I totally understand that this was a wish load from a Patreon, and can tell by your comments that you also believe it is overkill. That would be his fur geese out to 120 yards, if choked correctly. Could save a lot on money by going to #7 tss with #5 steel on top, 50/50.
I got a question about Steven’s 301 410 shotgun and your the most qualified person to answer it! I got this new shotgun I mentioned before for my son as Christmas gift last weekend we shot 25 shells of Winchester AA target load 2 1/2 threw it 21 hulls split from the side top to bottom till the brass first guess oversized chumber iam a conventional machinist I got measuring tools I measure it .410 3 inch chumber at the start it’s .482 at the bottom around .466 or .467 thousand seems ok to me size wise compared to the spec I got from the internet !! Did you have any thing like that happen before ? And how much over size a .410 chumber should be to considered defected ? Thanks
@@aymanitani4212 Your chamber is fine, sometimes hulls are just bad. AA’s are known to split like that occasionally. If it was an older box in the original Compression formed hulls they’re likely just a little dry rotted.
I'm guessing a modified choke in the patterning gun will be too tight at 40 yds. You might want to try also an IC tube. I've been given to believe the shot size factor for TSS to lead was 4, i.e. #9 TSS = #5 lead. Where are you getting a 5 factor? Not that it would make a lot of difference to a duck.
@@paulwylie989 that’s just what I’ve always heard. With a tss 5, you could theoretically shoot geese pretty far away. A modified might be the way to go for long range shots but inside 40 I’m also gonna say it’s gonna be on the right side. Not a turkey pattern but a nice even 30” spread will be my guess.
The Pardner pump is 28” barrel either guns are hunting style shotguns. The 835 is far far more geared towards waterfowl though but some people don’t like the 10 gauge bore they have.
Pattern test is coming soon. Should we use the 835 with a kicks MOD high flyer or the H&R Pardner pump with its MOD choke?

I’d do 1 ounce steel B and 3/8 ounce of tss 7

835 would be a more real world scenario for that type of load / hunting not home defense
