Sahak (tate's opponnet) was dropped by Alex Pereira in the 1st rd and still continued to pressure alex for the rest of the fight. one of the judges had Sahak winning the last two rounds of the fight as well. absolutely nothing Tate could do would stop Sahak's continued forward pressure. Homeboy was a tank. Fun fact, Sahak was ranked #1 in the world at 85kg for this fight.

You have to be really tough to effectively pull off the Dutch kickboxing style at the elite level - you're going to take a lot of shots with this high guard, close distance fighting. I guess this is why gyms in Holland are known to spar hard & often, the style they tend to use requires mental & physical toughness.
I prefer the Thai style and western boxing personally for MMA but dutch and dutch style kickboxers are the best in the world. Look at K1, like half the champions were from the Netherlands, a small country

Instead of sparring 2 times a week sparr more.
On top of that..

Running skipping
Circuit training..
I myself did 2 hours of bagwork 4-6 times a week. .
One of the best ways to develop punching stamina...
Fast results in a short space of time
Once you have punching stamina
You have sparring stamina..
Especially if you use an old school boxing bag.
Those bags move a lot
Forces you to move with the bag
Translates very well into sparring.
Modern bags r great for getting your shots off
But make you a sitting target

Though Tate landed more, Sahak forward pressure was good but I felt he missed a lot while Tate was throwing constant 3 to 4 punch combos, at the end for the announcement Tate body language showing he was spent probably gave the judges an excuse to change the score and give it to Sahak, but definitely Tate with the higher out put
He took this fight short notice & contested the decision & they forced a rematch & he KO’d the guy in the rematch
