    Absolutely right. If you're not practicing with intensity, you're not training yourself to play with intensity. Love this.

    Thanks for the video. Despite being in English, I want to share this with my kid‘s team (we live in Germany). The players all over-handle the puck so much in trying to dangle goalies that you can time their shots with an hourglass.

    Everything you're teaching is bang on, I really like the content and I think most players start with these bad habits. The only thing I would recommend is that you mention to make game situations more realistic, you should wear your gloves when training. Your grip technique changes as soon as your gloves are on as well as the physical grip on the shaft.

    • @CoachZac
      @CoachZac  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great point. I actually talk about that in other videos but you are right....gloves help make it more game specific. However, I also don't want players to use that as an excuse. Sometimes players don't have gloves with them and it's more important to train the RIGHT way without gloves than it is to skip a workout or put gloves on and make these mistakes. So it's almost like a BONUS if you have or remember to bring gloves. Great point!

    I had a habit of taking my training shots too high and in games I tended always take shots over the net.
    No I've added variations to my shooting training, for example toe drag snapshot, ground shots ect. I already have noticed the difference in game situations. You play how you train. Out

    • @CoachZac
      @CoachZac  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      100% truth, pumped you were able to recognize that and make an adjustment! Most players can't do that. It says a lot about your mindset and if you apply that to other areas of your game you'll be way ahead of where you are now in a year.

    • @CoachZac
      @CoachZac  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great, let me know how that goes. And stickhandling isn't bad, as long as it's for a purpose. Stickhandling just to setup your next shot is a bad habit. Excited to see what you notice from making that adjustment to your training.

  • @JeffreyGWang

    Hey I think its important to note that younger players under 11 shouldn't be practicing off foot shooting in stride. Shooting in stride requires a quick twitch in the forearms which younger players haven't developed. Practicing shooing with their fore arms and one foot will weaken their shot and they'll never be able to learn how to transfer their weight from one foot to the other while shooting. I think your videos are more aimed towards older players 12-13 and up

    • @CoachZac
      @CoachZac  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The can still practice it for sure. Just need to use a lighter puck or ball :)

    Well i can’t do these. I have a small hockey area where it’s like 5 feet away from where I shoot. I can’t move around and create drills. I got in trouble for trying to shoot through a door space where the pilings are, and I have an unfinished basement. Idk what to do. I cant go on the ice because I’m in Georgia and it’s very hard to. We don’t have the time to play travel so I have played house my whole life and jumped right into AA. I’ve been working out and it has been helping, but I have awful awareness, bad stickhandling because the pucks just roll (I’ve tried a green biscuit and it broke so my parents won’t get me another). I have tried multiple training on ice from multiple coaches. I am in a stuck position to the point of where I am embarrassed to even play.

    • @CoachZac
      @CoachZac  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It can help in the short term, yes your shot will improve. BUT...if you are using the incorrect shooting technique that short term improvement will end up costing you in the long run because you'll be stuck with an average shot and average shooting mechanics as you move up to higher levels.

    Where do you suggest a stick is cut, when on skates?

    • @CoachZac
      @CoachZac  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The chin is a good place to start (with skates on) and then your off-ice stick should also come up to the same spot (chin) with your skates OFF. You can make it longer/shorter depending on preference. Personally, I like my stick a little bit longer. Search my channel for stick height or how tall your stick should be and I have a video on it.

    This is good video, and I wanted to share with my team, but the repetitive plug of "access to free drills" comment thrown in the middle of the video a few times, is off putting. If it was at the end, it would have been a better video. I can't share this commercial with my team even though I AGREE with all the points.

    • @CoachZac
      @CoachZac  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya good point! Honestly, these were all suppose to be INDIVIDUAL videos for social media, and I decided I wanted to put them all together and make one video. Honestly, I complete overlooked that little call to action at the end of each segment, I 100% should have taken that out and saved it for the end. That's my bad. Share it, don't let that ruin the message. Just tell them Coach Zac apologizes for all of those little promo segments and they shouldn't sign up :) Just use the information to get better! All the best.

    • @CoachZac
      @CoachZac  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed! My accuracy needs work for sure. However, when I practice/train I shoot the puck hard as possible with a quick release as possible. That hurts accuracy for sure, and it will improve over time. Most players choose to take some power off their shot and take longer to release the puck, that just creates bad habits. Hope this helps! We all need to work on our games and get better everyday. Thanks for the comment.

      247 Hockey I never expected a response this is so cool! But I just started watching your videos yesterday and I’ve already spent like 4 hours practicing multiple drills involving shot release and puck control and I’ve already noticed improvement!

    • @alexeyorlov4573
      @alexeyorlov4573 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you take intensity over accuracy that what happens...You just throw pucks in the net. You need to work on proper shot mechanics first and thats where these '500 slow shots' help

    “Don’t stickhandle before you shoot”
    *stick handles before every shot after*

    • @CoachZac
      @CoachZac  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yup, except you aren't listening. I said don't take time to stickhandle to setup the PERFECT shot...in the example I was demonstrating the wrong way to do it. Then you watch the right way I limit my stickhandling. If you are stickhandling with a PURPOSE to create time and space or to make a move, then it makes sense. Hopefully this is helpful and you actually are hear working on your game and not just trolling.

    • @devinmizelle
