Looks like it's a nice upgrade to the V1, but still has some glitches that have to be ironed out. I've had no problems with my V1, except the time I used a sd card taken out of another drone and forgot to format it, so no footage was there. I think both cameras are basically the same quality, and can't remember what other features I have, like waypoints, etc. I rarely use those features anyway, so no big deal. Your camera you used to film this segment looks really nice, but when a gust of wind hit, it could definately be heard. Enjoyed the video and looking forward to the next series of tests.

Hi Marcus, a nice review of some of the features of the Mini V2. Other than a slight horizon issue, the drone appeared to operate properly. On the big brother X8 SE 2022, when one clicks on precision landing in the settings menu, you get a message that the Main Camera is used for precision landing. IMO most misses with Fimi precision landing is that the pilot messes with the sticks when the drone is in the RTH mode. Also, at the last instant of landing the drone automatically raises the camera which slightly moves the drone away from the center of the landing pad.

I've had the 2020 version since July 2020 and flown it in Australia and Vietnam. I've never had problems formatting an SD card and never had a compass interference warning, maybe it's just an American thing. Good to see the anomaly with the precision landing didn't arise this time. Seems like you're going to have more luck with this Mini and I really hope it turns into a good flyer for you
The camera really seemed to struggle when pointed in the direction of the sun, but video looked pretty good when you had it facing away from the sun. Much better than you last video, where it looked a little washed out. the tracking and waypoints seemed to perform well for a drone a this price range. Horizon issues persist. Great testing Marcus, and thanks for sharing.

I seriously considered it, but worried about the control loss and crashes many experienced doing fast yaw (only in manual mode, which I doubt I could even keep it airborne without lots of simulator time) Anyway I'm impressed you made the move- Avatar is designed as a "gateway drug" into FPV... Next we know you will be flying the gaps at some old steel mill, lol!

I also have a potensic dreamer I really hope that your own I'm really fascinated to return to home because it always flies back turn itself into position in the air and then land in the precise spot it left from. Discount don't even have a sensor at the bottom to even look at the ground. But I understand that it has such a strong satellite connection you can we can put this wrong right back in the same position. Well I did purchase do it pretends dreamer pro but I picked that up Saturday I'm going to see if it does the same. Because the Drone satellite connection is very incredible
I love all the options available on the little Fimi. For example, you can fly it into a tree, a pole, a car, the side of a building, the front of a building, a car. Without obstacle avoidance, the choices of things you can fly it into is almost endless! 😂
Does your car have obstacle avoidance? I hope so because if not how can you drive it without hitting the car in front of you, or a tree or your garage door or running over pedestrians. OA for drones is overrated and for the most part a crutch. Instead you should learn to fly without running into things. Only real use for OA is when you don't have control like when using follow me or tracking or the drone is in failsafe return to home. PS. I hope you have finally taken the training wheels off your tricycle?

I have every Drone DJI has released since 2019, Mini 2 (no obstacle avoidance) Mavic Air 2, Air 2S, Mavic 3 w/RC Pro (RM510), RC (RM330) and a half dozen RC-N1 's. I am ordering the Mavic 3 Pro, just as Marcus has, though i don't have a buyer for my Mavic 3 yet. I have the Fimi A3 (built in analog display in controller), X8 Mini (v1), X8SE 2018, X8SE 2020, andX8SE 2022 V2 and TX-10 Smart Controller (its really awesome for $339) I have not picked up the X8SE Pro yet - its just starting to ship - but interestingly, Fimi added obstacle avoidance to it, lol! I love my Autel Evo 2 Pro V2 & V2 Smart Controller (7.9 inch, 2000 nit display!) Autel Lite+ and Autel Nano+ I've crashed exactly 2x over several thousand flights - once with an Amazon Special (Rugo Gim) and interestingly- a Fimi Drone, nether crash having anything to do with OA. I either turn it off, or if not possible, turn the infernal beeping volume all the way down. And my car does have OA, of a sort. It's a 2007 Jaguar Suoer V8 - LWB XJR, basically or a Vanden Plas with the Suoercharged 4.2 liter V8 -with lidar based cruise control that you set the distance between you and the car you are following. I turn it off every time I start the car. If you check my TH-cam channel, I doubt you will find me discussing or using OA.

It's actually terrific that Fimi gives you everything but the kitchen sink - they don't give the sink - right? The issue I've always had with their waypoints in the app is -there is no way to change the altitude of POI's -at least not that I've ever found. And I have looked, and searched everywhere. It's pre-set to 5 meters I think. Note- now I get it. You and Ron Brown are both new FPV flyers! Thick as thieves! Something happened on that Florida trip, lol!

Video quality looks good on this little drone. Better than V1 for sure. I detected horizon tilt after takeoff but it was better after about a minute of flying. Amazing features on this mini drone given its competitive pricing against its DJI nearest rival, the Mini 2 SE (which only has 2.7k video)
That way point was cool, maybe if DJI gets wind of this they will add this to our Mini 3 Pro because I know it would be able if they would. This is a pretty cool Drone. Does it have zoom, it kinda looked like 2.7k or like it was zoomed in a bit even tho it said 4k 30. This would make a great 1st drone for someone or a good non-DJI alternative for the advanced guy. Will a 11 inch tablet fit between controller or at least a 8 inch if not?
If I could find this drone for the $299 you've mentioned, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. But the prices I've seen are nowhere close to that. I followed your affiliate link and saw it listed at $534, with the inclusion of an SD card.
My v2 is only a few weeks old, and it has horizon tilt and I was most upset at fimi, I just did a simple circle of my local playspace and then went up and shot the city in the distance, horizon was awful, on viewing the footage about 4 times on my big tv I noticed something, the horizon was like 22 degrees off, but the light poles, trees and buildings were not... I decided it must be an optical illusion...
Hi bro I fimi x8 mini drone V2 my issues that I have are except tracking follow me the rest don't work. I'm using Xiaomi Redmi note 8 Pro android. Apart from that it performs extremely nice. Good work brother stay blessed and safe all the time Amen
Yes the X8 Mini - the little engine that could.. but Fimi just strangled the programming and History is repeating itself. It will take 4-5 firmware updates before confidence will return. But remember.. It's a "Toy Drone".. not a professional piece of kit. This version has glitches that the V1 did not and as always.. one step forward.. three steps back!
Considering all the features it has and the video quality it looks like a great little drone for the money!

I've owned a lot of Fimi drones Richard. They're priced right, but every one that I've ever owned has had a few problems. 🙂

i live in the NW of Ireland where it can be windy so would this thing be any good for going on hiking trips into the mountains?
You will not want any Mini drone for windy conditions. You may want to llok at the DJI Air 3 or Air 2.

Yeah. no way a tablet will fit in the mini controller. The iPhone works okay though.

Can the camera angle be controlled at all during waypoint flight....either manually or programmatically..... or is the only option straight ahead?
You can set a point of interest that the drone will keep the camera on.
