Dude yes. I had a teacher that I liked, and because I'm quiet he asked me to solve a formula. Im shit at this class, and I could feel my anxiety rising throughout the morning. He was insistent that I solve it and everyone was staring. I got out of it, but then I had to go into the hall because I started having a massive anxiety attack. I had to leave school because I couldn't stop crying and shaking.
Gosh I hate first year teachers, they’re so committed to the “school rules”. I literally came to class 2 minutes late from coming from the vending machine and she says, “go back and get a pass.”.....made me want to disrespect a teacher for the first time

I wasnt good at highschool and i wasnt succesfull at any science class or class that includes numbers but i remember there was a girl (who is in uni now for being a doctor) we were in chemistry class and i was listening and understanding what teacher was talking about but she was literally asking question EVERY MINUTE. I remember I was one of the smart kids when I was younger, the gifted and talented program broke me and I cried when whenever I would do anything in it. They treated me like a highschooler when I was in elementary. Soon after they kick me out if the program I got bullied harshly and stopped focusing on everything and just sat in my room playing minecraft. And that's the story on how I became the dumbass in school....all because of the gifted and talented program........and a kid named Justin who bullied me. :)

If you're in Uni studying something you are passionate about, rather than what people around you expect you to learn, or because you believe you need to make a career out of that which you study, you'll have a good time.
I'm not talking about going out and partying either. Not everyone likes that stuff, me included.
If you're an extravert, you'll have no problems making friends and partying all you want with nobody really telling you what to do. And if you're an introvert, well, most people will leave you alone (read: most!) and will be polite. They're adults after all, and none of you are forced to be there (unless a specific class has mandatory physical attendance, of course). Not to mention that all of the idiotic teen drama that rational people don't care about is all mostly gone.
I'm not saying it's sunshine and flowers but I despised high school with a burning hatred and loved University just for the fact I got to learn what I was truly interested in.
Only thing I hated was noisy neighbours thinking it's ok to party through the night in a residential area during weekdays. But if you can take public transportation to get to class, that's not a problem.

Ik original comment didn't specify, I was speaking generally. A "gifted" friend of mine went on about the same thing, and I've seen videos on it. The issue is valid, but also mental illness isn't unique to a certain sect. The way some people talk about it just really bugs me. It's like they see it as another way to win 'special points'

The only thing I remember about high school is that one week in winter when all my classmates went on a trip and my friends and I didn't want to pay for it so we stayed and the teachers didn't give us homework and just let us be all week long it was BLISS. That and the time the math teacher brought a tv into the classroom to watch the football game in the world cup 2014 and my classmates made so much noise that a teacher from the elementary school in the floor below came to yell at us...

nobody is disgusted by the idea of studying and learning, it's that the way these learning institutions are structured is not conductive to those two things, especially for mental ill or otherwise neurodivergent students.
going to 40+ minute lectures on topics you don't care about that much is not going to teach you anything, not like spending a day studying a topic you care about will. and when you're neurodivergent on top of that the whole thing feels like hell. it values grades more than actual learning or skill and all the expectation and the insane workload and the people you hate and etc. piles up. it's never about not trying hard enough, it's about the people in your life - the adults, the ones who were supposed to help you and get you through this and prepare you for the world - failing you. utterly, completely failing you.
the curriculum is aimed at the middle of the bunch. the advanced students are bored to death and the struggling ones are left in the wake. try and have a little empathy for the kids that no one sees.

Im kidding! But it's good to be reminded of how other people struggle- I had my own issues in school and I didn't fully understand other people's issues. I thought people without mental illness were living the high life, but now that I'm oLdEr AnD wIsEr I know that everybody is lucky and unlucky in their own way. Yes that guy may be popular, but he really struggles keeping his grades up. Yes that girl may be pretty and rich but her home life is horrible. You should never discount someone's experiences just because they are different than yours
Obvious I know but I feel like we're all kinda psychopathic in middle and high school lol. Everyone's so wrapped up in their own life that they don't pay attention to the world around them. That's not good, obviously, but we all (most of us) grow out of it. Don't judge a teenager too harshly for being a self-centered brat!

I will never understand people who say high school is the best years of your life.
I despise how teachers, instead of helping students improve in their learning, try to catch them out in topics when they're falling behind
I'm in my second year of high school and failing all of my classes. I have two more years and them I'm joining the homeless people under the highway. I can go to hell and all, but I ain't getting into massive debt only to get entry level jobs.
