinding, etc.
@ yeah especially in guide content you have the theory crafters who make well researched content but it’s geared towards a very invested crowd. Though I find guide makers who talk out of their ass and just hype up every character way worse. I’m tempted to block every creator that uses the word broken in all caps in their thumbnails or titles. On the other hand there are a lot of lore people who make great content that shines a light on storytelling and exploration in Genshin. One group I can highly recommend is the shade chamber. They talk about Genshin from a game design angle wich is pretty nice and not talked about too much.
I ADORE Yaoyao. She's one of the mains in my alt account. Such a great f2p option that provides sooooo much. Healing and dendro application. Amazing. Cannot hype her enough.
Yeah Baizhu is indeed an upgrade but a well built Yaoyao is still fantastic. Also the "burst takes too much field time" argument is just a myth really, all she has to do is jump and/or dash three times to fully heal the whole team, it takes less than 2 seconds, which is very reasonable.
Something else I didn't realize about Baizhu is that when he uses his burst, he essentially doubles all dendro reaction dmg assuming you have him at 50k HP. Now I understand why he's almost always married to Alhaitham.
@@awesomeperson5150 maybe i misunderstood or am bad at math, but his ascention passive: "All Things are of Earth" verbatum says - Each 1,000 Max HP that Baizhu possesses that does not exceed 50,000 will increase the Burning, Bloom, Burgeon, and Hyperbloom reaction DMG dealt [by characters who are healed by Seamless Shield] by 2%, and will increase the DMG Bonus provided by Aggravate and Spread by 0.8%. This effect lasts for 6 seconds. No mention of EM at all, but I also don't fully understand how mechanics work, and I wouldn't be surprised if hoyo were being misleading when describing this buff to make Baizhu seem more appealing as a limited 5 star
@@awesomeperson5150 In any case, my point is that this buff exists, and i'm not aware of yaoyao having such a buff. Therefore Baizhu doesn't just do her job a little better, but also does an additional job on top of being a fantastic healer/shielder.

Usually when they talk about “give X% damage” to additive/transformative damage, it’s the same as the EM multiplier. I’m not disagreeing with your point about Baizhu being good though, he is great, but not so great that every Dendro team revolves around him
I would like to say there has been a change in meta opinions on healers nowadays and this is mainly due to Furina now existing. Since Furina needs a healer to counteract her hp drain and build fanfare stacks for her massive dmg buffs, healers has become more valuable than shielders.
With Pyro MC's 1/s Burgeons, on-fielding Yaoyao is going to feel more fun than ever. It's honestly going to feel a little like what everyone wishes Klee felt like lol. Just running and jumping around with constant explosions xD
@saurusness I'm excited too. Nilou mains will be outraged but I'm going to use her tranquility aura staggered with Kokomi's jellyfish for the 1/s hydro app just so i don't have to normal attack on Yaoyao and can instead just frolick lol. It won't be strong outside of overworld like this but it's worth it for the vibes 😎
Nice review! I still use YaoYao as dendro application for Clorinde, and since I don't see myself pulling Baizhu anytime soon, she'll continue to remain valuable to my account. I think one of her best features is the fact that she doesn't rely on constellations to be useful.
From the looks of it, Yaoyao is another character that has a kit clearly meant for co-op, she wants to stay on field to do her thing but at the same time cannot dedicate herself to DPS when there's better damage dealers, in a multiplayer team she should be a powerhouse just like Dori. Also hear me out: Clamyao, all that overhealing with ult has to amount for something right?
I love yaoyao so much, I wish Hoyo would give me more cons for her!!! I probably will never pull for Baihzu because I don't want to stop using her. 🥺 excellent video as always, I even learned something new about one of my fave characters. 😊
I have a little brother and did a lot of babysitting as a youngin. Yaoyao so reminds me of one of the kids I used to look after so I genuinely use her for my bloom team over better second dendos simply because I like building her and ‘caring’ for her. She’s with Nilou Kokomi and Nahida and I adore her so much for how many times she’s helped Nahida avoid dying off field many a time. My little brother however adores Baizhu and thus when I play with him and he plays bloom with me I do notice that he definitely works a whole lot better for what Yaoyao was meant to be doing. But, she’s my little princess, and I’d find her another team if she fell out of favour like I’ve done for Lynette many a time now
@@raptori It's my go-to team. They can take down anything quickly, including hydro-resistant enemies, while being practically unkillable themselves. You could also try Ayato, Furina, Yun Jin, and Jean. However, if you're up against hydro-resistant enemies, there's not much you can do in that situation.
For dendro I use Yaoyao almost as much as Nahida. Need more copies and will likely pick her in the upcoming free choice. Then I can build the ultimate Pokemon team with Yuegui, Oz, Salon Solitaire, and TBA (either Guoba or Baron Bunny). Yan Lan can wait to later banners as I'll have two 5 stars to build before her.
very nice guide, i will try her with Furina then, but she already has her own cute chibi in Sigewinne ❤ i was aiming for C6 Heizou and Fischl on this banner but ended up getting Yaoyao C6 first. well, i finally got them all with a bonus C2 Neuvi(!!) and now I'm enjoying this "banner team" for the overworld -- only drawback is lack of claymore for mining. she's really adorable and now she's also laying claim to the Dendro gems (for Phase 6) that I've been delaying the usage of because i couldn't decide between C6 Collei or Tighnari !
well , Yao Yao is on one of my core team with Deepwood and , but none of the type as depicted here , and its the revived Burning Team with Emilie , and 2 Pyro character of choice , this double Dendro core surely shine with burning but can also function equally well as core for Hyper-Bloom or Burn-Vap-Bloom and other Dendro related reactions
Oohh, that Nilou, Candace, Nahida, Yaoyao team... I still don't have Nilou. She's more of a fun character than a "useful" one to me, so other characters always had a higher priority whenever she came around. 😅 I was planning to use her in a meme team with Nahida, Barbara and Kirara but this team you mentioned sounds good too, maybe for more "serious" battles. 🤔
I still use her in electro dendro teams where I need a healer. For the love of god add artifact loudouts please lol. Kinich and emelie are especially bad about this since he wants obsidian, she wants burning set, and then you want a deep wood somewhere on the team ideally. Drives me crazy lol
I use Yaoyao in my Emilie Burn team I run her with Deepwood so my Emilie can run Reverie also my Emilie is C1R1 so she is basically a Dendro DPS and on fielding her with c6 bennet is super fun she deals a lot of freakin dmg thanks to Yaoyao reducing the Dendro res of enemies. I do have Baizhu as well but I like him more with my Cyno-Nahida-Furina team.
I had the same experience (might be worst) with Baizhu. I have him C0R2 (unlucky pull during my bday trying to get Furina's weapon, until now I dont have her weapon in main account). But I still use Yaoyao for Nilou team (Nilou, Frag Kokomi, Yaoyao, Nahida/Dendro MC) while Baizhu for Hyperbloom team (Baizhu, Furina, Kuki/Keqing, Nahida/Alhaitham). But due to how the endgame contents of this bs game works, I cant even use them effectively anymore.
I will not pull for Baizhu sense Yaoyao exists. If I somehow get ahold of Baizhu he will be sitting at lvl 20. Yaoyao is too much of a character not to use.
I wasn't going to go for him either but i was simping for kaveh so hard, and he played hard to get, and naturally I can only rver get an early 5 star if it's a character I don't want so.. here we are 😅 But truly, yaoyao is so good there's no need to pull for baizhu!

“Doubles” is a little misleading, the multiplier on his passive is additive with the EM multiplier, so it’ll be a lot less in practice

If with enough hp and healing bonus, she can heal back a nilou with 60k full hp above, this is why she is an awesome 4* healer for me

since I dont have the sick doctor I always use her with furina and/or keqing. one of the most useful dendro character ever

I use Yao yao all the time. Shes huge with neuvillete ororon and navia theyre my best team
