@@HeroesReforged Desperate. I’m not saying RDJ can’t play Doom, ofc he can he’s a phenomenal actor. I just think there’s a lot of actors who can be THE Dr. Doom in the mcu and can portray the character for a long run.
I'm really apprehensive about it. I don't like the idea of RDJ being a Stark variant that becomes Doctor Doom, but they say it's Victor, so maybe he just never takes the mask off like in the canon - but then why go through the time, IMMENSE money, and confusion to have RDJ return when you could give that role to so, so many different actors? It doesn't make sense unless Victor is a Stark variant, and that would, frankly, be crap. On paper, at least.
Ok a few thoughts from a “normal” fan lol (but with a comic book nerd husband). All the “baggage” that comes with this character IS why it’s amazing. The chaos and drama it could potentially bring on screen - depending on whether he’s a variant or new character. You can always redo the Dr Doom storyline down the line, however, we won’t ever again have this character w/10+ years worth of“baggage” which I interpret more as history. For example, Thanos was teased for yearssss. We knew he was the big bad, he kept coming up and finally we met him and it was earned. They were kind of aiming to do that with Kang having him pop up in so many different stories but we saw how that ended. So it wouldn’t be the same with someone new to the MCU, Murphy or Bardem, who would be around for 2 movies and the end. But w/ RDJ/Tony we know his face. It’s complicated, we’re conflicted. Our beloved hero, now the villain? There is gravitas. I mean wow just think of the possibilities! Also we’re not giving him credit, we don’t know what he’s gonna bring to the table, but we know he can. He’s proven it on other movies. As far as I see it, it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity that this can be done and I couldn’t be happier. Also, the characters you mentioned like Namor, Sam, etc., just cause they’re new and constant, doesn’t make them great. Honestly I’d already completely forgotten about Namor. And to everyone saying this is a desperate move, I say I am thankful Marvel was humble enough to be like we have to rethink this, what we’ve been doing hasn’t worked. What could be a great way to REALLY show off the multiverse vs some meaningless 5 minute cameos? Just cause it seems desperate doesn’t mean it’s a bad choice nor that it won’t be amazing. I’m excited! As far as what does this mean, is he a variant, or superior Iron man, or whichever - I’m not well versed on the comics - man I don’t know and I don’t care yet - 2 years from now we will find out. But again this is coming from a normal Marvel fan who has been following alllll the comic book movies since Spider-Man and X-men.
@@azafi69 😂😂😂 I really like their reaction videos, and now I’m laughing at this lol. I hope they make one where they’re all a variant of a made up character while reacting to the next MCU movie (or show).
There's a new series on HBO where Robert Downey Jr plays three separate characters and also remember that Robert Downey Jr played the dude playing a dude playing another dude.
@@AllGreyEverything That's only because he's doing the nutty professor thing in one series. I'm just saying he can play a significantly different role from film to film and not be seen as the same person. You have great actors like Jack Nicholson or Denzel Washington who are the best at coming off real in any situation but Robert is one of those actors who can literally change their whole demeanor and be seem as someone else. Would I rather the road go to someone else, yes. I just don't want to see Tony Stark as Dr Doom. We may only hear his voice and only see him in the mask.
It would be cool if they utilize that mind-fuckery of having Iron Man’s face as Doctor Doom. The image of the sacred timeline’s greatest hero being used as the multiverse’s greatest threat is weird, but inherently dramatic. Imagine what Spider-Man would think while having to fight him. It’s all very odd, but I trust the story team to really sell it.
The way the Russos were talking about what actually brought them back, I feel like that had to have been a big hook/selling point for them the mind fuck of Tony's face on Victor and the ramifications of that in the main universe.
This gives me similar vibes and gravitas to the comic World War Hulk, the Avengers and the world finding themselves on the opposite side of a great hero turned villain. Or at least someone who shares the same face as their heroic friend and possesses all their talents, abilities and maybe even more?
It sure as hell not Earth-616 Doom. It wouldn't be possible since Iron Man is from that same universe. Expect a different actor to play Doom for Earth-616 (crossing fingers its either Cilian Murphy or Javier Bardem) RDJ on the other hand will obviously be a variant.
@@JoshieboyStudios but if that does happen it still dilutes the introduction of a “real” doom. I’ll try to wait till the movies come out before judging but it still feels odd.
Ok wait, I think I got it. RDJ will play VVD who's alive in the 60s and who looks a bit like Tony Stark but they will do something to make him look different (no beard, etc). So this VVD to Tony will be what Victor Timely was to Kang. In this case they don't even need to change their whole scripts and plans that much
This is genius level casting....Infamous Iron man or Iron Doom makes Secret Wars what it should be..Plus this way it actually glorifies Tony's sacrifice even more in Endgame while having RDJ be a multiversal being which can tie up to everything else. Comic book dreams come true !
Being a big time Heath Ledger hater when he was first announced as the joker has humbled me. Marvel has earned our trust. RDJ and the Russos have never made a bad marvel movie. I feel like we gotta trust on this one. Let them cook.
I’m not saying the two situations are the same, guys. I’m saying that being confidently, loudly wrong online (like I was when I hated on Ledger’s casting initially) humbled me. We have absolutely no reason to doubt the Russos or RDJ in the MCU, and there’s no reason not to think that the story that brought them back must be compelling. It’s not like any of them need the boatloads of money. They’re not going to risk sullying their reps in the MCU for anything that’s not good.
If RDJ performance as Victor Von Doom is as much of a transformation as Heath Ledger's Joker, then I can honestly see RDJ being the new Doctor Doom not just for one Avengers film but new Doctor Doom moving forward. But that may not be their plans for RDJ.
I really don’t see the problem. Rdj is clearly playing a variant of Tony. This is the multiverse saga. I was suprised but im not gonna jump on the usual internet bandwagon.
I also feel weird about the casting. Feels like a setup for Doom to be a variant, with maybe a secret other Doom to be revealed? So many capable great actors could take the role, and RDJ? Crazy how Kang is now ended, instead of recast.
That’s what I’m thinking. Maybe he will be a variant of doom and not god emperor doom. Even being the main villain of a multiverse story after this story arc he’ll be recasted and we’ll have a new doom for the mcu going forward
Yeah, I hope they still recast Kang, I hope they are not dropping the character altogether because fans exaggerated his defeat in Ant-man 3. Scott was nearly beaten to death by Kang but somehow his still considered a weak character.
You could be onto something, with the Russo Bros returning for Secret Wars i get the feeling we are getting a 1984 Secret Wars adaptation with 2015 being scrapped or somehow integrated in. @@Ant1992_
Yeah I’m hoping it’s this too. Maybe in secret wars or even an end credits in fantastic 4 we’ll see if there is a “real” Doom of the MCU. Downey as our one and only Doctor Doom feels really weird
They did say it was the Multiverse it's not supposed to make sense. As Dr Strange said, ' The multiverse is a concept about which we know so frighteningly little.'
@@wendzbrand You two have my exact thoughts when I saw all the complaints, "It's the Russos, let them cook" obviously they aren't just going to have RDJ come back and be Dr Doom for multiple movies, they're just using his name and creating hype to get attention and I really think he will only be in the movie for a short minute before they reveal the "Real" Doom who kills him and takes his place, or something like that. Some kind of situation where he's a variant and the other Doom kills him, "There can only be one Victor Von Doom."
This is exactly how I felt. I was shocked & happy to see RDJ back & then I instantly went to …..wait, what? 😂 I have faith that it will end up being amazing!
Homies! I was in Hall H with you and felt that insane roar when RDJ was revealed. It was a magical moment followed by how is this possible? It ended so abruptly everyone was in disbelief and in shock. But it did exactly what Feige wanted it to do, made everyone so interested and excited to see how this Avengers movie plays out! If they would have just announced Colman Domingo as the new Kang, we would have been like , that’s nice, can’t wait for Secret Wars. Instead this stunt is building hype and re-energizing this film and the MCU as a whole. I’m down to see where this “What If” Dr.Doom variant story goes. With all that said, I agree Javier Bardem as Doom would be Top Tier casting!
That’s not how it happens in the comics. In the comics Dr Doom because prime, or whatever they call him, and he is the constant Dr Doom that retains the memories once the world resets.
@@SlyDoctorKH of course there's gonna be a VVD on 616!!! Marvel Studios needs that character, millions of cómics readers love him. The thing is that the "Multiverse Saga" It's just a mean to an and, a way to add all the characters an d the lore of mutants, fantastic 4 and so many more, now that Disney has the cinematic rights .
I truly believe that this is THE SMARTEST MOVE that Marvel could have made at this point in time. I'm sorry for the Comic Book fans that understand who Dr Doom really is, but for the regular MCU fan that does not read Comic Books, it makes the MOST sense to close the Multiverse Saga with the main villain being a variant of the Main hero from the Infinity Saga...,. It's the Ultimate multiverse possibility. Especially considering that the Multiverse feels so disconnected, and you need a connecting thread to build a new Avengers Team... The first Avengers brought back Loki, now the New first Avengers of the Multiverse will bring back a variant of Tony Stark as the villain... Also, Kang showed us that he could be both "He who remains" AND Victor Timely at the same time, which were variants but two completely different characters, from different time eras, and different back history, but still variants.... This means, we RDJ can still play Victor Von Doom with his own back story, with Victor as his birth name, from a different time era.... and still be a variant. RDJ will not play this character like another Tony Stark, because he's not... But you have to look at it from the perspective of the simple fan, like me... I know Of Dr Doom, but mostly from previous failed Fantastic 4 projects. Anyway, worst case scenario is that RDJ plays a DOOM from another universe for these movies, and later in the future they bring a proper Dr Doom from our own universe played by a different actor. Either way, I think this move may seem "desperate", but really it's Genius!
I’m surprised Hector doesn’t know where this comes from or where it’s going. If you think about the line , "You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain." from the dark knight, RDJ said he was done, went out on a high note and walked away. Marvel went back to him and said, how would you like to do it all over but play “the” villain of all villains and he said let’s do this. It’s delicious from an actors stand point and the secret wars story makes a variant possible. This comes right from a What If comic, something happens on an earth where all of the Avengers fall but Tony and it breaks him and he goes to extremes to make sure it never happens again, he goes insane with power and he becomes Doom in Armor, find this comic and it will all make sense. This Doom gets pulled into Secret Wars and no one knows it’s Tony and when they find out it’s too late by the time they realize it’s not the Tony they knew, he’s a villain and they are Doomed 😬.
marvel absolutely knew how this announcement would cause reactions all across the board. They must have a good story reason for making this bold and controversial decision. I need to know more.. but I think it’s not so cut and dry and just meant to build hype
What about the comic run where Tony Start was Doom? Doing that for just these two movies, he dies, the MCU gets soft re-booted after Secret Wars, and a new up and coming actor plays the future Doom?
Rdj as a variant or doom wearing Tonys face.. either way I'm all for it. Maybe it'll allow rdj to flex some acting muscles even more then before. I'm all for it
Just like Hugh coming back as Wolverine, I can't fathom RDJ would agree to this if it wasn't going to be absolutely worth it in the end. Wolverine was absolutely worth the return.
This is actually genius casting when you consider the multitude of ways they can play with the multiverse versions of Iron Man and Doctor Doom. I personally love this casting, it's smart imo.
It just doesn't seem right to me. Maybe he'll be a fantastic villain, but not only am I used to him as Iron Man (yes I know there's variants and that can be cool) but I was expecting someone new, maybe even someone like Cillian Murphy or something. And I still hope we get a recasted Kang because the character has potential so one real life actor shouldn't have to change that in my opinion 🤷🏼♂️
5:09 No. Because that's only if every character sees Doom without his mask. They won't. Few will. And it'll only happen in one or two instances with them all in the room. So we'll only have to put up with "You look like Tony Stark", maybe twice.
My guess is that "Dr Doom" will be the royal title in Latveria, so that any person on the throne will be Dr Doom. RDJ's Dr Doom will likely be the father of the eventual Victor Von Doom.
Doom is a character that is notorious for having alternate versions, clones and robots and variants. I get people's confusion but I see the vision. Especially if they are going to do the most recent secret wars storyline cause that story ended with the soft reboot of the universe. They're probably gonna throw all the paint at the wall, have a big giant comic book fan service event and then start from scratch again.
I realllly hope Rdj is not playing other variant of Victor Doom but INSTEAD, a variant of Tony Stark who's breaking bad. Think about it. Evil Tony Stark is just a HUGE threat. AND, who's gonna be the best villain for Mr Fantastic? Another smartest man on the planet. This at least has TONS of story potential. Im excited.
Another youtuber said that there is a comic called Demon in an Armour where Victor Von Doom and Tony Stark are room mates and Von Doom did a mind swap wth Stark and took over his body. This would be how they explain why Von Doom looks like RDJ/Tony Stark. I am so excited to see how they do this.
I’m looking at this casting through the lense of RDJ’s performance in Oppenheimer. I’m hoping this is a role he took because it will allow him to truly transform and become this larger than life villain. From voice, to prosthetic makeup for Doom’s burned/damaged face, to the armor.
It’s a very long time ago but as I remember Doom was introduced in his armor, mysterious and inscrutable. The previous FF4s gave us the intertwined with Reed origin story. But that was a later twist and a retcon later on in the comics.
Hector mentioned that in the movie some of the heroes might point out that RDJ Doom looks like their Tony Stark and I wonder if that will be major plot point since Doom would definitely use the fact he look like another world's Ironman/Tony to his advantage.
I think the issue with approaching Doom's character in this film as "Well, it's a multiverse variant so we can just introduce the main timeline version later!" is... how do you raise the stakes of his character after he (most likely) becomes essentially the arbiter of the remnant multiverse in Secret Wars? They're introducing Doom at the absolute height of his power, and as far as the comics go, during one of his most impactful conclusions. And considering the Russo brothers' introduction to Doom in this conference, I'm assuming that we're receiving an adaptation of his role in the 2015 Secret Wars comic...but the impact and climax of his presence in that comic is both his and Reed's journey leading up to the story, the result of their continual clash. How are they going to achieve that level of climatic conclusion when Reed is due to be introduced only two films prior and Doom only one film prior? It just feels like this character is being set up to be a massively hollow "epic big bad" figure-- which is obviously a result of the somewhat sudden Kang-Majors situation. It's possible to pull all of this off...but I have serious doubts. Unfortunately, I do genuinely believe that Marvel executives sat around a table and asked themselves, "How do we get people to tune into this movie when almost everything we've set up so far has either fallen apart or been poorly received?" And their answer was: "Bring in fan-favorite Doctor Doom played by fan-favorite Robert Downey Jr.", which is the kind of passionless approach that I think has plagued the MCU in recent years and might damage Doomsday/Secret Wars.
THIS!!! Its one of the reasons I can't get on board with this. Its like they are catering to only one part of the fandom with this casting. I know a lot of casual fans (those who watch the movies but don't really follow comics) that are really turned off by this.
I think Marvel are still hiding something ... same as they hided RDJ cast. + The new idea of secret wars is to reset the MCU ... so it's Ok , they all will be recasted in 2027. So I think its like saying goodbye to some old cast , and for sure now Hugh Jackman and Tobey are coming back in SW.
YOU NAILED IT. The major concern is that this is throwaway just for secret wars which is something the russos always wanted and that after that we never see Victor Von Doom as recurring villain character that is the most complex in all of marvel comics. THIS CAN"T be a one off or two off of the CHARACTER. I Completely agree here.
I'm nervous that Marvel may be too reactionary after Majors situation and Ant-Man 3 didn't do as well as they wanted it to. I hope they aren't dropping the Kang character all together because fans exaggerated his defeat in Ant-Man 3.
It feels like they needed a new arch villain, but didn't want to do a 15 year criminal background check / Social Media search for problematic tweets. It feels like they panicked. I hope it works out.
There are rumors from some insiders that RDJ will also play Iron Man. RDJ is playing both, and Doom vs Iron Man will happen in the new Avengers movies.
For those wondering why did they go with RDJ? They had to ditch Kang because the actor Jonathan Majors got into trouble with the law. They didn't have the time to set up Doom the way they were trying to do with Kang. Using a familiar actor helps with this. They were getting a lot of bad press in the past year. They went with a safe bet that would get attention with the return of a reliable actor and the Russo Brothers directing.
What if they give him the penguin treatment? And give him so many prosthetics that RDJ is virtually unrecognizable? Could be pretty cool maybe . He has the acting chops to pull it off if we arent distracted w him looking like Stark.
My zero evidence crackpot theory is that RDJ Doom will be nearly victorious over the Avengers only to be instantly killed off by actual DOOM, instilling real fear in the protagonists and setting up the future storyline. Actual DOOM hits RDJ Doom with a “FOOL! DOOM HAS NO EQUALS!!” or some other ridiculous DOOMism. Honestly whatever happens, all the chips are down, it’s going to be a wild ride. They’d better bring back Markus and McFeely, too.
What if, the smartest guy on the planet never got to the cave to became ironman, and in the parallel dimension became the guy that wants to rule the world? Dr Doom
This version of Doom is going to be a What If? storyline. What if Tony Stark was evil? RDJ as Doom makes sense within the multiverse but they really need to introduce Victor Von Doom.
It's Doom from another universe, as many have said, it's a variant of Iron Man turns Dr. Doom, so I'm sure we will still get another actor as Dr. Doom from the main universe, hoping it would be Cillian Murphy.
So glad you guys are not eating this up as every other content creator did without questioning. It's Victor Von Doom / Dr Doom just like Tony Stark / Iron Man. They're not interchangeable
"We'll save Hectors thoughts for last..." Hector: "So anyways, here is my thoughts on the matter..." 😂😂 But yea, I'm a bit ambivalent about this decision.
Probably a mixture of Infamous Iron Man (2016) and What If? Demon In An Armor (2011). Both Amazing stories!!!! Imagine The Watcher saying Not What If? but What IS!
I dunno if this has happened before, but I wonder how the characters will react if/when they see RDJ Doom's face. Like will they suddenly just not recognize it's Tony's face and go "who the hell?", or will they actually recognize the Tony face and wonder "Why/How?"
My hunch is that Tony Stark is Doom in a universe where he used his time traveling abilities for evil instead of saving his universe. As a Kang replacement, it makes sense
Apparently, he uses magic in the comics (tony). and it's turns him evil and does the alternative path of doom. I believe something like that. But I'm 💯 this actually happens in the comics wear iron-man becomes doom
They said he was playing "victor von doom" specifically. Not a doom variant. I imagined variant of howard stark moves to eastern europe during the war to work on weapons. A bucky variant of cap america ends up killing starks mom and howard named his son Victor instead of anthony. Victor ends up growing up in eastern europe / latveria and hating america / the west.....something something..... ends up being evil. OR ... They could load RDJ up w prosthetics like penguin so he doesnt even look the same.
@@stevenredmond4347 Oh you’re right. I like your theory. But I think having Doom look like Tony will make it even harder emotionally for the Avengers and the audience to go against him.
I think the MCU right now is playing in the multiverse toybox. Getting everything out of their system so they can really focus in on the main MCU 'sacred timeline' stories.
Theres a Iron Man that becomes Doom and turns evil and Im really excited to see this. I was hoping before P4 started that it would be Doom as the big villain, but Id still like to see them recast and attempt to at least write a movie with Kang that has good character driven writing.
Produce Endgame. World goes nuts. Produce a string of shows and films with confidence in diverse storytelling. World turns its back. Panic and recycle everything that once worked. World claps like monkeys. Geeks like us: We were really happy with the confidence, diverse storytelling - no? Nope? Okay, never mind. Yay Deadpool.
There is an alternate universe Anthony Stark that adopts the Victor von Doom alias and becomes Dr Doom instead of Iron Man. There is also a Superior Iron Man comic where Victor becomes Iron Man while Tony is in a coma. There is precedent
Don’t stress boys , secret wars will reboot everything and we’ll have a new Ironman cap Blackwidow ,everybody will be recast and we’ll have all the characters to play with from the very beginning , I believe they’ll own Spider-Man when that time comes too
What if Infamous Iron Man Tony Stark (which we should assume this is) invades our MCU universe as Doom, DOES cause a lot of issues with our heroes trying to take down a Tony Stark, and then influences a Victor Von Doom to take up the mantle in the MCU universe moving forward.
I love it! It make sense to me RDJ is in just two Avengers BIG MOVIES and this is it. I want a whole new actor to play Dr. Doom in our NEW sacred timeline in the MCU after these events of Secret Wars when making a new universe with ALL MARVEL OWNED CHARACTERS IN ONE WORLD. Thank you guys for saying the thoughts I was also thinking RDJ can be from a WHOLE another universe
All of you echo my thoughts on the announcement perfectly. I'm gonna reserve judgement until we see context in the films but I'm not hyped by it either. I'm at the "hmmm inteerrestingggg!" Stage lol
I think the reason I’m more okay with this than I would have been like two years ago is because RDJ has been killing it recently with Oppenheimer and especially The Sympathizer. I believe in the dude playing a dude playing another dude.
I think the only way that this works, is that we never see RDJ's face. Which would work, because Doom is never without his mask. But the moment we see RDJ's face behind the mask, the suspension of disbelief is out the window.
I'm stoked for RDJ as Doom. Personally I still want Matt Berry, but I knew that would never happen. I am very interested in how they play it, and I trust the Russos and RDJ. I'm here for it.
I completely agree with Adam. I think it's super likely that this isn't THE Doom. This is probably some variant who, granted, is going to be a major player in Doomsday itself, but I feel like they're just playing into the confusion of it all and the actual MCU Doom will be revealed outside of that.
In a Universe Iron-Man loses against Thanos, and succesfully destroys the whole universe completely rebooting it with everyone except Tony forgetting everything, he turns to dark arts and the power of mystic to bring back how things were. But in the process he loses his insanity, and falls victim to the chaos of becoming Doctor Doom. This maybe even be overly exaggerated where they pull a Galactus from the comics, where before the universe was reset he was just some normal guy. Or maybe, they are using RDJ as the face of Doctor Doom, but are still planning to do some Kang Dynasty elements and secretly introduce the MAIN Doctor Doom, with this being just a clever cover up.
I think Doom will actually be someone else, and RDJ is gonna be a Alt Universe Stark being used as a stalking horse / stand in for Doom to confuse Avengers.
Love RDJ and the future of MCU seems brighter than ever…but I was kind of like eh. I was hoping for another actor but this is still great! It makes sense in the multiverse saga. I’m excited.
I'm not all that jazzed about this either. However I'm going to fully give it a chance & keep an open mind over these next 2 years. What does have me low-key excited despite my current displeasure is the fact that Robert Downey Jr must have had a good reason to come back & accept this role. The man definitely doesn't need the money, so a quick money grab is off the table. While his first few projects post-Endgame weren't great, he's currently been on fire & just won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for Oppenheimer, so he's not looking for another big hit role to revive his career. He said at Comicon he loves playing complicated characters, so he must have loved whatever Marvel/The Russos pitched to him about the role & movies. If it wasn't great or at the least extremely interesting he could have easily declined & no one would've been the wiser & news of him even being offered the role of Dr. Doom would be rumors at best. So if RDJ loves what he sees I feel good that eventually they'll win me over fully. Right now I still don't feel great about him playing anyone but Tony Stark in the MCU but like I said, there's evidence that I may end up loving this when it's all said and done
RDJ as Doom reads as Fiege and Marvel waving the white flag. It feels like a (to me, very unnecessary and untrue) admission that their best work is behind them. I found the rest of the presentation pretty solid, but this news is a *massive* bummer to me.
They’re clearly gonna do the version from the comics where Doom takes over Stark’s body. I doubt it’ll be exactly like the comics but the inspiration is right there
Also, i think the "baggage" with RDJ playing Doom is GREAT. The audience should struggle with loving and hating Doom. They should feel betrayed as they see Tony Stark's face doing crazy villainous things. They should think "this feels wrong." All of that is helpful in my mind. (And I'm a comic book nerd whose favorite Marvel villain has been Doom for 30 years.)
I can get what Hector is saying about the type of fan and how they not think the same way about the news, but this was announced at SDCC, i think most of the audience is that type of fan that would have the same reaction he did. My reaction was also mixed between surprise, joy and confusion. I think that's the point though, it has to be that obvious to Kevin feige that this would be the reaction and i don't believe him and the Russos would have him back if they weren't going to do it in a way that makes sense, which isn't having him be THE 616 Doom permanently. My initial theory is that Doomsday is called that because we will see multiple Dr Dooms in that movie, RDJ is just one of them. So weird that they would reveal that this early but also makes sense for publicity.
Huge Doom fan, I loved this, in comics Doom was Iron Man and weaving in a character in the Mcu who has intellect to rival Reed Richards, I'm sorry this is kismet, perfect

Wow, you went to SDCC without seeing Deadpool & Wolverine first?! That's wild. Hope it didn't get spoiled for you
Exactly. I thought they already seen it. Tik Tok, Reddit, and a few other apps are spoiler infected right now
Yeah bad move ! Lol
Especially since Marvel showed it there and brought out cameos
Right?? 😂
Spoiled 💯
First thing i thought when i saw the news when i woke up 30 mins ago was, "OK, this is a Doctor Doom from another universe."
Yes, the infamous iron man Dr doom
It would be cool if they utilize that mind-fuckery of having Iron Man’s face as Doctor Doom. The image of the sacred timeline’s greatest hero being used as the multiverse’s greatest threat is weird, but inherently dramatic. Imagine what Spider-Man would think while having to fight him. It’s all very odd, but I trust the story team to really sell it.
The way the Russos were talking about what actually brought them back, I feel like that had to have been a big hook/selling point for them the mind fuck of Tony's face on Victor and the ramifications of that in the main universe.
Doesn't matter whether we trust them or not, they're doing it, we have no choice but to see what they do with that
What if we just don’t see his face at all and he just wears the mask and delivery is not that of his normal cadence?
It would be cool if they did that but we all know they’re not smart enough to do so.
This gives me similar vibes and gravitas to the comic World War Hulk, the Avengers and the world finding themselves on the opposite side of a great hero turned villain. Or at least someone who shares the same face as their heroic friend and possesses all their talents, abilities and maybe even more?
I’m willing to bet RDJ’s Doom is only for the multiverse saga and we get a soft reboot after Secret Wars
Guaranteed this casting is more than what we are obviously thinking. Everyone just relax, breathe, and let them cook.
Ok wait, I think I got it. RDJ will play VVD who's alive in the 60s and who looks a bit like Tony Stark but they will do something to make him look different (no beard, etc). So this VVD to Tony will be what Victor Timely was to Kang. In this case they don't even need to change their whole scripts and plans that much
People seem to forget Victor has a disfigured face under his mask.
So we won't see RDJ's face when his in armor.
This is genius level casting....Infamous Iron man or Iron Doom makes Secret Wars what it should be..Plus this way it actually glorifies Tony's sacrifice even more in Endgame while having RDJ be a multiversal being which can tie up to everything else. Comic book dreams come true !
Robert Jr is Doctor Doom is back is AMAZING, AMAZING❤❤❤❤❤
Being a big time Heath Ledger hater when he was first announced as the joker has humbled me. Marvel has earned our trust. RDJ and the Russos have never made a bad marvel movie. I feel like we gotta trust on this one. Let them cook.
These are drastically different situations
What are you on about? Completely different situation.
RDJ is a variant of Doom. Its not Earth 616 Doom. We won't know who until F4 releases
They did say it was the Multiverse it's not supposed to make sense. As Dr Strange said, ' The multiverse is a concept about which we know so frighteningly little.'

But honestly, I'm here for it. Let them cook up whatever they're cooking up.
Reserving all judgement.
same. but when I realized the russos are back as well, then we are in good hands.

RDJ as Dr Doom is perfect
Don't worry, guys, this is just a Víctor VonDoom, not THE Víctor VonDoom. After Secretos War we'll have a new one, a new wolverine, mutants, etc.
Exactly. We have yet to know who the real Victor Von Doom will be in Earth-616
@@ryoku79 how do you there will be one? There could NOT be a VVD in Earth 616.
That’s not how it happens in the comics. In the comics Dr Doom because prime, or whatever they call him, and he is the constant Dr Doom that retains the memories once the world resets.
@@ryoku79 Javier Bardem for Victor Von Doom in Earth-616!😁

The thing is that the "Multiverse Saga" It's just a mean to an and, a way to add all the characters an d the lore of mutants, fantastic 4 and so many more, now that Disney has the cinematic rights .
This feels like it is going to be one of those things we're all confused by today and will praise 5 years down the road.
unrelated but you guys are glowing

Hector needs a time limit. I'd really love more time Adam and Agustin.
All I got from that RDJ casting was “The movies ain’t the comic books kids”
I realllly hope Rdj is not playing other variant of Victor Doom but INSTEAD, a variant of Tony Stark who's breaking bad. Think about it. Evil Tony Stark is just a HUGE threat. AND, who's gonna be the best villain for Mr Fantastic? Another smartest man on the planet.
This at least has TONS of story potential. Im excited.
Oh p.s. : just imagine the drama once 616 spiderman meet him.
I love it when comic book nerd's say that they don't understand a multiversal story and why one character looks like another. It makes perfect sense!
Did you watch our video?
Idk what about to happen but im just excited 😆 especially for thunderbolts..i can't wait to see Bucky.😅
I always love seeing you three together on one screen! 🤗
There is a Tony Stark variant that becomes Doom. I’m surprised that you guys didn’t think about that potential.
It just feels like the MCU engagement rage baiters and the toxic fans got their wish.
THIS!!! Its one of the reasons I can't get on board with this. Its like they are catering to only one part of the fandom with this casting. I know a lot of casual fans (those who watch the movies but don't really follow comics) that are really turned off by this.
Now their truly pandering. It's sad to see
He's Victor von doom (said it at the panel like 3 times) they said it's multivere, so it pretty much explains itself right there
Oh I didn't know that, most people seem to think it's evil tony taking the title of Doom. But I was curious
I think that’s exactly what happened
It feels like they needed a new arch villain, but didn't want to do a 15 year criminal background check / Social Media search for problematic tweets. It feels like they panicked. I hope it works out.
I would fucking love a twist where a variant of Doom kills the RDJ version in Doomsday and THE REAL DOOM is in Secret Wars
Or spends the entire movie with his mask on?
My zero evidence crackpot theory is that RDJ Doom will be nearly victorious over the Avengers only to be instantly killed off by actual DOOM, instilling real fear in the protagonists and setting up the future storyline. Actual DOOM hits RDJ Doom with a “FOOL! DOOM HAS NO EQUALS!!” or some other ridiculous DOOMism. Honestly whatever happens, all the chips are down, it’s going to be a wild ride. They’d better bring back Markus and McFeely, too.
Now I'm waiting for Chris Evans to be announced as Hydra Cap for these movies
Yeah, no. The MCU will never move forward if we don't let go of the past, this includes the actors from the earlier sagas.
The simple solution to this is Victor Von Doom is Tony Stark's actual dad and he was adopted by the Starks.
I have soo many questions, but I am really excited to see Dr. Doom
Hector's casting is way better than their actual casting.
"We'll save Hectors thoughts for last..."
Hector: "So anyways, here is my thoughts on the matter..." 😂😂
But yea, I'm a bit ambivalent about this decision.
rdj is probably just a variant. i have a feeling cillian or some wellllll known will end up as the main doom
Yoooooooooooooo wow. What an amzing theory
It only just clicked that with RDJ being cast, they get to double dip for Secret Wars and have Tony come back to help fight off Doom.

Don’t stress boys , secret wars will reboot everything and we’ll have a new Ironman cap Blackwidow ,everybody will be recast and we’ll have all the characters to play with from the very beginning , I believe they’ll own Spider-Man when that time comes too
RDJ playing a Tony Stark variant of Dr Doom "I'm a dude playing a dude disguised as another dude" 🤣🤣🤣
This broke my heart..... Our greatest hero in 616. Is the greatest villain in another universe.
Yeah because he is an actor in real life.
Totally agree, after Endgame everything is Fan Service. Multiverse is just easy way to earn money
I'm absolutely fascinated by the amount of entitlement, pram emptying and reactionary nonsense people like you are spouting.
Never mind I kinda talked myself out of this mindset sorta.
@@fugo1503_hobbyhardly “everything.” The multiverse doesn’t even feature in most post-Endgame projects.
They gonna do what they did with Loki, and transform Doom into a cool dude.
Everyone who loved Tony now having to Endgame-level fight a "Tony" who doesn't give a flying f%&k about them, is genius. RDJ's going to have a ball.
