    I know matte boxes. (in Neo's voice).
    Thanks for this, Caleb. Best matte box info on TH-cam.

    i really wish you'd use this intro music again... it's by far the best besides the real 'dslr video shooter intro music' haha. love it.

    I have a sigma 24-105mm f/4 which has an 82mm thread. Does this mean I would not be able to use a clamp on matte box without having extreme vignetting?

    Hello can you please help?
    I have recently bought the, "Sony FE 28-135 F4 G PZ lens", and I need an ND filter, which one should I buy? Or can I used it with a Matte Box and and ND filter? If so which one would you recommend I buy?
    I want to use the S-log2 and 3 but feel that it's very difficult to do so without an ND filter to keep out the excess light.
    Please Help

    I have a Lanparte MB-02 which is an insanely awesome matte box that I got as part of a great deal but it weights 3.64 lbs and is just way to cumbersome when I'm not shooting on a Red or Alexa. I'm trying to find one that's light enough for my Blackmagic Pocket CC rig but is trustworthy enough to hold filters

    How do you snap in and out of zoom into close ups and further away shots in this video? This is probably a really stupid question but it could also be a very easy one to answer hopefully :)

    Great show as always. I have learned so much from this channel.
    Have you ever tried, reviewing the JTZ DP30 System?

    Hi
    How can I use a matt box with my wide angle lenses that cannot take filters - they just have a push on lens cap and no means of attaching the filter system e.g. Panasonic 7-14mm micro 4/3rds on GH4?
    I enjoyed your GH4 course by the way.

      +Paul Burgess use the screw on filter threads provided by Genus...it's called the GARD DO-NUT adapter and allows you to screw on the mattebox. For the super wide lenses like the 7-14 panny, you'll want the GWMC first as it's much wider than the PV... CANNNNNN have side flags.... and takes 4x4 filters 2 stages... 1 rotating which is perfect. get the thread size of the 7-14 and screw that onto the GARD and voila! you have a sickass mattebox for the 7-14 panny

    HI Caleb. I set my dslr up with the tiffen lens filters and magnetic adapters just as you have and I've noticed heavy vignetting. Do you get the same? Also, when i put the matte box on with the tiffen filter on my lens, it isn't as secure and seems like it could fall off if hit the wrong way, risking knocking off the lens filter with it and breaking the glass. Do u have any workaround for that? Thanks

    • @dslrvideoshooter
      @dslrvideoshooter  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Frankie Figz This setup doesn't work terribly well with wide angle lenses unfortunately :-(

    • @SullyCortez
      @SullyCortez 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +DSLR Video Shooter I found if you switch to the GWMC it DOES work incredibly well with wide lenses... I drilled two 1/16th holes into the side of the GWMC after purchasing the side flags for the PV mattebox. I then drilled them out with a 2/8" bore and that was more than enough room to slip the M3 x 16 screw through the first side flag plate screw hole, through the mattebox, and into the threaded secondary Flag plate. So now I have a super wide matteboxe with side flags that does clamp on or rod based... and work with even a 14mm cooke s4i.... i know exactly

    when using a ND filter or polarizer, do you recommend using a stepup ring? if so, how much larger would you recommend going? thanks!

  • @Brownboy42069
    @Brownboy42069 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    So instead of using the Cordvision cine rings, we can just use an Xume magnetic adapter since it has the right OD? I will eventually get both but for now I only have the Xume and want to see how this works for my needs without dedicating more funds.

    • @dslrvideoshooter
      @dslrvideoshooter  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only if you aren't using a clamp on matte box. The Xume 77mm adapters won't handle the weight of the matte box with out the cordvision adapter.

    With this setup could you use the Genustech Matte Box Lite along with a circular filter for your lens?

    Can you use a mattebox with a small manual lens, for example the OM Zuikos? I have the 28mm and it's tiny. Which makes me think that a follow focus would be mandatory when using a mattebox.

    • @dslrvideoshooter
      @dslrvideoshooter  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is difficult, but possible. I've done it before but like you said, focusing becomes a chore. Thats where those filter holders are great!

    Xume is pronounced "Zoom". You can hear the pronunciation on their product videos. I realize this is only getting to you just over 5 years late. Video does need to be updated though as Genustech no longer makes the PV, and I re-stumbled on this video because I'm looking for a Mattebox in 2020.
