I like that you guys make these videos and i know it's hard to get a pro players time but I wish there was more substance to videos like these. Keep up the good work though!
studio flat Still NO one can hit a backhand as graceful, accurate and effective as the great Ken Rosewall. Rosewall can drive, chip, lob and drop shot all using the same simple swing, and he did all that before all these new pros were born. Rosewall’s can hit his backhand to places on the court that you don’t even know it existed !
+hawaiidispenser i know right? people think tennis is easy because they saw it on TV with super high camera angle. Being at ground level watching the pro is amazing to see how godly they are.
+IamG3X Yup, video is deceptive. Even from this nice angle it still probably looked faster in person. I got a rude awakening when I started filming some of my matches and couldn't believe how slow the ball looks on video compared to real life.
you need a very precise footwork, if you want to have power, precision and especially consistency. This is why most amateurs are not able to play the single-handed backhand longline.
Haas forgot to mention about the strength needed in your forearm.. That part of the body need to be worked out a hell of a lot to have a great 1 handed backhand. Great video!
Matthew Harris I agree, but for returns of serve forearm strength is important, since there isn't much rotation involved if you want to be on the baseline and have quick compact aggresive swing of the racket.
After Sampras and Becker, Kohlschreiber is the guy right now that's worthwhile to watch and learn from. I have watched his practice videos on TH-cam numerous times and would never get bored.
No way this guy said Gasquet's backhand is one of the most beautiful. The whole reason everyone loves Federer's backhand is because it mixes efficiency and gracefulness. Gasquet's is not only horribly inefficient with lots of wasted movement, but it looks absolutely hideous.
@@beastmry I'm most certainly not. I've followed tennis for almost 20 years and almost every video or opinion i've watched says the opposite. Everyone I know agrees gasquet's is awful. You are probably French😂
this guy? this guy is one of the best players/best one handers of all time. talk to more ppl in the know, lots of ppl associate the one hander w gasquet.
@@pault5074 I've already described why I and the majority of others have said his backhand is anything but beautiful and why people like Federer's is superior in pretty much every single way. There are plenty of reasons there could be a small sample size that love him, such as liking his attitude, nationality, etc which translates into abnormally liking his playstyle. A few outliers liking it doesn't give you suddenly more credence.
I'm french and I also think gasquet's backhand is awful, way too loopy, weird backswing. But he is known as one the best one handed backhands in history and all one handed players respect him cause he's the only one that gets insane spin on a one handed backhand
Imagine wasting 20 seconds of a 2:21 video on a pointless intro. Let me tell you, ATP, not a single one of the viewers watching this video wouldn't like you to get rid of that....
@@bonafide.abhinav.moment Yeah it is just too many biased people in tennis community- it's like no matter what type of technique we're examining, people are always calling Federer the best. Sorry that just gets on my nerves.
Hass backhand is so sweet. I know it´s not a technical definition, but is the only word that comes to my mind at this moment.
Gasquet’s backhand is just magnificent to watch up close 😍
I love Tommy's one hander! It works great but it's just awesome to watch.
Smooth.

Finally a video where an ATP PRO actually giving advice on how to hit a one hand backhand.
man gasquet's backhand is just beautiful to watch
Guga’s Backhand was beautiful and letal back then

Beautiful to watch
Gugas bh was pure ugliness. You have zero clue about tennis. Watch baseball
0:48 Love this camera shot. Show's you the speed of a top pro passing you at the net. No chance.
+hawaiidispenser i know right? people think tennis is easy because they saw it on TV with super high camera angle. Being at ground level watching the pro is amazing to see how godly they are.

hawaiidispenser i filmed myself too. I thought I move pretty fast and have good footwork. Then I saw it on video and man. I look like a 3.0 guy.
+IamG3X Haha, it sucks, but at least it opened our eyes. It definitely gave me a higher goal to shoot for and I'm slowly getting there.
hawaiidispenser same.
you need a very precise footwork, if you want to have power, precision and especially consistency.

Beautiful. 1H backhands are the best. 2H is fugly.
+Philson Nice pic
+Philson Hells yeah! 1HB for life!
honestly that statement loses ground when you look at certain 2Hs, specifically, Nishikori's and Safin's
The only double hander that was not ugly was the backhand of Nalbandian
Safin's 2H is the best I have seen. Just watch 2005 AO Semi against Roger
Federer's neo backhand is the best for sure esp. against his matches with Nadal
This video is nearly 18 months old, but now surely Dominic Thiem has one of the best backhands on the tour.
Pretty ugly tho
Haas had a classic backhand.
More videos like these please! :d
Tommy was great to watch.
Great backhand Haas!
Haas forgot to mention about the strength needed in your forearm.. That part of the body need to be worked out a hell of a lot to have a great 1 handed backhand. Great video!
+samy29987 forearm strength is not a key part, its more about the rotation of the shoulders
Matthew Harris I agree, but for returns of serve forearm strength is important, since there isn't much rotation involved if you want to be on the baseline and have quick compact aggresive swing of the racket.
+samy29987 And half-volleys, it needs a lot of strength.
Sir Alexander Yea, that too. Agree
@ No they dont and thats why alot of them use the two handed.
Shapovalov, Thiem, Dimitrov, Carla Suárez Navarro.
Yes. Haas. One of the best.
He was a great player 👌
want that house...
Hello! Great video! Any info on Tommy string setup on that Prestige?
Thanks,
Edoardo
Un revés elegante junto con federer.
Elegancia.
rogers best weapond is actually the backhand slice!
he uses Head Prestige Graphene XT MP
Nice
can you please tell me what is the name of the song in the background?
Thiem, Tsitsipas, Dimitrov also have beautiful backhands imo
What about dimitrov backhand? This guy has an amazing one hander
Is it true that if you don't develop a OHB as a junior, you'll most likely won't have it as an adult?
he is handsome
He is the son in law of David Foster
Kohlschreiber???
Meh. Career whipping boy to the top 10
thats besides the point he has a great backhand
Hey CarpetBoy, what is your world ranking? ... yeah, thought so...
After Sampras and Becker, Kohlschreiber is the guy right now that's worthwhile to watch and learn from. I have watched his practice videos on TH-cam numerous times and would never get bored.
Bolleli too
Don't forget Pete Sampras and Justine henin
Sampras, Becker, and Kohlschreiber are some of the big names that Haas have forgotten about.
Edberg too obviously
Tommy Robredo has a great 1HBH.
Justin Gimelstob had a pretty good backhand too!
I don't understand a word at 0:38 "making sure that the shoulders are underneath the ???"
"underneath my chin" you can activate the english subtitles of the video (bottom right corner of the video)
thanks villy
Good video :)
Hit your one-handed backhand harder by turning it into another forehand: buffalonews.com/2018/08/24/racquet-sports-two-handed-tennis-don-mueller

Becker , Lendl, Edberg
Stayed back
Robredo??

u missed denis shapalov
Single BH is so beautiful to watch. Double BH is so ugly. Some player double handed BH is alright still no way near the beauty of single BH.
lmao the fact that this is 2 minutes long and includes the words 'master'
Stan wawrinka best
Guga Kuerten >>>> All
What tips wev've got from this video????? The title of the video is definitely misleading.

-ugh-
Why is Gimelstob here? Why is the ATP still patronising him??
Because it an ATP, one of the most misogynistic and homophobic sport associations ever.
Haas bh is better than Federer's to me.
It certainly is. Haas had a more consistent backhand judging from what I saw of him.

Very similar. I don't know why nobody sees that.
Zero tips given tho
