Hiking to the Highest Point on Table Mountain | Maclear's Beacon

- This is probably one of the most popular routes up Table Mountain via Platteklip Gorge. It is by no means easy and it will definitely get the heart rate up. The elevation is about 700m in 2km so that should tell the story. We took the cable car down because we extended the route to Maclear's Beacon. The beacon is the highest point on Table Mountain at 1086m.

Garnett, research the Saddle - Knife Edge - Ledges route to Maclear's Beacon, that's far more interesting - and challenging - than Platteklip.
I’ve seen the knife edge and it looks like a great challenge, I might try it the next time I go up to the mountain 😁
@@garnettsnyman not the Devil's Peak Knife Edge starting behind the blockhouse! The Ledges hike starts on Table Mountain Road, you then work your way up to the Saddle, once you reach Saddle Rock you turn right towards Newlands Ravine, at Newlands Saddle you turn right towards Table Mountain (you can see the path on Google Earth). There's an interesting chimney, and a rock face just before you summit, not too hectic, but read up on it.
