to this day , my favorite set up for music is still mirage with sansui , sansui AU717 Pair with Mirage m-790 , Mirage were so underrated , they are i bit hard to play if you want the full potential of the speaker . Great set up !
i had the original M1, I had them for years and since I sold them I have never been happy and listend to music as much as when I had them, piano was amazing , you listen to the music not the system, everyone though I had a grand Piano in my place, neighbours were not happy but an orchestra was amazing, bass was truly deep, highs were amazing especially fenmale vocals
the M-1 is the finest speaker you could hope to own, new in the 8's they were fantastically expensive and beyond the reach of almost everyone but the wealthy or financially insane. The best i could afford was a pair of awesome Mirage 750's
They need space to breath and open up . I have Mirage OM 6 with Plinius SA 102 pure class A and a minimum 9 feet apart and at least 3 feet from side and backwalls with a 15 foot cathedral ceiling. On your M1s ... Wow!! They sound riveting with excellently displayed micro and macro dynamics. Spectacular!! And similar to what im used to hearing. Had a chance in 1999 to purchase the M3si or OM 6 and chose the 6 for its ability to work well with class A amplifiers. The powered base module helps in allowing the direct amplifier to perform at its optimim. Great sound and speaker. Even by todays standards ive always felt the m series along with the si and om were best and timeless masterpieces! Im hanging onto my om6s and mc2 center along with my om 10 surrounds and Mirage bps 400 a 125 lb dual 12 bipolar beast of a subwoofer flanked by the very best electronics. Plinius SA amplifiers 2 102s in mono a Plinius p8 for center and Plinius sa 100 mk3 for surrounds.. Very highly rgarded amplifiers from New Zealand!!! Ill add they mate and voice exceptionally well with Mirage speakers. Transparent super and plus bicable soeaker cables Plinius m8 preamp .. Kora hermes tubed dac Magnum dynalab 102 t tuner Technics sl 1200 mk 3 Conrad Johnson met 1 6 channel tubed preamp 2 18 inch bag end subs Lovan racks and adona amp stands. Epson 4000 4k DNP or din nippon printing 120 inch supernova core 2 ambient light rejecting screen or alr for short. 3 APC s type 15 power conditioners with battery backup Its a hometheatre and stereo all in one setup. Thanks for your effort in sharing your system.
I’ve always wanted a pair of M1’s! But back in the day , I could only afford the m1090i’s. I still have them today 25 years later . I just love them and they sound every bit as good now as when I bought them . Lately I’ve gotten the itch to get new speakers but just can’t see me ever selling them and settling with something new !
I just bought two pairs of the original M1 speakers today. One pair was local and the other pair was about 2 hours away. As rare as these are, I'd say I got pretty lucky, oh, not to mention the price...$500 for the local pair and $175 for the other.I haven't hooked them up yet, but i'm pretty excited. I have been using Quad ESL 57 for a few years now and I love them, but looking forward to hearing more dynamics and weight with the M1's.
I have a pair of M7si. These speakers are unbelievably smooth and image so I just listen to the music. I am really spoiled now I don't know where to go from here. These speakers are 26 years old. They are as old as my kids!! Your sound here is fantastic, btw.
Hi there : )) We too , had M7-si's, loved em . . . BUT, when a used pair of M3-si came up for sale, we took one of our M7's into the store for a side-by-side listen. We were BLOWN AWAY by the difference - in about one minute - bought the M3-si's, and have cherished them for . . . at least 25 years now!! : ))
I don't know what you're using to record this with - but WOW! What a sound quality! I can hear everything as if I was listening to it on my system. I just subscribed to you and so glad I did! Thanks! Keep up the good work.
Ex girlfriend bought a set from a friend … 10 years later I ask, what happened to the M1 … Placed in garage and forgotten, mice got to them and tossed. Ugh, such a shame.
The worst placement for the M1s possible. Owned them when new. You won't be able to hear their full potential in this location which I'm sure you know.
So true, this setup is so that the whole system is in the video, I switch different speakers around quite a bit, when I do set them up for my own listening pleasure they are placed 16 feet apart and away from the walls

Why did you sell them?
I bet you didn’t even have to add a subwoofer

the best speakers ever produce by Mirage, they deserve the best amplifier quality and pre amp.
